  • Maintenance and RepairCoating products and services for cost effective asset management

  • Meeting the Needs of the Maintenance Engineer

International Paint - global supply, local service

Our business is built around yours. With our global supply chain and technical service network, your asset will remain protected wherever you are, whatever the environment.

Why protect your asset?Whatever the substrate - steel or concrete - your asset is subject to corrosion. Steel is at risk from the corrosive environment in which it is situated or from the various micro-environments caused by the operation of your plant. Concrete is no different, it can absorb water, chlorides and other chemicals created by processes which, in time, will affect its integrity. Coating systems protect your asset and, when coupled with a comprehensive maintenance schedule, help ensure a reliable performance at an optimal level with minimal downtime.

A coating system is only as good as the surface its applied toMany areas of a production facility operate continuously with limited shutdown maintenance periods meaning routine maintenance has to be carried out alongside live operational plant.

Gritblasted surfaces are not always practical and other methods of surface preparation, ranging from a simple hand-chip, scrape or wire brush method to power tool cleaning or even water jetting are preferred. Similarly spray application is not always possible or cost-effective when adding the cost of specialist containment therefore application by brush, roller and trowel must also be considered.

We have a range of coatings and linings suitable for application over all standards of surface preparation using various application methods.

  • Our product offer

Structural Steel, Splash Zone & Tidal Zone AreasProduction processes create micro-climates within a facility, such as wet/dry areas and vapour affected zones, which can cause premature failure of a coating system. We have a range of products suitable for all conditions ranging from surface tolerant and chemical resistant epoxy primers to a range of durable finishes.

Our Interplus products are surface tolerant, temperature resistant to 150C (302F) and can be applied over hand tool prepared steel.

Interseal 670HS allows low temperature cure (-5C/23F), can be applied to hand tool prepared areas and a range of aged coatings, is suitable for immersion and for use in drinking water tanks.

Our finishes offer covers durable polyurethanes like Interthane 990 and the user-friendly single pack polysiloxane Interfine 1080 that delivers excellent gloss and colour retention.

In Interzone 954 we have one of the worlds leading all round maintenance coatings.

    Interzone 954s epoxy technology provides:

    Excellent abrasion resistance

High build in a single coat

    Wide surface tolerance

    Early water resistance

Resistance to a wide range of chemicals

These properties make Interzone 954 ideal for a range of applications including:

    Pitted structural steel

Splash zone and tidal zone areas

Light duty and heavy duty decks

Slurry tanks in the mining industry

Whether the fire risk is cellulosic or hydrocarbon, we have a solution to meet your requirements.

Our Chartek epoxy intumescent products offer:

Hydrocarbon pool and jet fire protection

    100% volume solids

    Easy installation

Long term protection against corrosion under fire-proofing (CUF)

    Low installed weight

    Excellent mechanical integrity

Our Interchar acrylic and epoxy intumescent products offer:

    Cellulosic fire protection

    Excellent aesthetics

    Competitive loadings

    Excellent external durability

    Enhanced mechanical properties

    Water and solvent-borne technologies

    Passive Fire Protection

Temperature resistance and protection against corrosion under insulation (CUI) are major requirements for industrial facilities.

Our Intertherm range of high heat products (Intertherm 228, Intertherm 751CSA and Intertherm 50) provide the following benefits:

    Temperature resistance to 540C (750F)

    Excellent CUI protection

    Temperature cycling resistance

    Thermal shock resistance

Application to hot steel up to 120C (248F)

    Single coat application

    Temperature Resistant Coatings

  • InterplanA risk based inspection program carried out by our specialist team of surveyors, which provides a documented and site specific condition survey, designed to provide the maintenance engineer with all the information required to understand:

What needs to be repaired? Condition survey and specific surface area

How to repair it? Customised surface preparation and coating repair specification systems for differing situations and locations

In which order? A detailed year on year prioritised maintenance schedule

What is it going to cost? As you will know the maintenance priorities for each year, you can then plan and budget correctly using our Interplan document as part of the process

    Types of Interplan Surveys available:

    Corrosion

    Fire Protection

    Concrete & Secondary Containment

    Planned Maintenance from New Construction

    Coating Aesthetics

  • Concrete ProtectionConcrete is used extensively in a variety of industries including oil, gas and chemical processing, mining, water and wastewater, power generation and infrastructure. It has its own unique mode of failure - cracking and spalling, chemical attack (carbonation) and wear, all of which can lead to corrosion of the rebar and reduced structural integrity.

We have a wide range of coatings to cover all your concrete protection needs including:

Ceilcote novolac vinyl esters and vinyl esters for protection against agressive chemicals and crack bridging.

Polibrid solvent free elastomeric urethane for excellent abrasion resistance.

Intercrete cementitious materials for repair and remediation.

Providing resistance to aggressive chemicals or high service temperatures we have a range of linings to suit your needs.

Our Interline range of epoxy and epoxy phenolic linings can be used for:

Tank bottom refurbishment when used with glass fibre laminate systems

Potable water Crude oil and hydrocarbon cargoes

Our Enviroline range of polycylamine cured epoxy novolacs deliver:

Fast return to service High temperature cargo protection Single coat application Low temperature cure Outstanding abrasion toleranceThe Ceilcote brand uses vinyl ester and novolac vinyl ester chemistry to offer:

Protection against aggressive chemicals such as sulphuric and hydrofluoric acids

    Reinforced systems

    Linings

As much as 95% of all coatings failures are a result of poor surface preparation and application. Good surface preparation and correct application are essential to achieve long term cost effective coating systems.

    We can provide:

NACE or FROSIO qualified technical service representatives for round the clock technical support

Customised coating application training for contractors

Coating schemes to meet local regulations

    Product supply flexibility
