General Advice on the use of W A LTHE R Small-Bore Rifles:

1. SightsBefore commencing to shoot, ensurethat the screws holding the front andrear sight are tightened up.

- The prism diopter is adjustable for50, 100, and 150 m. Setting the rearsight for these distances is effectedby means of the elevation screw.The scale markings must in eachinstance coincide with the Zero mark(see arrow).Windage correction: - If shots groupto right, turn knob = R to the left(anti-clockwise); if shots go to theleft, turn knob = L clockwise (asshown by arrows on knob).

Elevation correction: - If shots golow, turn knob = Tto the left; if shotsgroup high, turn knob = H to theright.3 clicks result in an alteration of themean centre of the group by onering on the target.

holder to the required position.

3. WALTHER Rifle Sling

JII. 19. Push sling end (a) throughloop (b), then apply sling swivel andbuckle (c). Adjust length as requiredby the shooter. When applying thesling to the left upper arm (left-hand-ed shooters, to the right upper arm),push loop (b) back until the sling fitsthe arm firmly. Finally, push fixinghook (d) through both parts of thesling and insert locking pin in theholes in the hook.

JII. 20. Attach the sling swivel to thesling holder. The rifle may now bebrought up to the shooting position.The sling, owing to its rigid methodof fixing, cannot change its firmposition. ill. 20

4. Match Triggers

JII. 21. Match trigger. The trigger is adjustablelengthwise and can be made to slope outwardsto either the left or the right.

Screw 1 for adjustment of trigger pull and let-off (to increase, turn right; to decrease, turnleft). Screw 2 for adjustment of trigger slack(to shorten, turn right; to lengthen turn left).

JII. 22. Match trigger with set-trigger. To usethe device, push trigger 1 forward until it isengaged (in direction of arrow). The rear trig-ger now has a very light and instantaneous let-off.

If trigger 1 is set and the shot is not to be fired,apply safety at once and open the breechcarefully!This is not a combination trigger!

JII. 27. Palm rest with extension. Can beadjusted to suit, - laterally and vertically.The grip can be turned.

JII. 30. To fit the palm rest, loosen the clam-ping screw in front and insert base in thesling rail, then tighten the clamping screw.Set the p'osition of the rest by means of theAllen screw (see illustration) and turn thegrip as required (see arrow).

The palm rests (JII. 28 and JII. 29) are atta-ched to the sling rail in the same manneras the sling holder.

JII. 44. Hold the bolt firmly with theleft hand and turn the bolt handle tothe right with the right hand. Thebolt may now be put back into theaction body. When doing so, pressthe bolt lock on the action bodydownward.

9. Care of the rifleAfter shooting, clean the bore of thebarrel thoroughly and wipe with apatch saturated with non-resinousand acid-free oil.

JII. 45. Place "the fingertip over themuzzle so as to prevent the tip ofthe cleaning rod (jag) from comingout of the muzzle. Do not push thejag with the patch right out of themuzzle and then try to withdraw therod by force.Lubricate the bolt lightly and leavea thin coat of oil on all metal partswhen the rifle is not in use. Wipethe bore with a dry patch before use.

It is recommended to remove thelead deposit from the chamber witha brass wire brush (NOT WITH ASTEEL. WIRE BRUSH) after firingabout 1 000 shots. The brush mustpenetrate the barrel to a depth ofnot more than 60-80 mm. Oil thebore again afterwards.
