Preparing your garage door

Before you begin:• Disable locks

• Remove any ropes connected to garage door

• Complete the following test to make sure yourgarage door is balanced and is not sticking orbinding:

1 Lift the door about halfway as shown. Releasethe door. If balanced, it should stay in place,supported entirely by its springs.

2 Raise and lower the door to see if there is anybinding or sticking

If your door binds, sticks, or is out of balance, calla trained door systems technician.

Identify the type and height of your garage door.Survey your garage area to see if any of theconditions below apply to your installation. Additionalmaterials may be required. You may find it helpful torefer back to this page and the accompanyingillustrations as you proceed with the installation ofyour opener.

Depending on your requirements, there are severalinstallation steps which may call for materials orhardware not included in the carton.

• Installation Step 1 - Look at the wall or ceilingabove the garage door. The header bracket mustbe securely fastened to structural supports.

• Installation Step 6 - Do you have a finished ceilingin your garage? If so, a support bracket andadditional fastening hardware may be required.

• Installation Step 4 - Depending upon garageconstruction, extension brackets or wood blocksmay be needed to install sensors.

• Installation Step 4 -Alternate floor mounting of thesafety reversing sensor will require hardware notprovided.

Do you have an access door in addition to thegarage door? If not, Model 53702 Emergency KeyRelease is required. See Accessories page.

Look at the garage door where it meets the floor.Any gap between the floor and the bottom of thedoor must not exceed 1/4" (0.625 cm). Otherwise,the safety reversal system may not work properly.See Adjustment Step 3. Floor or door should berepaired.

SECTIONAL DOOR INSTALLATIONS

Do you have a steel, aluminum, fiberglass or glasspanel door? If so, horizontal and vertical reinforce-ment is required (Installation Step 12).

The opener should be installed above the center ofthe door. If there is a torsion spring or centerbearing plate in the way of the header bracket, itmay be installed within 4 feet (1.20 m) to the left orright of the door center. See Installation Steps 1and 12.

• If your door is more than 7 feet (2.10 m) high, seerail extension kits listed on Accessories page.

ASSEMBLY STEP 1Assemble the Rail

To avoid installation difficulties, do not run thegarage door opener until instructed to do so.

1. Turn the opened rail carton upside down andempty its contents onto a level work surface.

2. Unfold the rails, taking care to avoid kinking thescrew rod joints.

3. Rotate the rail sections so that the flat side is downand the screw side is up for ait three lengths. Keepit clean and free of debris while you are working.

NOTE: During assembly, avoid pulling the rail sectionhousing the trolley rack away from the screw rod.The rack is factory set about 9" (23 cm) from the endof the screw rod to the center of the rack.

4. Beginning with the sprocket end, straighten thethree rail sections so that the screw rod is in astraight line at the joints. (Avoid handling the joints,which may have sharp edges.)

5. Carefully slide the pins at the top edge of the railinto the openings on the adjacent rail. It isessential that the rail assembly be on a levelsurface to achieve proper alignment and toavoid damage to the pins.

6. Insert two 1/4"-20xl-3/4" bolts through the centerholes of a brace, and place its open length againstthe rail at the joint, aligning the holes as shown.Position another brace on the opposite side of therail over the bolts, add 1/4"-20 lock nuts, and handtighten. Insert two additional bolts and handtighten.

7. Keeping the rail straight and on a level surface,grasp the screw rods on each side of theremaining joint and pivot into a straight line.Repeat steps 5 and 6.

8. With a 7/16 wrench, tighten bolts until snug,beginning with the center holes. Do notovertighten.

ASSEMBLY STEP 2Fasten the Rail To the Motor Unit

and Install the Trolley

NOTE: To aid in assembly and installation, replacethe foam packing around the motor unit. Remove itafter Installation Step 5.

• Working on a level surface, align the rail assemblywith the motor unit, as shown.

• Slip the coupling over the rail sprocket.

• Slide the rail through the motor unit bracket untilthe coupling fits securely over the motor unitsprocket.

• Align the two bolt holes in the rail with those in themotor unit bracket. Insert two 1/4"-20x5/8" hexbolts and lock nuts. Tighten securely with a 7/16"socket wrench.

• Slide the trolley onto and along the bottom of therail until it snaps firmly in place. Be certain toinstall it facing correctly: the trolley releasearm must be horizontal (lock position), with itsarrow pointed away from the motor unit.

INSTALLATION

IMPORTANT INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

To reduce the risk of severe injury or death:1. READAND FOLLOWALL INSTALLATIONWARNINGS

AND INSTRUCTIONS.

2. Install garagedoor opener only on properly balancedand lubricated garagedoor. An improperlybalanceddoor may not reversewhen required and could result inSEVEREINJURYor DEATH.

3. All repairs to cables, spring assemblies and otherhardware MUST bemade by a trained door systemstechnician BEFOREinstalling opener.

