Dr. Bhaskar V H, Principal Dear Readers, It gives me immense pleasure in introducing the college and its journey from 2006 to 2016. Dr. Om Gahlot, Chairman of “Late Smt. Hanjabai Gahlot Charitable Trust”, established “Gahlot Insti- tute of Pharmacy” in 2006, to provide the best qual- ity education in the field of pharmacy. Under the guidance of former Principal, Dr Rajani Shettigar, the college started its first year with four faculty members. Over the period of the next four years, the fa- cilities of the college were strengthened to fulfill all regulatory norms. As a result, the college was approved by Pharmacy Council of India, Delhi under section 12 of Pharmacy Act. I was appointed as “Leader” to the team of my faculty, staff and students in October 2012. We worked together as a team and got approval for a new course i.e. M. Phar- macy in Quality Assurance from University of Mumbai. Greetings from Principal’s Desk.

Dear Readers,

It gives me immense pleasure in introducing the

college and its journey from 2006 to 2016.

Dr. Om Gahlot, Chairman of “Late Smt. Hanjabai

Gahlot Charitable Trust”, established “Gahlot Insti-

tute of Pharmacy” in 2006, to provide the best qual-

ity education in the field of pharmacy.

Under the guidance of former Principal, Dr Rajani Shettigar, the college started its

first year with four faculty members. Over the period of the next four years, the fa-

cilities of the college were strengthened to fulfill all regulatory norms. As a result,

the college was approved by Pharmacy Council of India, Delhi under section 12 of

Pharmacy Act.

I was appointed as “Leader” to the team of my faculty, staff and students in October

2012. We worked together as a team and got approval for a new course i.e. M. Phar-

macy in Quality Assurance from University of Mumbai. I am proud to tell you that

our first batch of M Pharm students has successfully passed out and all of them are

employed with reputed Pharmaceutical firms.

The Institute has successfully completed ten years of existence. In this period, six

batches of B Pharm students have passed out with flying colors. We intend to cele-

brate this achievement with our alumni in the next academic year. On this occasion,

we will be coming out with a souvenir reflecting the past ten years in all their glory.

Inorder to keep the students updated about the various activities conducted in college

and to keep them informed about upcoming events, faculty members have decided to

publish a quarterly newsletter for internal circulation. I wholeheartedly support this

idea and welcome you all to the very first edition of the newsletter.

With the blessing of Almighty, support of Chairman and of course whole hearted co-

operation of my team members we will continue to grow in leaps and bounds.

Mrs Bharati Fegade, Assistant Professor Dear students,

Let me introduce myself in brief. I completed my graduation and Masters in Pharmacy from North Maharashtra University.

North Maharashtra University awarded me with a Gold Medal for securing highest marks in Final Year B. Pharm Examination. Recently I have register for Ph. D. in Poona University. I have been associated with this Institution for the past eight years and

am currently working as Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Research Guide for M Pharm students. I have

been involved in many college related activities like class in charge, lab in charge, instrument in charge and other activities. I have some research publication in national as well as international journals.

Mrs Vaishali Mistry, Assistant Professor Dear students and parents,

I have been associated with this Institution from the past 5 year. I have done my graduation (B.Pharm) and Masters in Pharmacy

(Quality Assurance) from C.U. Shah college of pharmacy (S.N.D.T University) Santacruze. I am currently working as Assistant

Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry in this institute. I am in-charge of Student summer industry training committee from past

4 years. Apart from that I have been involved in many activities like class in charge, lab in charge, Industry visit and many

more. I always like to do interactive teaching which creates interest in the subject.My message to my dear student is “Never

dream about success; work for it, and never let go your dreams.”

Mrs. Rupali Likhar, Assistant Professor Dear students,

I Rupali Likhar, have done Pharmacy from Sudhakarrao Naik Institute of Pharmacy, Pusad, Amravati University. I have ear-

lier worked in the Sri Rawatpura College of Pharmacy for two years and Rahul Dharkar college of Pharacy for 6 month. I have

been associated with this Institution for the past five years and am currently working as Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutical

Chemistry. During this time, I have attended Workshops, Guest sessions, National level seminars and Quality Improvement

Programme. I have Research paper publications, presentations and Book chapter also. Success comes only to those who be-

lieve in themselves and are prepared to win. Good luck for your future. Every Job is self-portrait of person who does it.

