1 INTRODUCTIONThe 12th Haarlem Jamborette will once again take place in the recreation area Spaarnwoude, located in Haarlemmerliede and Spaarnwoude. About 500 volunteers are eagerly looking forward to the first participants arriving at the Haarlem Jamborette site to put up their tents. After all, that’s what it’s all about. The Haarlem Jamborette is organised by young scout leaders who mostly have great memories of previous camps in which they participated. Their experience has been put to good use when we planned the program for this Haarlem Jamborette. Furthermore, the team is supported by older Jamborette volunteers who will use their Jamborette knowledge to ensure there is a typical authentic Jamborette atmosphere. Thousands of scouts will attend the camp. To ensure you have a safe and enjoyable experience, we have created this participant‘s handbook, in which you will find general information and the camp rules. If any questions arise during the camp, please contact your sub camp staff. And of course I’m also present during the camp to answer your questions and, more importantly, to listen to all your experiences during the Jamborette. We look forward to ten fun-filled days and we wish you a very pleasant stay at this camp! Robin Middel, Camp LeaderHaarlem Jamborette 2015

2 THEMECartoon your camp – Create Colour Compete

Once upon a time, the people lived hand in hand with Avatars. Men and avatar thrived by working together and making time for one another. Nowadays, the avatar are extinct, except for a handful of eggs, and the people divided into 4 cartoon lands. Each cartoon land developed its own culture and its own specific way of life.

Each land is unique and so they live on. But divided they are not necessarily stronger, they need each other more than they realise. It takes creativity, colouring and competition to accomplish protecting their way of life… and to make it even spicier, this cannot be done without the avatars…. Can we save them too?

The four cartoon lands are:∙ REDDINGTON’ HARBOUR∙ GREEN VILLAGE∙ DUNES OF ORANGE∙ YELLOWLANDS Can we count on you to join us in our quest to protect the lands and save the avatar? All we need is your energy, creativity and colourful competition!

3 ACTIVITIESThe Haarlem Jamborette programme is divided into six clusters of activities. Every day you will join the activities of one of these clusters (Aqua, Arts & Crafts, Hike, Jambo Tours, Sports and Trail) with half the members of your sub camp. Within each cluster you can choose from a wide variety of activities. In this chapter you will find information about what activities to expect within each cluster. More information can be found in chapter 10 in the ‘Programme’ section.

A ticket is required for every activity, unless otherwise indicated. The sub camp staff will distribute the tickets to your leaders two days in advance.

Each activity has a limited amount of tickets available, which we will divide as fairly as possible among the groups. For each of the listed activities, a ‘programme time’ and ‘location’ is given. There is a map with the starting locations of these activities. This information may be altered and the final time and location will be announced during the Jamborette. The section ‘Leaders’ indicates whether a leader needs to be present at the activity. The section ‘Important’ contains the criteria for participation and/or tips and recommendations on what to bring along.

ENJOY!

6

AQUAThe main theme during this activity day is water. Aqua consists of three programme activities. You will either go sailing

and go for a trip on the W.S Koophandel or you will go by coach to a great location for the Water Games.

Dynamique Water Games The Water Games will be held at a large lake near Spaarnwoude and the day is split in two. Half of the day will be taken up by building a raft or a tandem canoe and trying your hand at archery. With your raft or tandem canoe we will then hold a race through an obstacle course or over a long distance. The long-distance race will have a start in ‘Le Mans’ style. The other half of the day you will be divided up in groups to participate in a water triathlon with wet sponges, aqueducts or lots of other activities like a giant scooter water courier, and last but not least, trying to slide as fast as you can on our belly slide!

Time: Will be announced during the Jamborette.

Location: The bus will depart from gate B on the south side of the camp.

Leaders: Each group has to bring at least one leader (18+). In addition, there are 24 leader’s tickets available for leaders who would like to help out during the day.

SailingSailing is all about playing with the wind. We will use the wind to move our boat forward. There will be seven people, including one or two Jamborette staff members, in the sailing boat. The sailing trip will take place on the Mooie Nel and there will be 15 sailing boats and 2 accompanying motorboats. The Mooie Nel is a lake to the north of Haarlem. Here we will play a great sailing game. The sailing boats we use are called Lelievlet, the most widely used boats in Dutch sea scouting. A Lelievlet is a 5.60 metre long boat made of steel. Because of the stable design, this type of boat is very convenient when learning how to sail. A young scout can control a Lelievlet.

The sail is only 12 square meters, so scouts can sail these boats up to wind-force 6.

Time: Will be announced during the Jamborette. (In the afternoon we will start at 14:00 from the harbour, where you will be dropped off after the Beurtvaart in the morning)

14:00: change to Beurtvaart or in the afternoon: 17:15 hours –

departure of bus to campsiteLocation: The bus will depart from gate B on

the south side of the campLeaders: Each group has to bring at least

one leader.

BeurtvaartWelcome on board our beautiful ship, the W.S Koophandel (a.k.a. WSK).This former merchant’s vessel was built in 1925 and has been used as a typical Dutch “Beurtvaartschip” for years. There is no translation for the word “beurtvaart”, but it means a ship sailed a predestined route through several harbours, somewhat similar to a modern day bus schedule. Nowadays the WSK is a multi-purpose ship, used as a clubhouse for scout groups and other non-profit organizations as well as for private parties.

During the Jamborette, the WSK´s captain and crew will take you on a one of a kind boat trip through the city of Haarlem. During the trip you can visit the engine room or wheelhouse and maybe even become “captain of the day” by showing your boating skills. You could also earn some extra points by participating in our quiz or you could just enjoy the weather and view from the middeck. We also have a small shop on board where you can buy snacks, drinks, ice cream and souvenirs. Halfway through the trip, we will stop at the typical Dutch windmill De Adriaan. Here you will have two options: either join the crew on a guided tour featuring some of Haarlem´s many beautiful historical landmarks and hidden quirks, or visit the windmill itself. Lunch will be provided at our activity change over point, where we also have a fun outdoor game planned for you.

7

Time: Will be announced during the Jamborette.

Location: The bus will depart from gate B on the south side of the camp

Leaders: Each group has to bring at least one leader (18+).

IMPORTANT FOR ALL THREE AQUA ACTIVITIES:∙ Participants are required to have a

swimming certificate. This doesn't mean everybody needs to bring an actual certificate, it it's juist very important that a participant knows well enough how to swim (while wearing clothes). If a participant is not able to swim, it will still be possible to participate in the activities. However, this will have to be discussed with the team leader and a provided life jacket will be compulsory.