4. Disableall locks and remove all ropes connected togaragedoor BEFOREinstallingopener to avoidentanglement.

5. Install garagedoor opener 7 feet or more abovefloor.6. Mount emergency release handle6 feet above floor.7. NEVERconnect garagedoor opener to power source

until instructedto do so.

8. NEVERwear watches, rings or loose clothing whileinstalling or servicing opener. Theycould be caught ingarage door or opener mechanisms.

9. Install wall-mounted garage door control:• within sight of the garagedoor• out of reach of children at minimum height of 5 feet• away from all moving parts of the door.

10. Place entrapment warning label on wall next to garagedoor control.

11. Place manual release/safetyreversetest label in plainview on inside of garagedoor.

12. Upon completion of installation,test safety reversalsystem. Door MUST reverseon contact with a one-inch high object (ora 2x4 laid flat) on the floor.

SECTIONAL DOORAND ONE-PIECE DOOR WITH TRACK

1. Close the door and mark the inside verticalcenterline of the garage door.

2. Extend the line onto the header wall above thedoor.

You can fasten the header bracket within 4 feet(1.20 m) of the left or right of the door centeronly if a torsion spring or center bearing plateis in the way; or you can attach it to the ceiling(see page 14) when clearance is minimal. (Itmay be mounted on the wall upside down ifnecessary, to gain approximately (1 cm) 1/2".)

If you need to install the header bracket on a 2x4(on wall or ceiling), use lag screws (not provided)to securely fasten the 2x4 to structural supports asshown here and on page 13.

3. Open your door to the highest point of travel asshown. Draw an intersecting horizontal line on theheader walt 3" (7.5 cm) above the high point. Thisheight will provide travel clearance for the top edgeof the door.

NOTE: Door clearance brackets are available forsectional doors when headroom clearance is lessthan 2" (5 cm). See accessory page 39.

ONE-PIECE DOOR WITHOUT TRACK

1. Close the door and mark the inside verticalcenterline of your garage door. Extend the lineonto the header wall above door, as shown.

If headroom clearance is minimal, you can installthe header bracket on the ceiling. See page 14.

If you need to install the header bracket on a 2x4(on wall or ceiling), use lag screws (not provided)to securely fasten the 2x4 to structural supportsas shown.

2. Open your door to the highest point of travel asshown. Measure the distance from the top of thedoor to the floor. Subtract the actual height of thedoor. Add 8" (20 cm) to the remainder. (SeeExample).

3. Close the door and draw an intersecting horizontalline on the header walt at the determined height.NOTE: If the total number of inches exceeds theheight available in your garage, use the maximumheight possible, or refer to page 14 for ceilinginstallation.

INSTALLATION STEP 2Install the Header Bracket

You can attach the header bracket either to the wallabove the garage door, or to the ceiling. Follow theinstructions which wilt work best for your particularrequirements. Do not install the header bracketover drywall. If installing into masonry, useconcrete anchors (not provided).

• Center the bracket on the vertical centertine withthe bottom edge of the bracket on the horizontalline as shown (with the arrow pointing toward theceiling).

• Mark the vertical set of bracket holes (do not usethe holes designated for ceiling mount). Drill 3/16"pilot holes and fasten the bracket securely to astructural support with the hardware provided.

• Center the bracket on the vertical mark, no morethan 6" (15 cm) from the wall. Make sure the arrowis pointing toward the wall. The bracket can bemounted flush against the ceiling when clearanceis minimal.

• Mark the side holes. Drill 3/16" pilot holes andfasten bracket securely to a structural support withthe hardware provided.

INSTALLATION STEP 3Attach the Rail to the HeaderBracket

Position the opener on the garage floor below theheader bracket. Use packing material as aprotective base. NOTE: ff the door spring is in theway you'll need help. Have someone hold theopener securely on a temporary support to allowthe rail to clear the spring.

Position the rail bracket against the headerbracket.

Align the bracket holes and join with a clevis pinas shown.

Insert a ring fastener to secure.

INSTALLATION STEP 4

Install the Safety Reversing Sensor

The safety reversing sensor must be connectedand aligned correctly before the garage dooropener will move in the down direction.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUTTHE SAFETY REVERSING SENSOR

When properly connected and aligned, the sensorwill detect an obstacle in the path of its electronicbeam. The sending eye (with an orange indicatorlight) transmits an invisible light beam to thereceiving eye (with a green indicator light). If anobstruction breaks the light beam while the door isclosing, the door wilt stop and reverse to full openposition, and the opener lights will flash 10 times.

The units must be installed inside the garage so thatthe sending and receiving eyes face each otheracross the door, no more than 6" (15 cm) above thefloor. Either can be installed on the left or right of thedoor as long as the sun never shines directly into thereceiving eye lens.

The mounting brackets are designed to clip onto thetrack of sectional garage doors without additionalhardware.

• Be sure poweris not connected to the garage dooropener BEFOREinstalling the safety reversing sensor.

• To prevent SERIOUSINJURY or DEATHfrom a closinggaragedoor:- Correctly connect and align the safety reversing

sensor. This required safety device MUST NOTbedisabled.

