The coating and the interlayer were deposited using a pulsed Direct Current Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (DC PECVD)

Under dry sliding condition, DLC coated systems may present a reduction of friction force based on the graphitization of the contacting surfaces, asobserved by Liu et al. [9]. This phenomenon is related to the re- arrangement of the sp3 and sp2 carbon bonds by energy transferred from themechanical movement to chemical bond kinetics.

Numerical simulation indicates high contact pressure (>12GPa) developedat the surface and high internalstresses, ranging from 20 GPa to 12 GPa, are developed along coatingthickness. The increase on indentationhardness inside the scrat- ched regionare compatible with the nucleation ofsp3 carbon bond sites derived fromsp2 bonds.

Influence of the material die and plungers on the superconducting properties of Bi1.65Pb0.35Sr2Ca2 Cu3O10 δ samplesprocessed by the Spark Plasma Sintering method. Samples were then consolidated by using two setups comprised ofdifferent materials: all-steel and all-graphite. Finite element simulations (FEM) were performed to provide extrainformation regarding the distribution of temperature within the samples. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis and DCmagnetization as a function of temperature, M(T), have been conducted in all synthesized samples as complementary char-acterizations. The main motivation of this study is to evaluate the influence of the material setup of the SPS apparatus onthe de- oxygenation of Bi-2223 compounds consolidated by the SPS method.