∙ Bring swimwear, a towel, a bottle of water, sun lotion and (optional) some pocket money.

∙ Instructions from the captain and crew should be followed at all times.

∙ Before departure we require a list from each group with the group name, country, name and age of all participants (including leaders) present. Please write this list in

advance and hand it to the Jamborette Staff Member on the bus. Without a list you won’t be able to participate in this activity.

Depending on your schedule, you will go sailing either before or after the Beurtvaart. The change over point for the activities is at the harbour of the Bim Bakenesser scouts in Haarlem. We are looking forward to welcoming you on board!

@wsKoophandel and #wskNL www.ws-koophandel.nl. www.facebook.com/Koophandel

FOOTNOTE: Several countries do issue governmental recognized ‘swimming licenses’, to testify a certain minimal level of swimming capabilities. You don't need to bring the actual licenses, just be aware which of your scouts/guides are able to swim and which do not; as a leader, you are responsible for your own scouts/guides. If such a certificate system does not exist in your country, we do need a written statement of parents/leaders that the scout/guide is able to swim.

ARTS & CRAFTS “ Being creative and artistic is not a hobby, it’s a way of life!”

At Arts & Crafts, there will be lots of activities for the creative and artistic. When you get tickets for Arts & Crafts, you will get the opportunity to create or do something fun and beautiful. How about a life-size game of Angry Birds? Or perhaps you have a hidden talent for acting? You can find out by participating in Drama. Would you rather work with your hands? Choose Crafts Paradise! Create a fantastic souvenir of this Jamborette with a soldering iron and some wire. To cut a long story short: Arts & Crafts is the place to be!

Arts & Crafts is organising several and varied activities. Everyone will enjoy a day at Arts & Crafts, where you will get to choose two activities, one for in the morning and one for in the afternoon.

Time: 10:00 to 12:00 hours 14:00 to 16:00 hours

Location: Various places around the Arts & Crafts tents on the Jambo Boulevard.

Leaders: All activities are for participants only, but a number of group leaders will be requested to assist the team.

Arts & Crafts Paradise – CraftingThe Crafts team is looking forward to meet you. Don’t expect all activities to be the same. The creative scouts among us will be able to do lots of activities in the big crafts tent.

We have many fun crafts activities that don’t take long, including:∙ Engraving glass∙ Decorating bags∙ Painting stones∙ Making a mosaic with nails and wood∙ Making candle holders from cansAnd six other activities

Arts – Pimp your …Make something new out of old clothes,

bags and other objects, like pimping an old handbag using wool and beads to make it look trendy and new. Or what about making a bird box out of old video tapes? And these are just some examples of what we do here! Curious? Get your ticket sorted!

Arts – Ebru paintingEbru painting is drawing with ink that floats on the water surface. When you’ve made a drawing with the ink, we put a sheet of paper on top of it to capture the drawing, so that you can keep it.

Arts – DramaThis activity sounds very dramatic, but of course that depends on what you decide to do. In the morning you will do drama exercises in groups and in the afternoon these exercises will be made into sketches which we will film.

Crafts – Angry BirdsEveryone knows the game Angry Birds from their phone or tablet. We’ll now play a bigger version of this. Design your own Angry Birds course and build a life-size version of it. After building the course, you will have to destroy everything by shooting with the angry birds, just like in the game on your phone.

Crafts – Cold forgingDuring this activity you will be forging copper. Forging? Yes! Copper can be forged without a fire. But after you’ve forged your knife, you won’t be finished yet. To make your knife unique, you will decorate the handle with your very own design.

Crafts - Water rocketA water rocket may sound a bit boring, but that’s not the case at all! These rockets, made out of reusable plastic bottles, can reach a height of up to 30 metres if you try hard enough and know how to use a bicycle pump.

Crafts - The Best Idea of Jambo 2015Find a solution to a problem or case that is presented to you. Create your solution on a small scale using recycled material and paper and provide an explanation on how you

9

think your solution will work. Will you be the inventor of Jamborette 2015?

Crafts - QuizA mix of several Dutch TV quizzes with a Jambo theme. We will make two teams, which will do various tasks and quiz elements.

Crafts – ExperimentsYou won’t need a degree in physics to join this activity. We can reveal some of the experiments, like making slime, experimenting with soapy water and even making your own bouncy ball. If you would like to find out what other physics experiments we will be doing, then come and join this activity.

Crafts - Egg course Create a course with your team and roll an egg over it. Scouting is all about working together, which will certainly be useful for this activity.

Crafts – Electronics Team Electronics would like to introduce you to fun and interesting activities like communication, map reading, giving

directions, soldering and much more. For example, you can drive a remote-controlled racing car and use your scouting skills to get the car over all sorts of obstacles. Do you like soldering? You will get the opportunity to solder a Jamborette souvenir. We love to welcome you to Electronics during the ticket activities, but you can also drop by in your free time.

Crafts – Radio amateur and Geocache A Jamborette is not a Jamborette without contacting other scout groups in the Netherlands or elsewhere in the world. This activity offers you the chance to work with radio amateurs and see whether you can tell other scouts about the Haarlem Jamborette. Surely every scout knows geocaching. Search for the cache somewhere in the neighbourhood or even on the campsite!

Crafts – CookingThe Dutch cuisine is a little different and this certainly applies to sweet delicacies. If you’ve always wanted to know what a syrup waffle tastes like, let alone how to make one, then make sure you get a ticket for this activity!

HIKESOne of the challenges during the Haarlem Jamborette will of course consist of a great hike, whether you like a

strenuous, informative, exciting, exhausting or technical challenge. Once again we’ve put a lot of effort into creating a good mix of all the above. Read on for a short description of what you can expect from us at team Hikes.

City hike (± 8 km/5 miles)Explore the beautiful city of Utrecht with a route description in cartoon style. Utrecht is an old city with a splendid city centre with narrow streets, a famous church tower, medieval canals and pleasant green parks. You are brought to Utrecht by bus and the bus also brings you back to the Jamborette site.

Dune hike (25 km/15.5 miles)The bus will take you to the starting point. From there you will walk through the woods and dunes that are typical for the Dutch coast. A nice hike starting in one of the most beautiful coastal areas in Europe! Enjoy the summery flora and fauna, the small tracks and the Dutch landscape. In short, a nice way to return to the Jamborette site feeling pleasantly tired and satisfied.