- Install the safety reversing sensor so beam is NOHIGHERthan 6" (15 cm) above garage floor.

if it is necessary to mount the units on the wall, thebrackets must be securely fastened to a solidsurface such as the wall framing. Extension brackets(see accessories) are available if needed, ifinstalling in masonry construction, add a piece ofwood at each location to avoid drilling extra holes inmasonry if repositioning is necessary.

The invisible light beam path must be unobstructed.No part of the garage door (or door tracks, springs,hinges, rollers or other hardware) may interrupt thebeam while the door is closing.

INSTALLING THE BRACKETS

Be sure power to the opener is disconnected.install and align the brackets so the sensors will faceeach other across the garage door, with the beam nohigher than 6" (15 cm) above the floor. They may beinstalled in one of three ways, as follows.

Garage door track installation (preferred):

• Slip the curved arms over the rounded edge ofeach door track, with the curved arms facing thedoor. Snap into place against the side of the track.It should lie flush, with the lip hugging the backedge of the track, as shown in Figure 1.

If your door track will not support the bracketsecurely, walt installation is recommended.

Wall installation:

• Place the bracket against the walt with curved armsfacing the door. Be sure there is enough clearancefor the sensor beam to be unobstructed.

• If additional depth is needed, an extension bracket(see Accessories) or wood blocks can be used.

• Attach brackets to wall with lag screws(not provided).

Floor installation:

MOUNTING AND WIRING THE SAFETY SENSORS

• Slide a 1/4"-20xl/2" carriage bolt head into the sloton each sensor. Use wing nuts to fasten sensorsto brackets, with lenses pointing toward each otheracross the door. Be sure the lens is not obstructedby a bracket extension. See Figure 4.

• Finger tighten the wing nuts.

Recommended Wire Routing

1. Using insulated staples, run the wires from bothsensors to the rail at the door header(see Figure 5).

2. Cross and twist the two wires where they meetthe rail (see inset A). Run the wires inside thechannels at the top of the rail, along each side,to the motor unit. De not use the lower (trolley)channels. Use a screwdriver tip to tuck the wiressnugly into the channels.

NOTE: If your access door is near the garagedoor, you may choose to install the door control atthis time and run the door control wire along theraft with the sensor wires. Use one raft channel forthe door control wire and the other channel forboth sensor wires. If you choose this option, followinstructions 1-3 on page 21 now.

3. Pull wires taut across the top of the chassis andinsert into the opening above the terminal block(see Figure 5, Illustration B). You will complete thewiring in installation Step 7.

Hang the Opener

Three representative installations are shown. Yoursmay be different. Hanging brackets should be angled(Figure 1) to provide rigid support. On finishedceilings (Figure 2), attach a sturdy metal bracket tostructural supports before installing the opener. Thisbracket and fastening hardware are not provided(see accessories).

Existing brackets from a previous installation may befastened to the sides of the motor unit as inFigures 1 and 2, or to the mounting tabs as shown inFigure 3. Then continue with step 5 below.

1. Remove foam packaging. Measure the distancefrom each side of the motor unit to the structuralsupport.

2. Cut both pieces of the hanging bracket to requiredlengths.

3. Drill 3/16" pilot holes in the structural supports.

4. Attach one end of each bracket to a support with5/16"-18xl-7/8" lag screws.

5. Fasten the opener to the hanging brackets with5/16"-18x7/8" hex bolts, lock washers and nuts.

If you wish to utilize the two center mounting tabs,you must triangulate the vertical brackets foradditional stability. See Figure 3.

6. Check to make sure the rail is centered over thedoor (or in line with the header bracket if thebracket is not centered above the door).

7. Remove the 2x4. Operate the door manually. Ifthe door hits the rail, raise the header bracket.

Toavoid possible SERIOUSINJURYfrom a fallinggaragedoor opener, fasten it SECURELYto structuralsupports of the garage. Concreteanchors MUST be usedif installing any brackets into masonry.

INSTALLATION STEP 7Install the Door Control

Locate the door control within sight of the door at aminimum height of 5 feet where small children cannotreach, and away from all moving parts of the door anddoor hardware.

1. Strip 7/16" (11 mm) of insulation from one end ofthe bell wire. Connect it to the two screw terminalson the back of the door control by color: white wireto 2 and white/red wire to 1.

2. Fasten the Lighted Door Control Button securelywith 6ABx1-1/2" screws. If installing into drywall,drill 5/32" holes and use the anchors provided.

3. Run the bell wire up the walt and across the ceilingto the opener. Use insulated staples to secure thewire in several places. Be careful not to pierce thewire with a staple, creating a short or open circuit.

4. Receiver quick-connect terminals and the antennaare located on the back panel of the motor unit.Position the antenna wire as shown.

5. Strip 7/16" (11 mm) of insulation from end of bellwire. Connect bell wire to the quick-connectterminals as follows: white to white and white/red tored.