Mr.Nitin Suryabhanji Kolhe, Assistant Professor Dear students,

Myself Nitin S. Kolhe working as an Assistant Professor with a total academic and industrial experience of 07 years. I did

my D.Pharm, B.Pharm. from IPER Wardha (Nagpur University), M.Pharm. from K.M.K.C.P Colaba in Pharmaceutical

Chemistry (Mumbai University) and DBM from We School, Matunga. Recently I have register for Ph. D. in School of

Pharmacy, SRTM University Nanded. I have earlier worked in the Industry Magna Opus Solutions for 1.5 years in the

departments of Regulatory Affairs where I have been responsible for Filing several Local and Import Dossiers. I have been

involved in many institute related activities like APTI Co-ordinator, IPA incharge, class in charge, lab in charge, instrument

in charge and various sports activities. I am also a Life member of APTI. I have 07 research publications in National as well

as International journals and presentations to my credit and one of my Research Publication awarded as Best Research

publication of the year 2011 by IDMA at Mumbai.

Ms Priya S Hargunani, Assistant Professor. Dear students and parents,

I joined the institute in June 2015. I have done my graduation (B.Pharm) from K.M. Kundnani College of pharmacy, Cuffe Parade

and Masters in Pharmacy (Pharmaceutical chemistry) from Bharatividya peeth’s college of pharmacy, belapur. I have been associ-

ated with this Institution for the past one year and I am currently working as Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry in

this institute. My mantra in life for success is “Success doesn't happen by accident. It takes a determined spirit, right thinking,

working smart, and perseverance.” I look forward for all of you to be successful in the near future and a good interaction with me.

Ms Pratibha Tupe, Assistant Proffessor. Dear students,

I am very much attached to the profession teaching as it is a continuous process of learning. I like to learn new things, develop

skills and implement new ideas. I have joined this institute last year as Assistant Professor at the department of Pharmaceutics. I have completed my Bachelor of Pharmacy and Masters in Pharmacy from Pravara Rural College of Pharmacy, Pravaranagar,

Dist. Ahmednagar. We all have the potential and we are moving in right direction, in coming days we will definitely set standards

in fields of pharmacy education.

Dr. Khavane Karna B.,Associate Professor Dear all,

I have been associated with Gahlot institute of Pharmacy, Koparkhairne since July, 2013 and presently working as Associate Professor at

the department of Pharmacology. I have seven years of working experience in teaching and research work. I have completed my Bachelor of Pharmacy from Smt. S. S. Patil college of Pharmacy, Chopda, Dist. Jalgaon, Masters in Pharmacy from School of Pharmacy and Tech-

nology Management, NMIMS, Mumbai, and Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from JNU, Jodhpur. Before joining this institute I was

associated with few educational institutes where I have worked at the position of Associate professor.I attended an AICTE sponsored, Two weeks Quality Improvement Programmee (QIP) at KLE University, Balgaum, Karnataka and Many National Conferences where I

presented research papers in the area of Hospital and Clinical Pharmacy. I have credit more than 13 research papers in International and

National Journals.I feel honored being a part of the institute who continuously provided 10 years of quality education.

Mr. Arvind B. Naik, Assistant Professor Dear all,

I am associated with GIP as Assistant Professor in Pharmacology. I have done my B. Pharmacy from Amravati University and M. Phar-

macy (Pharmacology) from Prin. K. M. Kundnani College of Pharmacy, Mumbai. I taught at SJIPR, Palghar for five years before com-

ing to GIP in 2013. I always keeping myself associated with research activity, also coordinating students for Avishkar event. I am recipi-

ent of research grants. I have several publications and presentations at my credit. We make our GIPian competent and future ready. Best

wishes for your bright future.

Mr. Bhaskar Gavitre, Assistant Professor Dear students,

I have a very strong interest in pursuing teaching career and love to make a progressive development into the lives of students. I have an

excellent ability to remain good-humored and unflappable even under pressure. I have completed my Bachelor of Pharmacy from Smt. S. S. Patil college of Pharmacy, Jalgaon and Masters in Pharmacy from Prin. K. M. K C P, Colaba. Presently I am working as Assistant

Professor at the department of Pharmacology. Along with teaching I would like to write some research proposals, guide students for

various competitive exams. I am also interested to get registered for Ph. D. in near future. I feel honored being a part of the institute who continuously provided 10 years of quality education. I am confident that we all together will bring this institute to new heights.