Polder hike (± 23 km/14.3 miles)Make sure you wear sturdy boots, you will need them! You will start and finish at the Jamborette site. This hike will guide you through a typical Dutch landscape, with protected waterways and vast meadows full of cattle and sheep. You will walk through beautiful and unique villages and come past lovely lakes and picturesque harbours. Plenty of good locations for some informative and challenging tasks!

The Punisher (40 km/24.9 miles, 14+)You will be dropped by bus somewhere far away, hopefully you’ll be able to find your way back... A good spirit and some stamina will definitely come in handy! There will be plenty of challenges for the ‘diehard’ scout during this hike. It will take a full day to return to the Jamborette site if you’re doing this hike. Dinner is served during the hike, because you’ll arrive at the campsite after dinnertime. You will receive a nice memento as a proof of your achievement.

Do's and don’tsObviously, every group of scouts walking a hike has to be accompanied by a leader (18+) from their own scout group. It goes without saying that you will look after each other’s safety and stay together. Take enough food and drink for the whole hike, as it will not always be possible to buy something along the way. And last but not least: you’re a scout and a guest, please behave accordingly.

Time and location: The location and departure times of

the buses will be announced during the Haarlem Jamborette.

Leaders: Every group of scouts walking a hike has to be accompanied by a leader (18+) from their own scout group. This leader must carry a fully charged mobile phone with the emergency numbers programmed.

11

JAMBO TOURSComing to the Netherlands is more than just attending the Jamborette, so Jambo Tours offers a number of

creative and colourful tours to take you away from the campsite and enjoy the surprises of the Netherlands! Everyone gets to go on two field trips: one big excursion with the complete sub camp to a crazy rollercoaster world and another small one to a destination of your choice.

You can choose from three small excursions, which means there is a limited amount of tickets available for each of these. Whichever city you will visit, you can be sure to see special, interesting and challenging places!

1. Creative Science (Nemo, Amsterdam)This excursion will give you knowledge none of your friends has! Get to know the fun in science and take part in all kinds of crazy experiments. Marvel at the world around you, awaken your curiosity and develop your own ideas about how the world works.Outside this crazy world of science there are the canals, streets and squares of one of the most vibrant capitals in Europe, and of course we will not prevent you from exploring the cultural highlights of the nation’s biggest city!

www.e-nemo.nl/en/

2. Complete Biodiversity (Naturalis, Leiden)If you choose this ticket, the beauty of Mother Nature will amaze you. The biodiversity centre we are going to visit is one where you will find everything that has walked on this planet, everything that is walking there right now and all that might be walking on our planet in the future. Take the marvellous journey through everything that lives and breathes! Leiden, the city right outside the biodiversity centre is one of the finest the

country has to offer: according to their own anthem the city is “the pearl of Dutch history and land”. This surprisingly lively city has characteristic and vibrant streets.

3. Colourful SandsThe third but certainly not last small excursion will take you to one of the most popular Dutch beach destinations: Zandvoort aan zee. The long and beautiful beaches that the Netherlands are famous for are vast and consist of soft sand and dunes. Thanks to this long shore the sea has enough space to leave its treasures; everyday millions of items wash onto the shore. Only the most precious ones are collected and you are will learn everything about them if you choose this excursion. PS: don’t forget your swimming gear!

13

SPORTS At the Haarlem Jamborette, the Sports activities are the perfect way to get rid of excess energy. Of course there

will be a good mixture of sports and fun at the Jamborette, because for Team Sports, having fun is the most important! Your team will include scouts from different scout groups and with different nationalities, and together you will compete against your opponents in various games.

The emphasis is on good cooperation, making good use of your skills and smart tactics. Test your strength in the tug-of-war, your tactics during Knights & Peasants and your cunning moves during Real-life Stratego. We will also have the already world-famous ‘sleckrace’, where you will need your strength, stamina and sense of humour. Whatever your athletic qualities, you will need them during Sports!

Ultimate Frisbee TournamentForm a team from your group and sign up for the competition. In the evening the games will be played in your sub camp. Through a knockout your team can be the winner in your sub camp. The best of the frisbee teams will compete against each other on the closing day in the arena. The sub camp staff will inform you of where, when and what time the matches are.

Time: 10:00 to 12:00 hours 14:00 to 16:00 hours

Location: Various locations around the campsite.

Leaders: All activities are for participants only, but a number of group leaders will be requested to assist the team.

TRAILThe name ‘Trail’ originates from the Jambo-time when you had to follow a trail from the one activity to the

other. Nowadays this is different, but the Trail

team still offers a range of great and fun scouting activities.

Each day, you can choose one of the five clusters of activities for the morning and another cluster for the afternoon. Two clusters consist of two-hour activities and the three remaining clusters consist of a variety of shorter activities.

Outdoor and PioneeringThe Outdoor cluster consists of the well-known Obstacle course (fourth Jambo in a row), Primitive cooking and a new activity consisting of Archery, the big Zip line and a Jacob’s ladder. The Pioneering cluster consists of four activities: building and playing with a Roundabout, building and using a Trebuchet or catapult (old-fashioned war equipment), pioneering and sailing a Raft or constructing and rolling around with (or in) a Tensegrity ball. ( Google that!)

Colours wipe out, Lowland games, Mad Max In these three clusters, about 80 participants will enjoy a variety of activities. At the Colours wipe out you will be able to add some colour to your face through fun or exhaustion at for instance the Speech bubble race and the Blue bridge building, and wipe some colour from the face of your fellow scouts during the Pillow-fight. The Lowland games contain a couple of old-school Dutch games like Dutch Lions (British Bulldogs), Cloth-hockey and Sock wrestling. If you’re doing Mad Max, you will become a little moist during the game Colour the Flag, your skills will be tested at Fort Boyard and your agility during Paperboy.

Time: 10:00 – 12:00 hours 14:00 – 16:00 hours

Location: Various locations around the campsite.

Leaders: All activities are for participants only, but a number of leaders will be requested to assist the team.

IMPORTANT: if you would like to build and sail a raft, you will need to have a swimming certificate.

4 SUB CAMPS

GREEN VILLAGEMost stories start with “Once upon a time...” Or at least, fairy tales do. And this isn’t a fairy tale. This is the story of Green Village, a village in the countryside of the Haarlem Jamborette. Nearby are the villages Dunes of Orange, Reddington’ Harbour and Yellowlands. But we’re not talking about those now. We’re talking about Green Village! A small green village. Green because it’s a rural village where everything is like it was in the old days. The postman brings round the mail and you can buy milk and food in the village hall. The people here think togetherness, working together, equality and freedom are very important, but they don’t mind a spot of hard work either!