NOTE: When connecting multiple door controls to theopener, twist same color wires together. Insert wires intoquick-connect holes: white to white and red/white to red.

6. Use tacks or staples to permanently attach theentrapment warning label to the wall near the doorcontrol, and the manual release/safety reverse testin a prominent location on the inside of thegarage door.

NOTE: DO NOT connect the power and operate theopener at this time. The trolley will travel to the fullopen position, but will not return to the close positionuntil the sensor beam is connected and properlyaligned. See Safety Reversing Sensor instructionsbeginning on page 21.

Electrical Requirements

To avoid installation difficulties, do not run theopener until Step 9 below.

To reduce the risk of electric shock, your garage dooropener has a grounding type plug with a thirdgrounding pin. This plug will only fit into a groundingtype outlet. If the plug doesn't fit into the outlet youhave, contact a qualified electrician to install theproper outlet.

If permanent wiring is required by your localcode, refer to the following procedure.

To make a permanent connection through the 7/8"(2.19 cm) hole in the top of the motor unit:• Remove the motor unit cover screws and set the

cover aside.

• Remove the attached 3-prong cord.

• Connect the black (line) wire to the screw on thebrass terminal; the white (neutral) wire to thescrew on the silver terminal; and the ground wireto the green ground screw. The opener must begrounded.

• Reinstall the cover.

To avoid installation difficulties, do not run theopener until Step 9 below.

ALIGNING THE SAFETY SENSORS

• Plug in the opener. The indicator lights in both thesending and receiving eyes will glow steadily ifwiring connections and alignment are correct.

The sending eye orange indicator light will glowregardless of alignment or obstruction. If the greenindicator light in the receiving eye is off, dim, orflickering (and the invisible light beam path is notobstructed), alignment is required:

• Loosen the sending eye wing nut and readjust,aiming directly at the receiving eye. Lock in place.

• Loosen the receiving eye wing nut and adjust thesensor until it receives the sender's beam. Whenthe green indicator light glows steadily, tighten thewing nut.

TROUBLESHOOTING THE SAFETY SENSORS

1. If the sending eye indicator light does not glowsteadily after installation, check for:

• Electric power to the opener.• A short in the white or white/black wires. These

can occur at staples, or at opener connections.• Incorrect wiring between sensors and opener.• A broken wire.

2. If the sending eye indicator light glows steadily butthe receiving eye indicator light doesn't:

• Check alignment.• Check for an open wire to the receiving eye.

3. If the receiving eye indicator light is dim, realigneither sensor.

NOTE: When the invisible beam path is obstructedor misaligned while the door is closing, the door willreverse. If the door is already open, it will not close.The opener lights will flash 10 times. (See page 16.)

Install the Lights and Lens

• Install a 100 watt maximum light bulb in eachsocket. The lights wilt turn ON and remain lit forapproximately 4-1/2 minutes when power isconnected. Then the lights will turn OFE

• Insert bottom lens tabs into slots on chassis. Tilttowards chassis to engage top tabs, then dropdown gently into place. (See illustration.)

• To remove, depress both top lens tabs. Tilt lensslightly outward and down, then pull out to clearbulbs. Use care to avoid snapping off bottom lenstabs.

INSTALLATION STEP 12Fasten Door Bracket

Follow instructions which apply to your door typeas illustrated below or on the following page.

A horizontal brace should be long enough to besecured to 2 vertical supports. A vertical braceshould cover the height of the top panel.

The illustration shows one piece of angle iron as thehorizontal brace. For the vertical brace, 2 pieces ofangle iron are used to create a "U"-shaped support(Figure 1). The best solution is to check with yourgarage door manufacturer for an opener installationdoor reinforcement kit.

NOTE: Many vertical brace installations provide fordirect attachment of the clevis pin and door arm. Inthis case you will not need the door bracket; proceedto Step 13.

SECTIONAL DOORS

• Center the door bracket on the previously markedvertical centerline used for the header bracketinstallation. Note correct UP placement, asstamped inside the bracket. (Figure 2).

• Position the bracket on the face of the door withinthe following limits:

A) The top edge of the bracket 2"-4" (5-10 cm)below the top edge of the door.

B) The top edge of the bracket directly below anystructural support across the top of the door.

1.Assemble the door arm:

• Fasten the straight and curved door arm sectionstogether to the longest possible length (with a 2or 3 hole overlap).

• With the door closed, connect the straight doorarm section to the door bracket with the5/16"xl -1/4" clevis pin.

• Secure with a ring fastener.

2. Adjustment procedures:

On one-piece doors, before connecting the doorarm to the trolley, the travel limits must beadjusted. Limit adjustment screws are located onthe left side panel as shown on page 28. Followadjustment procedures below.

ADJUSTMENT STEP 1Adjust the UP and DOWN TravelLimits

Limit adjustment settings regulate the points at whichthe door will stop when moving up or down.

To operate the opener, press the Door Control pushbar. Run the opener through a complete travel cycle.

