What a great start to The Schools Challenge 2012. Kicking off with the Oxford leg of the challenge, we had schools and individuals both new and old streaming in to take part in this years event. Thanks to our generous sponsors we have a bumper combined prize fund of around £80,000. It has been particularly nice to see new names appearing on the prize list, this is testament to the increasing popularity of the event. What makes this event different is that it really is more about the taking part than the winning. The 50 sporting is only one part of the day, as there are many other activities to keep you occupied including the 4x4 Course, Browning Rabbit Mania, and Pool Shoot. We all enjoyed the day immensely, and hope you did too. The next stage of the Schools Challenge is being held at Bredon School, and we hope that many of you will be able to attend, as there will not only be the normal prizes, but if you have competed at both Oxford and Bredon you will be eligible to win the Browning Champion of Champion Trophy, for the highest combined individual score over the two days. The whole weekend is lining up to be a great family day out, with the School Fete and Festival of Shooting. The Schools Challenge would not be made possible without the continued support from our sponsors, and we would like to thank them for this. There is a list of them all on the next page, and many of them will be coming to the festival. This year, not only did we have the shooting press and Field Sports Channel covering the event, we also had the BBC reporting of the days’ events. This is both for the competitors and the sponsors and helps us to get the widest possible coverage of the event. The Schools Challenge gets more popular each and every year, this is down to you all, for coming back, year on year, and encouraging new schools and individuals to join in. Obtaining places at these competitions is getting increasingly difficult as it gets booked up fast, so if you want to come and take part at Bredon Schools Challenge get your entries in now, we look forward to seeing you all again in May. Entry forms can be downloaded from the Schools Challenge website. www.thechoolschallenge.co.uk. Incidentally, this year we are also hosting the Oxford Brookes University Championship, which we hope will become as popular as the Schools Challenge has been. This we hope will become the natural transition for competitors to compete in once they leave school to continue shooting competitively.

Incidentally, this year we are also hosting the Oxford Brookes University Championship, which we hope will become as popular as the Schools Challenge has been. This we hope will become the natural transition for competitors to compete in once they leave school to continue shooting competitively.