Mrs. Pratibha Daroi, Assistant Professor Dear students and parents,

I joined the institute in July 2010. I have done my graduation (B.Pharm) from N.D.M.V.P. College of pharmacy, Nasik and Masters in

Pharmacy (Pharmacology) from M. G. V. college of pharmacy, Nasik in Pune university. I have been associated with this Institution for the past six year and I am currently working as Assistant Professor of Pharmacology and Physiology in this institute. I have always

believed that excellence in your field is the key to success and thus we should constantly strive to achieve it. I sincerely hope that excel-

lence will be your companion and in due course, I hope, you will be successful in your endeavours.

Dr. Smita Nayak, Professor

Dear students,

Let me introduce myself in brief. I have done my graduation and Masters in Pharmacy from Bombay College of Pharmacy, Kalina. I have

also completed Ph. D. from C.U. Shah College of Pharmacy, S.N.D.T. Women’s University. I have earlier worked in the Industry for eight years in the departments of Quality Assurance and Formulations Development where I have been responsible for launching several products

in the market. I have been associated with this Institution for the past eight years and am currently working as Professor of Pharmaceutics

and Research Guide for M Pharm students. I have seen the college go from strength to strength in the last ten years and am proud to be asso-ciated with this college since its early days. During this time, I have organized several Industrial visits, Workshops, Guest sessions, National

level seminars and research activities in college for the benefit of students. I have several publications, book chapters and presentations to

my credit. I also look into placement activities for our students. Right from 2010 onwards when the first batch of students passed out, we have had campus recruitment drives by reputed companies such as Charak Pharmaceuticals, Lyka Labs, Sanmour Pharma, Cognizant Solu-

tions, Neon Laboratories Ltd., Abbott India Ltd. This year, for the first time we had TCS Limited coming for the campus round and selecting

ten of the brightest Final Year students. The entire first batch of M Pharm students who passed out in 2015 secured placements even before

submission of thesis. I look forward to interacting with all of you in the near future.

Ms. Preeti Kulkarni, Assistant Professor Dear students,

I am Ms. Preeti Kulkarni and I am working in this institution as an Assistant Professor and Research Guide for post graduate students

in Quality Assurance. I have done my graduation from DSTS College of Pharmacy, Solapur (Shivaji University, Kolhapur) and Mas-ters in Pharmacy in Quality Assurance from C.U. Shah College of Pharmacy, (S.N.D.T. Women’s University, Mumbai). I have earlier

worked in Industry for six years in the field of Corporate Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs and Analytical Research. In my indus-

trial tenure, I have prepared, conducted and faced a number of national and international audits, prepared documents for submission in national and international regulated markets, interacted with regulatory bodies for sorting out the queries raised by them. I have dealt

with industrial quality assurance systems and undertook total quality management. I have also developed and validated analytical meth-

ods for a number of drugs, carried out stability studies, reaction monitoring and carried out bioequivalence studies during my tenure.I have been working with this Institution for the past six years and during this instance, I have organized national level seminars, aware-

ness programmes, guest lectures and research activities for the benefit of students. I have several national grants, national and interna-

tional publications and presentations to my credit. I have been into research collaboration with esteemed institutions like Advanced

Center for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC); Navi Mumbai, D.Y. Patil University; Navi Mumbai and Phar-

manza Healthcare, Gujarat. Dear students, learning process is eternal. It will give me immense happiness if you benefit from my

knowledge and expertise. I am always excited about sharing my experience with you and help you in any small way to scale greater heights.

Let me introduce myself in brief. I have done my graduation in Pharmacy from Maharashtra Institute of Pharmacy, kothrud, pune.

I have also completed Masters Padm. Dr. D. Y. Patil Institute of Pharmaceutical Science and Research, pimpri. I have been associ-

ated with this Institution for the past three years and am currently working as Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutics. During this

time, I have been involved in Industrial visits, Workshops, Guest sessions, National level seminars and research activities in col-

lege for the benefit of students. I am a dedicated, organized, and self motivated lecturer; committed to the professional and aca-

demic excellence. I enjoy acquiring and disseminating new skills and knowledge. I am also independent minded, adaptable.I look

Mrs. Urvashi Zamindar, Assistant Professor Dear students,

Let me introduce myself in brief. I have done my graduation & post graduation in Pharmacy with specialization in Pharmacog-

nosy from pharmacy department of Barkatullah University, Bhopal. I have been associated with this Institution for the past eight plus years and am currently working as Assistant Professor of Pharmacognosy & Phytochemistry. In my academic career I have

contributed in various activities including Seminars, Research activities, Industrial visits & Workshops, Guest session and many

GUARANTEED PLACEMENT FOR B PHARM FRESHERS

BY Board of Apprenticeship Training (BOAT)

The National Scheme of Apprenticeship Training implemented by the Ministry of Human Resource Development

(Department of Education) provides opportunities for practical training to Pharmacy Graduates in Industries and other Or-

ganizations as per the Apprentices Act 1961, (as amended in 1973 & 1986) and as per policies and guidelines laid down by

Central Apprenticeship Council.