• Does the door open and close completely?

• Does the door stay closed and not reverseunintentionally when fully closed?

If your door passes both of these tests, no limitadjustments are necessary unless the reversing testfails (see Adjustment Step 3, page 30).

Adjustment procedures are outlined below. Read theprocedures carefully before proceeding toAdjustment Step 2. Use a screwdriver to make limitadjustments. Run the opener through a completetravel cycle after each adjustment.

NOTE: Repeated operation of the opener duringadjustment procedures may cause the motor tooverheat and shut off. Simply wait 15 minutes andtry again.

NOTE: If anything interferes with the door's upwardtravel, it will stop. If anything interferes with thedoor's downward travel (including binding orunbalanced doors), it will reverse.

Without a properly installed safety reversal system,persons (particularly small children) could beSERIOUSLYINJUREDor KILLEDby a closing garagedoor.

• Incorrect adjustment of garage door travel limits willinterfere with proper operation of safety reversalsystem.

• If one control (force or travel limits) is adjusted, theother control may also needadjustment.

• After ANY adjustments are made, the safety reversalsystem MUST be tested. Door MUST reverseoncontact with one-inch (2.5) high object (or 2x4 laidflat) on floor.

To prevent damage to vehicles, besure fully open doorprovides adequate clearance.

ADJUSTMENT STEP 2

Adjust the Force

Force adjustment controls are located on the backpanel of the motor unit. Force adjustment settingsregulate the amount of power required to open andclose the door.

If the forces are set too light, door travel may beinterrupted by nuisance reversals in the downdirection and stops in the up direction. Weatherconditions can affect the door movement, sooccasional adjustment may be needed.

The maximum force adjustment range is about3/4 of a complete turn. Do not force controlsbeyond that point. Turn force adjustment controlswith a screwdriver.

NOTE: If anything interferes with the door's upwardtravel, it will stop. If anything interferes with thedoor's downward travel (including binding orunbalanced doors), it will reverse.

Without a properly installed safety reversal system,persons (particularly small children) could beSERIOUSLYINJUREDor KILLEDby a closing garagedoor.

• Grasp the door bottom when the door is abouthalfway through DOWN (close) travel. The doorshould reverse. • With the door fully open, place a one-inch board(or a 2x4 laid flat) on the floor, centered under thegarage door.

• Operate the door in the down direction. The doormust reverse on striking the obstruction.

• If the door stops on the obstruction, it is nottraveling far enough in the down direction.Increase the DOWN limit by turning the DOWNlimit adjustment screw counterclockwise 1/4 turn.NOTE: On a sectional door, make sure limitadjustments do not force the door arm beyond astraight up and down position. • Repeat the test.

Using Your Garage Door Opener

Your Security÷ opener and hand-held remote controlhave been factory-set to a matching code whichchanges with each use, randomly accessing over100 billion new codes. Your opener will operate withup to eight Security÷ remote controls and oneSecurity÷ Keyless Entry System. If you purchase anew remote, or if you wish to deactivate any remote,follow the instructions in the Programming section.

Activate your opener with any of the following:• The hand-held Remote Control: Hold the large

push button down until the door starts to move.• The wall-mounted Door Controk Hold the push

button or bar down until the door starts to move.

• The Keyless Entry (See Accessories) If providedwith your garage door opener, it must beprogrammed before use. See Programming.

When the opener is activated (with the safetyreversing sensor correctly installed and aligned)

1. If open, the door will close. If closed, it will open.2. If closing, the door will reverse.

3. If opening, the door will stop.

4. If the door has been stopped in a partially openposition, it wilt close.

5. If obstructed while closing, the door will reverse. Ifthe obstruction interrupts the sensor beam, theopener lights will blink for five seconds.

6. If obstructed while opening, the door will stop.

7. If fully open, the door will not close when the beamis broken. The sensor has no effect in the openingcycle.

If the sensor is not installed, or is misaligned, thedoor won't close from a hand-held remote. However,you can close the door with the Door Control, theOutdoor Key Switch, or Keyless Entry, if you activatethem until down travel is complete. If you releasethem too soon, the door will reverse.

The opener lights wilt turn on under the followingconditions: when the opener is initially plugged in;when power is restored after interruption; when theopener is activated.

They will turn off automatically after 4-1/2 minutes.

Security÷ Light Feature: Lights will also turn onwhen someone walks through the open garage door.With a Premium Control Console, this feature may beturned off as follows: With the opener lights off, pressand hold the light button for 10 seconds, until thelight goes on, then off again. To restore this feature,start with the opener lights on, then press and holdthe light button for 10 seconds until the light goes off,then on again.

Press the lighted push button to open orclose the door. Press again to reversethe door during the closing cycle or tostop the door while it's opening.

To Open the Door Manually

Having a Problem?

1. The opener doesn't operate from either the DoorControl or the remote control:

• Does the opener have electric power? Plug a lamp into theoutlet. If it doesn't light, check the fuse box or the circuitbreaker. (Some outlets are controlled by a wall switch.)

