Follow these guidelines when installing wiring to the unit:

S Allow enough room to route your electrical service line to the unit. You can use either of the two access holes in the base of the unit forelectrical service. One hole is for rear access and the other is forbottom access.

S Route any wires away from AC power lines, solenoid output lines, and electrical equipment such as motors, contacts, and relays.

S Make connections with the minimum length of wire needed. A longwire can act as an antenna for electrical noise.

The power requirements of your hoses and guns must be determined tomake sure that you do not overload the unit. If your Nordsonrepresentative has not already checked to see that your unit can supportall of the hoses and guns you plan to install, you need to calculate yourhose/gun power requirements now. You also need to check yourcalculations if you change your system configuration or add new hosesand guns.

To determine your hose/gun power requirements, refer to CalculatingHose/Gun Capacity at the end of this manual. If you need help with thisprocedure, contact your Nordson representative.

For programming purposes, each heated system component (tank, hose, and gun) belongs to a temperature setpoint group, referred to as a zone. You set the desired operating temperature for each zone. The defaultsetting for all zones is OFF (less than 38 C or 100 F). To turn a zoneon, you must set the setpoint temperature to 38 C (100 F) or higher.

Follow these guidelines when you are programming your temperaturesettings. Use the next procedure, Programming System Controls, toprogram your temperature settings.

S Check the Manufacturer’s Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for therecommended operating temperature of the adhesive you will use.

S To turn a zone on, set the operating temperature at 38 C (100 F) orhigher, up to a maximum of 232 C (450 F).

S Before programming any temperature settings, make sure theovertemperature setpoint is at least 14 C (25 F) higher than thehighest setpoint temperature.

Use this procedure to program your unit, including setting thetemperature setpoints.

1. If you have not already done so, turn the unit on by pressing thePOWER switch.

2. See Figure A 1-21. Press the Up key (5) below the Selectordisplay (1) until the feature number you want shows in the display. Asthe feature number changes, the Multipurpose display changes toshow the setting for that feature.