The residents in this village are Lana, Sebastiaan, Wendy, Nout, Dewi, Jeroen, Lonneke, Erben, Michiel, Liesbeth, Marieke en Richard. They are very happy here! Together, they make up the village council and ensure that all residents enjoy a carefree life in Green Village.

Does Green Village appeal to you and haven’t you found a rural and pleasant place to live in the country yet? Then you’ve come to the right place in Green Village!

DUNES OF ORANGEThe story begins with an Egg. An Egg that has been kept safe for hundreds of years. His Keeper brought this egg to us to look after it. Please follow our newsletters or Facebook

where the story continues. It would also be nice if you dress up in orange during the opening and closing ceremony. So take an orange hat or something else you can wear and make sure that everyone knows you’re part of sub camp Dunes of Orange.

Sub camp staffIf you have been to the Jamborette before, you will meet some old acquaintances in sub camp Dunes of Orange. Under supervision of Ivo Lemmens (also team leader at the last Jamborette), an almost completely new team has been formed. This year, team members Martijn, Ellen, Martien, Kenny, Esther and Natasja will welcome you to the Haarlem Jamborette. If you want to find out whether you know them already, check out the Facebook page of sub camp Dunes of Orange.

Programme at the sub campSub camp opening: 09:00 hoursinformation meeting at the sub camp tent for a small delegation per group: 19:00 hoursThere will also be a leader’s gathering on Monday evening. On your arrival you will receive more information about the sub camp programme.

REDDINGTON’ HARBOURAnything is possible in cartoons, so together with all of you we are going to create a real harbour in Spaarnwoude. Our colour is red and when you sail into Reddington’ Harbour, this will certainly be obvious! Meeting new friends, having adventures, making discoveries and having fun, we’re sure you’ll feel at home with us. Lost your way? The lighthouse will guide you back home.

Sub camp staffMayor Petra and her team are ready to welcome all the ships. If you’ve been to the Jamborette before, you will probably recognise a few faces. Your Reddington’ crew: Petra, Arjan, Ronald, Femke, Frits, Carolien & Jurrit.

“We are Jambo-RED!”

YELLOWLANDSThis region has always been inhabited by like-minded people who welcome everyone with open mind. The name Yellowlands comes from the word ‘fellow’ or ‘fellows’: friends. The colour refers to the Far East, where the region has its spiritual roots that are greeted with an appropriate Ni Hao.

Yellow is also the colour of love, both for each other and for our environment. Love builds bridges between cultures so easily that many a diplomat could learn from it. Furthermore, Yellowlands is a region in our world where you can enjoy games and challenges, but that also offers the peace and quiet to develop yourself. If you ever encounter a swan somewhere in Yellowlands, then this should come as no surprise. This is because the swan is inseparably linked with Yellowlands: the bird is a symbolic reference to neighbour Zwanenburg (Swanburgh).

In an ocean full of cultures and colours, Yellowlands strengthens feelings of togetherness. The joys and sorrows of life

are shared here, and our neighbours aren’t forgotten either. After all, they are our friends, with their own culture and background. Sub camp Yellowlands welcomes you to the Haarlem Jamborette 2015. Join us on our walk along the Yellow Brick Road to a great camp, and greet everyone with an enthusiastic ‘Yellow’!

5 EVENTS The Jamborette would not be complete without a creative team that plans stage activities. With lots of enthusiasm and creativity, Team Events will arrange the opening and closing ceremonies, the Reflection on Sunday and the visitors’ day.

These activities take place at the Jambo Boulevard Together we will build a great party during the opening ceremony. During the morning gathering on Sunday the 2th of August, we would like to reflect on the theme of building friendships and cooperation. The campfire is arranged by your own sub camp staff and will take place at the campfire site behind the sports field. Sunday afternoon is visitors’ day and everybody who would like to do so, can come and take a look at the Jamborette campsite.

Opening game Sunday 26th JulyEvery sub camp will have its own opening game. Through various activities you will get to know the people on your sub camp and get acquainted with the theme.

Time: 14:00 – 16:00 hoursLocation: Your own sub camp

Opening Ceremony Sunday 26th JulyWe will of course get the camp off to a good start with an opening party in the stage area, all in Cartoon Your Camp style.

Once upon a time, the people lived hand in hand with the Avatar. Men and Avatar thrived by working together and making time for one another. Nowadays, the Avatar are extinct, except for a handful of eggs, and the people are divided into 4 cartoon lands. Each cartoon land developed its own culture and its own specific way of live. Each land is unique and so they live on. But divided they are not necessarily stronger, they need each other more than they realize. It takes creativity, colouring and competition to protect their way of life….to make their life even more interesting, they need the Avatars… can we save them too…?

Time: 21:30 – 22:30 hours Gather at your sub camp at 20:30 hours.

Location: Jambo Boulevard

Reflection Sunday 2nd AugustNowadays we enjoy a lot of frequent contact with each other, all thanks to current media like Twitter, Facebook, WhatsApp, Ping etc. We often pass the time of day together, talking of our concerns, activities and successes. But how deep does that contact really go? Are we aware of how we can build on friendships and cooperation even though we come from different places? Together you are strong. This camp proves that again. During Reflection we will think about these themes. The Reflection is not religious in nature. If you want to join a religious service with your group, enquire about this at team Info. They will know where in the surrounding area you can attend a service of your choice.

Time: 10:00 – 11:00 hours. Gather at your sub camp at 09:00 hours.

Location: Jambo Boulevard

Visitors’ day/ Open House Sunday 2nd AugustSunday afternoon is the visitors’ day and this day will be nothing without your work and creative ideas. fully staffed team, who can deal with almost any medical problem. Our skilled team consists of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, a psychosocial worker and first aiders. If you have any medication that needs to be stored in a cool or dry place, you can hand it to us for safekeeping.

We are open daily from 08:00 until 22:00 hours. Outside these opening hours the first aid post can be contacted through Security.

Please report emergencies to your sub camp staff or to central post of team Security if you’re on the Jambo Boulevard.

FOOD SUPPLYFood Supply takes care of all your nutritional needs at the Haarlem

Jamborette. During the camp we take care of your food and drink requirements. Every day, we provide you with crates and coolers containing everything you need for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You will also be supplied with fruit, diluting juice and snacks. There’s even a recipe included with your dinner ingredients, so you won’t have to worry about that.