• Have you disabled all door locks? Review installationinstruction warnings on page 11.

• Is there a build-up of ice or snow under the door? The doormay be frozen to the ground. Remove any restriction.

• The garage door spring may be broken. Have it replaced.

• Repeated operation may have tripped the overloadprotector in the motor. Wait 15 minutes and try again.

2. Opener operates from the remote, but not from theDoor Control:

• Is the door control lit? If not, reverse the wires If theopener runs, check for a faulty wire connection at the doorcontrol, a short under the staples, or a broken wire

• Are the wiring connections correct? Review InstallationStep 7, page 21

3. The door operates from the Door Control, but not fromthe remote control:

• Is the door push button flashing? If your model has theLock feature, make sure it is off

• Program the opener to match the remote control code(Refer to instructions on the motor unit panel.) Repeat withall remotes

4. The remote control has short range:

• Change the location of the remote control in your car

• Check to be sure the antenna on the side or back panel ofmotor unit extends fully downward

• Some installations may have shorter range due to a metaldoor, foil backed insulation, or metal garage siding(Antenna Extender Kit 41A3504)

5. Opener noise is disturbing in living quarters of home:

• If operational noise is a problem because of proximity of theopener to the living quarters, the Vibration isolator Kit41A3263 can be installed. This kit was designed tominimize vibration to the house and is easy to install.

6. The garage door opens and closes by itself:

• Be sure that all remote control push buttons are off.

• Remove the bell wire from the door control terminals and

operate from the remote only If this solves the problem, thedoor control is faulty (replace), or there is an intermittentshort on the wire between the door control and the motorunit

• Clear memory and re-program all remote controls

7. The door doesn't open completely:

• Is something obstructing the door? Is it out of balance, orare the springs broken? Remove the obstruction or repairthe door.

• If the door is in good working order but now doesn't openall the way, increase the up force See Adjustment Step 2

• If the door opens at least 5 feet, the travel limits may needto be increased One turn equals 2 inches of travel SeeAdjustment Step 1

Repeat the safety reverse test after the adjustment iscomplete

8. The door stops but doesn't close completely:

• Review the travel limits adjustment procedures on page 28

Repeat the safety reverse test after any adjustment of doorarm length, close force or down limit.

9. The door opens but won't close:

• If the opener lights blink, check the safety reversing sensor.See Installation Step 9

• If the opener lights don't blink and it is a new installation,check the down force. See Adjustment Step 2. For anexisting installation, see below.

Repeat the safety reverse test after the adjustmentis complete.

10. The door reverses for no apparent reason and openerlights don't blink:

• Is something obstructing the door? Pull the emergencyrelease handle Operate the door manually If it isunbalanced or binding, call for professional garage doorservice

• Clear any ice or snow from the garage floor area where thedoor closes

• Review Adjustment Step 2

• If door reverses in the fully closed position, decrease thetravel limits (Adjustment Step 1)

Repeat safety reverse test after adjustments to force or travellimits. The need for occasional adjustment of the force andlimit settings is normal. Weather conditions in particular canaffect door travel

11. The door reverses for no apparent reason and openerlights blink for 5 seconds after reversing:

• Check the safety reversing sensor, Remove any obstructionor align the receiving eye, See/nsta//ation Step 9.

12, The opener lights don't turn on:

• Replace the light bulbs (100 watts maximum). Useastandard neck garage door opener bulb if regular bulbburns out

13, The opener lights don't turn off:

• Is the Light feature on? Turn it off.

14. The opener strains or maximum force is needed tooperate door:

• The door may be out of balance or the springs may bebroken Close the door and use the emergency releasehandle to disconnect the trolley Open and close the doormanually A properly balanced door will stay in any point oftravel while being supported entirely by its springs If itdoes not, disconnect the opener and call a professionalgarage door serviceman. Do not increase the force tooperate the opener.

15. The opener motor hums briefly, then won't work:

• The garage door springs may be broken. See above.

• If the problem occurs on the first operation of the opener.door may be locked Disable the door lock

16, The opener won't operate due to power failure:

PROGRAMMING

Your garage door opener has already been programmed at the factory to operate with your hand-held remotecontrol. The door will open and close when you press the large push button.

Below are instructions for programming your opener to operate with additional Security.l- remote controls.

To Add an Additional Hand-held Remote Control

USING THE "LEARN" BUTTON USING THE PREMIUM CONTROL CONSOLE

1. Press and release the 'learn"button on the motor unit. Thelearn indicator light will glowsteadily for 30 seconds.

2. Within 30 seconds, press andhold the button on the hand-heldremote* that you wish to operateyour garage door.

3. Release the button when themotor unit lights blink. It haslearned the code. If light bulbs arenot installed, two clicks will beheard.

