PG&E Hunters Point Site Project Advisory Committee Update October 30, 2015 This is the latest update from PG&E’s Hunters Point Team to the Project Advisory Committee (PAC) and members of the Bayview-Hunters Point community. This update provides an overview of current and upcoming PG&E activities on and around the Hunters Point site (Site).

Area J Cleanup Upcoming Work Next week, soil cleanup work will continue in Area J on the corner of Evans Avenue and Jennings Street (see attached Site Map). Cleanup work at the Site is performed under the oversight of the Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC). Work hours are 7:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. Monday through Friday. If needed, we may work from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. on Saturday and Sunday. We expect work in Area J to be finished by early 2016, subject to weather and other factors affecting safe working conditions. Work next week will include continued soil removal and grading. The area is being prepared for the installation of a wall that will be part of a new overlook and plaza. We may also begin saw-cutting activities. Excavated materials will be stockpiled on-site, then transferred to large soil bins (being delivered to the Site next week) and covered before being disposed of off-site. Pedestrian and Traffic Safety You will notice changes to the traffic and pedestrian areas – such as the temporary repositioning of the sidewalk along Evans Avenue – while work is underway. Signage has been installed to safely guide pedestrians and traffic through the area. Flaggers may be present during times of increased traffic. The bus stop for the in-bound 19-Polk and out-bound 44-O’Shaughnessy lines has also been temporarily relocated (see Site Map for the bus stop location). Air Monitoring Airborne naturally occurring asbestos (NOA) and dust are being closely monitored at the Site during soil-disturbing work in Area J. On workdays when soil is disturbed, air monitors record air quality (see Site Map for air monitor locations). In addition, randomly selected workers wear personal air monitors to measure air quality while they work. Air monitoring results are reported to the Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD) and DTSC and posted at www.pge.com/hunterspoint. During the last week, all airborne asbestos results were below the project’s trigger level (see attached Air Monitoring Chart). Monitoring results for all metals were also below regulatory standards.

Gas Pipeline Replacement In the coming weeks, PG&E will begin to upgrading gas pipeline in the area. Work will take place on Evans Avenue, from Rankin Street to Mendell Street. The work should not interrupt gas service and is not related with cleanup efforts at the Hunters Point Site. This work may at times affect traffic (lane closures, traffic control, etc.). Work areas will be clearly marked and traffic flaggers will help to safely direct traffic around the closures. As part of this upgrade there will be a controlled and safe release of a small amount of natural gas so we can empty the pipeline before removal. You may hear a loud steady noise and notice the smell of gas. This is normal while crews are working. Glossary & Notes

Trigger level –0.016 structures per cubic centimeter (s/cc). When results above the trigger level necessitate adaptation of on-site dust control measures, work is only resumed in an area once air monitoring results for a full work day demonstrate conditions in the area are back under the trigger level.

Air monitoring takes place on a 24-hour basis. For example, data reported for Friday is measured from 4 p.m. on Thursday to 4 p.m. on Friday.

Site maintenance activities such as daily dust mitigation activities, air monitoring activities and storm water management are not listed in the table.

The prevailing wind direction for the area runs parallel to Evans Ave. towards the Bay.