We try to cater for the different preferences of participants as much as possible by offering a variety in menus.

At the start of the camp you’ll be provided with a box with all the basic needs for a great camp, like garbage bags, dishwashing liquid and matches. But also things such as olive oil, vinegar and seasoning will be supplied.

DietsWe take in account the following common dietary requirements:∙ No pork∙ No veal∙ Vegetarian

JAMBORETTE HERITAGE CENTRE, SCOUTSHOP AND SWOPJamborette Heritage Centre

On the Jambo Boulevard, we have set up the Jamborette Heritage Centre. Here you will find the Jamborette Museum, where you can view photos, videos and objects from the previous 11 Jamborettes. You can also share your experiences with others over a cup of tea or coffee here, or write them in our visitors’ book.

SCOUTSHOPThere is an outlet of Scoutshop Nederland (the Dutch Scoutshop) in the Jamborette Heritage Centre, where you can buy things like badges, things for your uniform and scouting gadgets.

Time: 10:00 – 17:00 hours 19:00 – 21:00 hours

SWOPThere is more to swopping than just swapping badges and name tags. No camp is complete

20

without a swop corner. Here you can swop various scouty things. This is not a ticket activity - you can always drop by during the opening hours, even outside the activity hours. You will of course have to bring your own swop material. You can also view quite a large collection of scouting things through the years and from all over the world. At the Swop you also can buy a blanket and make it into your first campfire blanket with the Haarlem Jamborette logo and some badges. You also can put a silk-screenprint of the Jamborette logo on all the items you bought in the Jambo Shop or brand the logo into your leather belt or other items.

Time: 10.00 – 12.30 hours 13.30 – 17.00 hours 19.00 – 21.00 hours

Location: Jamborette Heritage Center at the Jambo Boulevard

INFOOur team provides information about a great variety of subjects,

and we are proud that our team members are very diverse in their age and daily activities as well. We are Susanne, Marnie, Steffen, Oscar, Jeroen and Nienke.

Before the JamboretteThe main priority of Team Info is answering questions. Long before the start of the Jamborette we were already working hard to support scout groups from all over the world in their practical preparations for this great camp. Ever wondered who answered all those questions that you sent to [email protected]? That was us!

Arrival dayOn the arrival day nearly everyone will immediately get directed to their sub camp and the head leader of every group will have to go to Team Info to officially register their group. We will then hand you some nice and useful items that will come in handy during your time at the Jamborette. We will also check the number of participants one last

time, to make sure you don’t end up with too little food or not enough tickets for the different activities.

During the JamboretteJust like before the start of the Jamborette, our most important task during the Jamborette is of course providing information. We will be in the Infopark every day and we will be happy to speak to you there. Do you need some inspiration for a fun activity you can do on your day off? Or maybe you already have a clear plan, but need some help with the practical side of it, like public transport or contact with a local organisation? Or are you not sure who is best placed to answer your question? Don’t hesitate: we’d love to see you in the Infopark!

Location: In the Infopark on the Jambo Boulevard

Postal addressWe also do a daily mail delivery round on the campsite. If your family would like to send you a postcard, they can do so to the following address:

Haarlem JamboretteName scout, name group, sub campp/a Sportservice NederlandPostbus 3382000 ED HaarlemThe Netherlands

Please note: this address is only in use during the Haarlem Jamborette and cannot be used for packages.

We also take care of the outgoing mail, which you can post in the orange postbox in the Team Info tent. Stamps are available in the Jambo Shop.

Lost property All lost property is registered and kept in the Team Info tent. Have you lost something? Start your search here! Welcome to Team Info, we’re here to serve you!

JAMBO BANK During the Haarlem Jamborette, we will have our own currency: the Jambo.

The main task of the Jambo Bank is changing Euros into Jambos. You can pay with these Jambos everywhere during the camp. The only place where you can pay with Euros and your debit card as well as with Jambos is the Jambo Shop and the Scoutshop in the Jamborette Heritage Centre. One Jambo is worth €0.60. You buy Jambos in baskets of 10 Jambos, so you pay € 6,00 each. At the Jambo Bank you can also pay with a debit card or a credit card (VISA/Master/AMEX). Unfortunately, you won’t be able to change your excess Jambos back to Euros at the end of the Jamborette!

Unfortunately we do not offer money exchange services for every currency . However, it will be possible to purchase Jambos with GBP and US$. The rate will be published in the Jambo Bank.

Time: Daily from 09:00 until 20:30 hours on the Jambo Boulevard and from 20:30 until 22:30 hours in the Mokkie.

Charge your phone or laptop in a locker at ElectronicsTeam Electronics offers the possibility to charge mobile devices. We will put the mobile device in a special locker, in which it is charged. Every locker has a European 230 volt socket. You will have to bring your own charger of course! In exchange for one Jambo, your phone, mp3 player, iPod, rechargeable batteries or camera will be fully charged. For more information, visit Electronics during the opening hours.

Charge your phone or tablet at your subcampAt each subcamp there are switchboards, where you can charge your mobile devices for free. These panels are unattended, so plug in your charger (European 230 volt socket), have a chat with the other “chargers” and keep an eye on your own device.

JAMBO SHOPAt the Jambo Shop, you will be able to get almost anything you might

need at the Haarlem Jamborette: tents, sleeping bags, toothbrushes, souvenirs and much more. Forgot your toilet bag? Just get some new toiletries at the shop! Of course we will also have souvenirs with the Jamborette logo, Dutch articles like clogs, flower bulbs and liquorice and sweaters and T-shirts with the original 2015 logo. In addition to this the shop stocks torches, batteries, toiletries and stamps/postcards. The shop accepts Euros as well as Jambos, our own currency. Paying by debit card is also possible.

GasIn most cases the shop can help you out with your gas requirements. We sell different types of connectors, hoses, clamps and gas bottles. If you want to make sure there’s gas for you on arrival, please order your supplies in advance on your group registration form, which can be found on the Haarlem Jamborette website. If you are in desperate need of gas outside normal shop opening hours, please contact Team Security for help.

Traditional costume photo.Always wanted to know how you look in a traditional costume? At the Jambo shop you can make it happen! Change with your friend, or complete group into the traditional costume of Volendam, a well known fisherman’s-village near Amsterdam and have your photo taken in a beautiful authentic Dutch background scenery with tulips, cheese, fishing gear and other things. We have 15 costumes (men’s and women’s) available per photo, and a limited amount of time, so come to our shop to make a reservation. Full is full! The cost for this unforgettable souvenir is 2 Jambo’s per person. (at touristic places in Volendam and other cities it is € 5 pp or more!)