1. Press and hold the button on thehand-held remote* that you wishto operate your garage door.

2. While holding the remote button,press and hold the LIGHT buttonon the Premium Control Console.

3. Continue holding both buttonswhile you press the push bar onthe Premium Control Console(all three buttons are held).

4. Release buttons when the motorunit lights blink. It has learned thecode. If light bulbs are notinstalled, two clicks will be heard.

To Erase All Codes From Motor

NOTE: Your new Keyless Entry must be programmed to operate your garage door opener.

To change an existing, known PiN

2. Press the new 4-digit PIN you have chosen, thenpress Enter.

The motor unit lights will blink once when the PIN hasbeen learned.

Test by pressing the new PIN, then press Enter. Thedoor should move.

To set a temporary PiN

You may authorize access by visitors or service peoplewith a temporary 4-digit PIN. After a programmednumber of hours or number of accesses, this temporaryPIN expires and will no longer open the door. It can beused to close the door even after it has expired. To seta temporary PIN:1. Press the four buttons for your personal entry PIN

(not the last temporary PIN), then press and hold thebutton.

The opener light will blink three times. Release thebutton.

NOTE: This method requires two people if the KeylessEntry is already mounted outside the garage.

Preparacibn de la puerta desu cochera

Antes de comenzar:

• Desarme las cerraduras

• Retire cualquier cuerda o cable que est6 conectado a lapuerta

• Haga la siguiente prueba con su puerta para verificarque est6 equilibrada y que no se atore ni se pandee:

Planificacibn

Identifique la altura y el tipo de su puerta de cochera.Revise el _rea de su cochera y observe si alguna de]as siguientes instalaciones corresponden a la suya.A veces se requieren materiales adicionales, asi que talvez sea conveniente tener esta hoja y las ilustracionescerrespondientes a la mane cuando inicie la instalaci6n desu abridor.

Dependiendo de sus necesidades individuales, es posiblequeen algunos cases vaya a necesitar materiales oherramientas que no se incluyen con este producto.

• Instalaci6n Paso 1 - Observe la pared o el cielo rasojusto arriba de la puerta de la cochera La m6nsula delcabezal debe de estar firmernente sujeta a los soportesde la estructura.

• ]nstalaci6n Paso 6 - Si el plaf6n o cielo raso de sucochera tiene acabados, es posible que necesite unam6nsula de soporte y/o m_s pernos y tornilleria para lainstalaci6n.

• ]nstalaci6n Paso 4 - Dependiendo del tipo deconstrucci6n de su cochera, es posible que necesitem6nsulas de extensi6n o bloques de rnadera parainstalar los sensores

• ]nstalaci6n Paso 4 - El montaje al ras del piso delsensor que activa el sistema de reversa de seguridadpodria requerir piezas que no se incluyen

LHay otra puerta que d6 acceso a la cochera? Si no esasi, ser_ necesario contar con el sistema de llave de

emergencia Modelo 53702. Vea la p_gina de Accesorios.

Observe el punto donde la puerta hace contacto con elpiso. El espacio entre la base de la puerta y el piso nodebe exceder 0.625 cm (1/4 de pulgada). Si no es asi,se corre el riesgo de que el sistema de reversa deemergencia no funcione correctamente. Vea Ajustes,Paso 3. Va a ser necesario reparar ya sea el piso o lapuerta.

INSTALACI(3N CON UNA PUERTA SECCIONAL

• Si tiene una puerta de aluminio, fibra de vidrio, o conpaneles de vidrio, va a necesitar refuerzos verticales yhorizontales en la puerta. (Instalaci6n, Paso 12).

• El abridor se debe instalar arriba del centre de la puerta,pete si existe algDn resorte de tensi6n o placa de apoyoen el paso de la m6nsula del cabezal, se puede instalarhasta a 120 m (4 pies) a la derecha o a la izquierda delcentre de la puerta. Yea Instalaci6n, Pasos 1 a112.

• Si su puerta es de m_s de 210 m (7 pies) de altura, veaExtensiones de riel en la Secci6n de Accesorios.

INSTALACI(3N CON PUERTAS DE UNA SOLA PIEZA

• Generalmente una puerta de una sola pieza no requierede refuerzos adicionales. Si usted tiene una puerta dematerial liviano y quiere reforzarla, consulte lainformaci6n respecto a puertas seccionales, contenidaen Instalaci6n, Paso 12.

• Dependiendo del diseSo de su puerta, tal vez necesitepiezas o sujetadores adicionales para la m6nsula de lapuerta (Paso 12).

Montaje del riel

No encienda ni use el abridor hasta que Ilegue a! pasode la insta!acibn correspondiente, de otra manera

corre el riesgo de complicar el proceso de instalacibn.

1. Despuds de abrir la caja del riel, p6ngala boca abajosobre una superficie de trabajo plana.

2. Desdoble los rieles con cuidado de no golpear la juntade la varilla de conexidn.

3. Voltee las secciones del riel de manera que el ladopiano est6 hacia abajo y el iado de ia varilia est6 haciaarriba.

NOTA: Durante el montaje del riel nunca mueva nijale elasiento para el trole lejos de la varilla de conexidn. Elasiento para el trole sale de la f&brica a 23 cm (9 pulg.)del extremo de la varilla de conexi&n, midiendo hacia elcentro.