This Board of Apprenticeship Training (WR) arranges apprenticeship training of one year in establishments of all sectors of

Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Goa & Daman, Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli. During this tenure, candidates are

given a stipend. On successful completion of apprenticeship, experience certificates are given to the students which help

them secure jobs.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT BY M PHARM (SEM II) STUDENTS TO CENTRAL DRUGS TESTING

A visit to Central Drug Testing Laboratory

(CDTL) was arranged for students of First

Year M. Pharm inorder to learn about latest

sophisticated techniques used in analysis and

research activities. They were taken on a

guided tour of the laboratory and in depth ex-

posure to equipments like HPLCs, GCs, FT-

IR, XRD etc. were given. Their queries re-

gards the same were also answered satisfacto-

rily. The exposure will be of great help to the

students as they carry out their research in the

second year of M Pharm.

hairane, Navi Mumbai visited ACG

Worldwide Facilities at Shirwal, Pune on

13th February 2016 for an educational

tour. They were accompanied by As-

sist.Prof. Mrs Vaishali Mistry And Ms

Priya Hargunani. They were then taken on

a guided tour of ACG capsule manufactur-

ing unit where the students were exposed

to latest capsule manufacturing technol-

ogy. In-depth knowledge about special-

ized technology such as two and four col-

our printing, special capsules, intensive in

-process controls was imparted to them by

technical experts. They next visited ACG

pharmapack where they learnt about spe-

cialized barrier packaging technology. The

students also visited ACG-pampac where

they were given an overview of the tool-

ings and machinery being manufactured.

It was a learning experience for the stu-

dents who had so far only learnt the con-

cepts in theory.

(ICPPS 2015) HELD ON 17-18 NOVEMBER 2015, VIENNA, AUSTRIA

Mrs. Kulkarni Preeti Dinkar, Assistant Professor, Gahlot Institute of Phar-

macy, Koparkhairane, Navi Mumbai successfully completed research work

in collaboration with Department of Kayachikitsa, D. Y. Patil University

School of Ayurveda and Clinical Pharmacology Department, Advanced

Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer, Tata Memorial

Centre, Kharghar titled “A Prospective Randomized, Double-Blind, Double-

Dummy, Placebo-Controlled Trial of Solid Lipid Boswellia serrata Particles

(SLBSP) Versus Standardized Boswellia serrata Gum Resin Extract (BSE)

for Symptomatic Treatment of Osteoarthritis of Knee” sponsored by Phar-

manza Herbals Pvt. Ltd., Gujarat. This work was presented at International

Conference on Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Sciences which was held

on 17th -18th November 2015, Vienna, Austria.

GLIMPSE OF “PHARM ACCORD” …………..

The most awaited program by the students is the cultural week.

The Interns 2015-16, Sabers organized a one week cultural fest named “PHARM ACCORD” theme “TOUR De` WORLD” in the month

of January. The entire event was split into two halves- sports day and cultural day. The event commenced on the 25th of January, and was

inaugurated by the Principal, Dr.V.H BHASKAR on the campus grounds.

Various on-stage and off-stage events were held during this period. Many competitions were held including face painting, tattoo making,

collage, calligraphy, mehendi, rangoli, finger decoration, poetry writing ,master chef ,egg decoration, candle decoration, T- shirt painting,

pencil sketching, add-mad, singing, and scavenger hunt. All the years, M pharm students and the staff members actively participated in all

competitions with full zest and zeal. Different days were organized during the entire cultural week like the school day, twin day, group

alike day, angel and devils day, traditional day and sari or tie day. A traditional day/ sari day was specially held for the entire staff and the

joyous moments were captured in a photo session. This year we had introduced the Pointer board to see which class wins the title for the

“Best class of the year” The prize distribution ceremony for the cultural week was held on 30 th January in which all the winners were

awarded with trophies and certificates. The Cultural Trophies were won by the Interns. The most awaited part of the entire day was the DJ

evening. The success of the cultural fest is attributed to the hard work by the committee members.