Pictures are taken with your own mobiles phones or camera’s so you can easily share them with your friends and family. We are not able to print your photos on the campsite.

Time: 09:00 – 17:00 hours 19:00 – 21:00 hours

Location: Jambo Boulevard

MediaJambo Radio, Jambo Video and the editorial staff of the Jambo

Journal are located in the Media tent on the promenade.

The Jambo Journal is our daily newspaper, which will bring you the last news about everything that’s happening during the Jamborette. This year we will have screens in certain spots, so we can give staff and participants the most up to date news. In addition we will update the website, Facebook and Twitter to keep the home front informed.

Jambo Radio will broadcast daily radio programmes that you can listen to in every sub camp, but you can also listen to them live on the promenade. You can always call in to request a song. Would you like to make your own radio broadcast? Call in at the Radio tent after dinner and maybe the microphone will be all yours!

The staff at Jambo Video will film as much of the events during the Jamborette as possible. All their videos will be posted on the website and on our YouTube channel. This way, those who are not at the Jamborette will get the chance to see everything you are doing, and after the Jamborette you will be able to relive your memories of the camp.

Mokkie From early morning until late at night, Mokkie will be the place to be

to meet new and old friends and get a snack and a drink. Check out our programme in the Jambo Journal or follow the latest news on our Facebook page and sign up for the events. From our outdoor seating area you will be able to watch many of the Jamborette activities.

Time: 08:00 - 22:55 hoursLocation: At the Jambo Boulevard Open

for leaders and staff only: 23:00 - 01:00 hours

Toko Right next to Mokkie you will also find the Toko (tuck-shop). This is a small shop where you can get soft drinks, coffee/tea, ice cream, crisps and sweets.

Time: 08:30 - 22:30 hoursLocation: Right next to Mokkie.

To make sure everyone will have fun, here are a few house rules from Team Mokkie: ∙ Alcohol (beer/wine) is only served to

people that are 18 and over (recognizable by a green or blue wrist band), and will be available from 19:00 hours

∙ Drinking alcohol is only allowed in the Mokkie tent and in the outdoor seating area of Mokkie.

∙ No smoking by participants (youth members).

∙ Leaders and staff are only allowed to smoke in the outdoor seating area of Mokkie and only if the ashtrays are used.

Mokkie parties!27 July – Happy Birthday PartyLet’s make the first night already a party to remember! For those who have their birthdays during the Jamborette, we celebrate it all at once. No sitting in a circle with nagging aunts, but dancing till you drop instead. In short : We hand you a birthday to remember. Bring all your scouting friends and we supply the streamers, confetti, balloons, party-hats and a photo booth to make sure we capture the right moments on your birthday.

29 July – Summer HitsWednesday 29 July we will have a party in the Mokkie with YOUR summer hits! Send us the summer hits of your country before the 4th of July and we will make sure you can sing along with the top 3 hits at the Haarlem Jamborette.

1 August – Big Disco PartyNo Haarlem Jamborette would be complete

23

without a big disco party at which you can dance your legs off to the latest hits. Please join our party on Saturday 09:30pm, the first of August, at the Comic Sans Beach, right in front of the Mokkie. Our special theme for this evening will be “Light up your camp”. You can make the evening more special by dressing up in the colours of your sub camp and, even more importantly, illuminate yourself in the colours of your sub camp. LED lights, flash lights, bicycle lights, dyno torches, you name it (although candles and open fire might be a bad idea). Check your attic, your scouting lodge, the shop or the internet and make sure your sub camp is the brightest.

3 August – Dutch EveningWhat is a Jamborette without a Dutch evening …? Correct, an incomplete one!!! So are you in the mood for a party, a ‘bitterbal’ or to play a game of twister XXL? Then you are invited in the Mokkie! Tonight we’re gonna party till the roof comes down!

SECURITYThis year, Spaarnwoude is again the location for the Haarlem

Jamborette, where thousands of scouts from al over the world will gather. The perfect ingredients for an awesome camp, and Team Security will make sure that everyone gets to have fun and feels safe.

The team has several responsibilities, one of which is checking fire safety. The sub camp staff will explain the safety standards and carry out random checks together with Team Security to make sure the camping stoves meet the set requirements. Another responsibility of Team Security is to act as the co-ordinator during any incidents on the campsite. If the fire brigade, police or an ambulance are required, Team Security will alert these services and accompany them, so they arrive at the right location as soon as possible.

Team Security will also patrol a lot to prevent theft, but you will of course have to take good care of your own property too! Make

sure your tent is closed properly and you’ve put everything away when you leave your campsite. The campsite is surrounded by a fence and we have a manned entrance gate. Only visitors that are registered in advance will be allowed onto the site. Team Security is here to serve you and will look after your safety during the entire camp. You can count on team Security 24/7! You can find us in the central post on the Jambo Boulevard.

SNACK CORNERThe chip stand Hap van Ab will be next to Mokkie on the right. Ab

sells tasty fries, frikadellen (minced-meat hot dogs), kaassouffles (deep fried cheese), croquettes, burgers, and much more, and you can pay with Jambos! And who knows... maybe your fries will be fried by the chief camp leader himself, because at Hap van Ab, you never know who might be behind the counter. Except for Ab himself of course. He’s always there and makes sure that everything in his chip stand is in perfect order. Drop by between 16:00 and 23:00! During the open day the opening hours will be different.

Time: 16:00 - 23:00 hours

TEAM SWITCH For the first time in the long history of the Haarlem Jamborette, we will have Team Switch.

Team Switch looks after scouts who need a bit of peace and quiet in their day to make the Jamborette a success for them too. Scouts who, for whatever reason, need a moment of peace and quiet or would like to go through the programme for the day step by step, to make sure they know what they are going to do and what will be expected of them.

We have the following target groups in mind:∙ Scouts with autism ∙ Scouts with a physical disability, whether

chronic or not ∙ ADHD or any related condition

24

Time: If you would like to sign up a scout with Team Switch, please do so through the sub camp staff. The sub camp staff will then make specific arrangements with Team Switch for the scout in question.Location: You will find our tent next to the first aid tent.

SUPPORTING TEAMSYou will definitely meet some of the people from some of the teams

mentioned above. But there are a lot of other people you might not even see. They work behind the scenes to make your stay as comfortable and pleasurable as possible.

