News from the English Department: We recently ran a short story writing competition. Well done to all our amazing competition winners who now all have the chance to have their work published in an anthology of 'Spine Chillers'. A big congratulations to: Shelby Caroll Katie Bunting Lauren Yates Ruby Dixon Ellie Bower Mia King Katelyn hall Olivia Sharp Samanta Strauta Briony Benjamin joseph Clunan Morgan Chipperfield Sinead murray-Woods Kristine Lebedeva Harry Chandler Lucy Schofield Katrina Borovika Alice Middleton Jones Gabriel Deacon. Speaking and listening exams got underway this week and the year 11s have been impressing us with their talks and role plays. These will continue for the next two weeks so please continue to practise with your child. Year 11 parents will also shortly be receiving the latest tracking information for English Language GCSE. This reflects the mock exam results as well as any recent improvements to coursework. On the back, your child and their teacher have set targets for further improvement. Please could you discuss these with your child and contact us if you have any concerns. Just a reminder that the English department is open every Tuesday after school for coursework help and support. We will be switching to a more structured revision program after the February half term. Thanks as always for your support. Mrs Holland and the English team.

A huge WELL DONE to Mr Hall and all the students in KT 7 who were the first winners of our KT House

trophy for best attendance. I owe them a box of chocolates to go with that.

Our overall house attendance figure is very slowly going up but is still some way shy of the school target,

so as parents, do please continue to encourage your children to be here in school

Can I just remind you that if your child is off school for whatever reason, it is really important that you

supply them with a note otherwise it will count against their personal attendance target of 95%