Team Infrastructure & Equipment provides tents, toilets and showers and all the materials for the other teams. These people also take care of power cables, telephone lines, Internet and other logistics. At the Jambo Kids Club the children of our volunteers are being looked after. The Service team builds all the facilities, cleans them every day and disposes of our garbage. The Camp staff coordinates all team efforts, Finance is responsible for cash flows

and Sound And Light Equipment (SALE) provides sound and light effects during every ceremony. The Staff restaurant cooks for the volunteers and the international support team – last but not least – helps out everywhere they can.

27 MAP OF CAMP SITE

26

8 ARRIVAL & DEPARTUREPreparations at home:∙ Check carefully that all members of your

group have a health and accident insurance;∙ Make a note of all numbers of the insurance

policy for each participant, as well as the names and phone numbers of their insurance companies;

∙ Groups from abroad have to bring an E111 insurance form;

∙ Make sure that your passports/ID’s are still valid;

∙ Leave your campsite address and telephone numbers with your family;

∙ Make a sign with the name of your group, to be put up at the entrance gate of your sub camp;

∙ Campfires and music go together, so bring your musical instrument;

∙ For groups coming with their own transport, read the directions in chapter 13 of this handbook.

Also remember the following things during your preparations:∙ Make sure you bring easily serviceable

tents;∙ Bring suitable cooking gear, pans and other

utensils;∙ The fire brigade requires gas hoses that

are suitable for propane/butane and are no older than 2 years. Regulators cannot be older than five years and bottles have to be under ten years. T-connectors are not allowed! Make sure every gas bottle has its own connection;

∙ Do not store gas bottles in your tent, keep them in the shade outside the tent;

∙ Keep a distance of at least 5 meters between any tents designed for more than 20 people and other large tents.

ArrivalSaturday July 25th, all groups are expected to arrive between 09:00 and 22:00. Do you arrive on Sunday, July 26th, you are expected to arrive between 09:00 and preferably before

14:00, but no later than 17.00. To ensure everything takes place in an orderly manner, we urge you to arrive during these hours. Different types of transport (coaches, buses, small vans, private cars) have to arrive at different gates around the campsite. We inform all groups as soon as possible, at which gate they are expected to arrive. When you arrive at the gate each group will get a “runner”. The runner stays with the group until everything is arranged. The runner will explain all the details. In particular the transportation of your belongings across the campsite is very important. For a quick transport of your gear on the site, we advise you to pack everything in a trailer if possible. We can transport these to the sub camps for you. Other equipment and personal luggage must be carried by hand to your camp or re-packed in trailers provided by the Jamborette, which will take some time. It is not possible to drive your own cars to the camping areas.

The day of arrival will be very busy, it may be warm and you may have had a long journey. Therefore we do ask you to be patient, this way everything will be dealt with quickly.

ReportingOnce at the sub camp, one of the group leaders reports to the sub camp tent. There you will be informed where you can build up your campsite. The sub camp staff will also inform you when two of your group leaders can report to the information desk of Team Info. This is where the actual registration will take place. You will receive an information package and Food Supply will be informed of your arrival.

ParkingBusses, trailers and trucks cannot be parked at the campsite. There is a limited possibility for cars with trailers to park at the north and south side of the campsite and these vehicles cannot leave the site during the camp. Be advised that parking is at your own risk and that the Haarlem Jamborette cannot be held accountable for any damage to your vehicles in the car park. There will however be regular patrols by Team Security. And of course lock

27

up and take you belongings with you. The campsite is car free during the camp except for our own service vehicles.

DepartureYou can leave the campsite on Wednesday August the 5th from 06:00. By 18:00 everybody has to have left and the campsite has to be empty. When your group is ready to leave, your group leader need to inform the sub camp staff. Any luggage or equipment that cannot be carried by foot will be transported to the exit by the Jamborette staff. Remember when you do leave, do not leave anything behind other than your thanks for a great camp. See you next time!

Eight sub-sub camps are thus created in which you will take part in a varied nine-day programme. On arrival you will get a pocketbook in which all the activities are listed. To take part you need tickets. These will be handed to your group leaders in your sub camp the evening before the activity. The tickets show starting and/or departure time. In the morning you go to the bus departure point or join one of the activities on the campsite. Make sure that everyone in your group is on time. Every day there is an activity for every participant, except for your day off, this is a time for relaxation or doing your own thing. You will understand that not everyone can participate in the activity of their first choice.

Please divide your group leaders over the activities in which your scouts take part. At some activities it is even mandatory to have supervision of a group leader over 18. Please check the information about leaders at the bottom of every activity in chapter 3.

11 CAMP RULES: DOS AND DON’TSResponsibility/safetyParticipating in activities during the Haarlem Jamborette is at one’s own risk. The Haarlem Jamborette Foundation and its staff (including all volunteers) do not accept any responsibility for any damaged goods or personal injuries, physical or other, that occur during the camp. The organization of the Haarlem Jamborette 2015 strives to assure maximum safety according to Dutch rules and regulations.

EmergenciesIn case of fire, trouble, injuries, damage etc., please notify Team Security immediately on +31 (0)85 - 27 33 401 and also notify your group leader. They will inform the sub camp staff.

First aid and medical mattersEvery group will of course make sure they bring their own first aid equipment (check the expiry date) when they leave for camp. It is important that the group’s leaders have some basic first aid skills and know the medical histories i.e. medication, diets, illnesses, allergies etc. of all participants in their group. Along the road to the Jambo Boulevard you will find Team First Aid/Medical. A doctor holds surgery hours there every day. If you need to store (emergency) medicine in a fridge, you can bring them to Team Medical.

AccidentsIf an accident occurs on the campsite, notify Team Security and your group leaders . You can also notify someone of the Jamborette staff nearby. They will notify Team Security and/or First Aid. Do not call 112 yourself; leave this to Team Security as they have strict arrangements with the local authority and emergency services. In case of an accident away from the campsite, notify your group leaders. If you need an ambulance, the police or the fire brigade, call 112. After your call to 112, also

inform the camp staff immediately by calling +31 (0)85 - 27 33 401. This is the phone number of Team Security.

Drink plenty and protect yourself from the sunBeing busy throughout the day makes you lose a lot of fluids through perspiration. So make sure you drink plenty of water. Take your Jamborette water bottle everywhere you go! Of course you wear a hat when it is sunny and please use sun lotion regularly.

Peace and quietEach group is responsible for peace, neatness and silence on the campsite. The sub camp leaders will see to it that the groups meet these rules. When leaving the campsite each group has to make their own safety and security arrangements, i.e. ask a neighbouring group to watch your possessions, or someone from your group could stay behind.

SilenceBetween 23:00 and 07:00 hours the next day there should be total silence on the campsite.

Leaving the campsiteYou may only leave the campsite with permission from your group leaders. The campsite is closed between 22:00 and 07:00 hours. During these hours the gate will only be opened in case of emergencies.

VisitorsVisitors are welcome on our open day. On other days visitors can visit if necessary and only if they are registered in advance with Team Security.

DecorationAcross the campsite, decorations and (other) pioneering structures have been built to give the camp a little extra Oomph, so be careful with them and do not touch! For your own safety, it is not allowed to climb in or on them. If you bring your own decorations to smarten your campsite, please dispose of them correctly at the end of the camp or take them home. Do not leave anything behind - except your thanks.

32

Unsafe pioneering objects must be taken down immediately when instructed to do so by Team Security or the camp staff. UniformYou need to wear your scouting uniform at the opening and closing ceremonies and during activities away from the campsite. Always carry your pocket book with you (fill out the back page with your personal data). Wear your scout scarf and wristband at all times, otherwise you will be excluded from the activities.

SmokingYouth participants are not allowed to smoke. Staff and group leaders can smoke in the outdoor seating area if the ashtrays are being used.

AlcoholAlcohol (beer/wine) is only served to people 18 years old and over (recognizable by the green and blue wrist band). Drinking is only allowed in the tents and in the outdoor seating area at the Mokkie, at the sub camp tent and at your own tent providing it does not cause offence.

DrugsPossession and use of any type of drugs is strictly forbidden. Anyone breaking this rule will be handed over to the police and removed from the campsite.

KnifesWearing knifes visibly is not allowed. Be advised that when you come to the Jamborette by airplane, all sharp objects need to be packed in checked-in luggage, not as carry-on luggage or in ones pockets!

Open fireOpen fire in any form is forbidden at the campsite! Only the sub camp has permission for a campfire and that will be started and monitored by staff.

GeneratorsGenerators are not allowed and will be removed for the duration of the camp. When a participant has to rely on power supply for

medical reasons they can contact their sub camp leader before July 1st, who will then contact Team Info. Flying equipmentAs the campsite is situated within the controlled area of Schiphol Airport it is forbidden by law to fly any type, radio controlled or not, of model airplane, helicopter, drone, air balloon, kite or other object on or over the campsite. Not even to take “just one picture”!

DogsDogs are allowed on the campsite, but must be held on a short leash at any time and also near your own tent. Naturally, you will clean up poop immediately and the dog cannot be a nuisance to other participants.

DiggingDigging on the campsite or damaging the grass on purpose is not allowed.

GarbageTo save the environment we recycle glass, paper, cardboard and plastic. Please deposit these in the assigned containers. Keep your other garbage in closed garbage bags. Bring these to the assigned garbage disposal points regularly. Do not leave garbage, decorations, leftovers and old camping material behind at your campsite, but bring them to the designated places or even better, take them home.

Waste waterDispose of waste water in the cisterns near the toilets. It’s forbidden to dispose of it in the toilets or washbasins to avoid clogging the pipes. Do not throw waste water into the bushes or ditches as this may attract vermin.

ToiletsUse the toilet facilities provided and do not abuse the local bushes. There are toilet facilities at each sub camp, the Jambo Boulevard and on the sports activity field. There are disabled toilets available on the Jambo Boulevard and near the tent of First Aid. All toilets and showers are cleaned twice daily (once by team Service and once by one

33

of your sub camp groups). This, however, does not mean you can make a mess of things; others would also like to be able to use a clean toilet. Your own group may be carrying their own toilet. These can only be emptied at the specific disposal points.

ShowersThe showers are located near the main entrance of the campsite and are open from 07:00 until 10:00 and from 16:00 until 22:00. The use of the showers is free but not eternal. We anticipate that each participant will take a short shower once each day. Please wear the minimum clothing decency requires (shorts and a shirt for instance), for this will cut back waiting lines. In the large shower facility there are separated areas for men and women. At the showerhouse there are also toilets and washbasins.

Washing areaThese tent covered areas are located at each sub camp and are meant for washing your body, not your dishes, clothes or anything like that. The washing areas are covered and are separated into male and female areas. Water tapsDrinking and cooking water is available at the assigned water points using jerrycans or other water containers. Do not wash your hands or brush your teeth or clean dishes at the water points.

Hygiene around the kitchenTo prevent people from getting sick during the Haarlem Jamborette it is necessary that everybody applies the rules and regulations of good hygiene which are:∙ Wash your hands before cooking∙ Wash your hands before you eat∙ Throw away touched perishable foods∙ Return left over, unopened goods to the sub

camp tent∙ Make sure that all foods are properly (re)

sealed and placed in a cooled area (cool box/cooler)

∙ Do not store your cool box in direct sunlight∙ Clean your dishes right after dinner∙ Keep your cooking area and the cool box

clean, this includes the floor. This way no

vermin are attracted∙ Every day, the coolers are changed and the

cooling elements replaced∙ Raw meat must never touch other foods.

Use separate cooking utensils for the meat∙ Make sure you bring good quality pots and

pans

Gas cannisters, camping stoves and other types of gas equipment are allowed. Note: the gas hose of a camping stove has to be no older than 2 years. Team Security will check this.

ActivitiesFor several activities at least one group leader is required to accompany each participating group. If your leader is not on time you may be excluded from the activity. See further detailed information in chapter 3.

SwimmingUnfortunately local authorities downgraded the water quality at ‘Beach Houtrak’, on the west side of the camp, so this is not an official swimming location anymore. Although the quality of this water is being checked regularly and it is not dangerous if you come in contact with the water, we advise against swimming in it. If the water quality becomes too poor the sub camp staff will let you know.

Due to poor water quality it is not allowed to swim in the pond near the Jambo Boulevard.

Lost and foundIf you have lost or found something please check with Team Info. All lost and found articles are collected there. Jambo mugEvery participant will receive a mug in their welcome package. At the Mokkie tea, coffee and soda will only be served in the Jambo mug. For hygiene reasons your mug will be swapped for a clean one from our dishwashers. When you lose your mug you can buy a new one in the Shop for 3 Jambos. Because the mugs are swapped, you should not damage them. Writing your name on it does not serve any purpose.