Instalacibn del riel (Continuacibn)

4. Empezando en el extremo con la rueda dentada,coloque las tres secciones del riel de manera que lavarilla de conexi6n est6 alineada. (Tenga cuidado de notocar el extremo de la varilla de conexi6n ya que tieneorillas afiladas.)

5. Cuidadosamente deslice los pasadores en la orillasuperior de una de las secciones del riel en los orificiosde la secci6n adyacente del rieL Es rnuy importanteque este paso se realice sobre una superficie plana,de otra manera corre el riesgo de que el riel no est6correctamente alineado o que se dahen lospasadores.

6. Coloque dos de los pemos de 1/4-20xl-3/4 de pulg. atrav6s de una de los puntales de soporte, despu6s,ponga el puntal con los pemos en los orificios a Io largode la conexi6n de las dos secciones del rieL Coloque elotro puntal de soporte al lado opuesto del riel sobre lospernos y ponga las tuercas de 1/4-20 de pulg. Apriete amano y coloque el resto de los pernos y tuercas.

7. Manteniendo el riel recto y sobre una superficie biennivelada, tomar las varillas atornilladas a cada lado de launi6n restante y colocar en linea recta. Repetir lospasos 5 y 6.

8. Con una Ilave de tuercas de 7/16 de pulg. y empezandoal centro, ajuste las tuercas hasta que queden bienapretadas. No apriete en exceso.

Sujete el riel a la unidad del motor einstale el trole

NOTA: Para facilitarle el montaje y la instalaci6n del motor,vuelva a colocarlo dentro del hule espuma de protecciSn,retire la espuma despu6s de concluir Instalaci6n, Paso 5.

• Sobre una superficie plan& alinee el riel ya armado al

motor como se muestra en la siguiente ilustraci6n.

• Deslice el cople sobre la polea del rieL

• Deslice el riel a trav6s de la m6nsula del motor hasta

que el cople quede bien ajustado sobre la polea delmotor,

• Alinee los dos orificios para los pernos del riel con loscorrespondientes orificios de la m6nsula del motor.Sujete con los pernos hexagonales de 1/4-20x5/8 pulg.y sus respectivas tuercas, Apri6telos con una Ilave detuercas de 7/16 de pulg.

• Deslice el trole por debajo y a Io largo del riel hasta quese atore en su lugar, Aseg_rese de instalarlo del lado¢orrecto, el brazo de liberaci6n del trole debe deestar horizontal (posici6n ¢errada), con la flechaapuntando en la direccibn opuesta del motor.

INSTALACION

INSTRUCCIONES MUY IMPORTANTES PARA LA INSTALACION

Para reducir el riesgo de una lesibn grave o la muerte:1. LEAY SIGAAL PiE DE LA LETRATODASLAS

INSTRUCCIONESPARALA INSTALACI6N.

2. Instale el abridor de puerta de cochera s61osi ]a puerta de lacochera est_ debidamente equilibrada y lubricada. Si la puertano est_ debidamente equilibrada es posible que no retrocedacuando asi se requiere, Io que podria ocasionar una LESIONGRAVEo incluso LA MUERTE.

3. Todas las reparacionesde los cables, resortesy otras parteslas DEBEIlevar a cabo un t_cnico especializado en sistemasde puertas, ANTESde instalar el abridor.

4. Desarmetodos los seguros y retire todas las cuerdasconectadas a la puerta de ]a cochera ANTES de instalar elabridor con el objeto de evitar que se enreden.

5. Instale el abridor de la puerta de cochera a una distancia de2.10 rn (7 pies) del piso.

6. Monte la manija de liberaci6n de emergencia a una distanciade 1.80 rn (6 pies) del piso.

7. NUNCAconecteel abridor de ]a puerta decochera a una fuentede energiael_ctrica hastaque asi se indique.

8. NUNCAIlevepuestos relojes, anillos ni prendas muy flojasmientras estd instalando o dando servicio al abridor, puespodrian atorarse en la puerta de la cochera o en losmecanismos del abridor.

9. Instale el control de pared de la puerta de cochera:• de maneraque quede a lavista desde la puerta de

la cochera

• fuera del alcance de los ni_os y a una altura minima de 5pies

• lejos de todas las partes m6viles de la puerta,10, Coloquelacalcomanfaqueadviertesobreel desgodeenredarse

cercadel controlde la puertade la cochera,en la pared,11, Coloque la calcomanfa que contiene la pruebade reversa de

seguridad y liberaci6n de emergencia a plena vista en laparte interior de la puerta de la cochera.

12, AI concluir la instalaci6n, pruebe el sistema de reversa desegurida& La puerta DEBEretroceder al entrar en contactocon un objeto de2.5 cm (1 pulg.) o bien con un pedazo demadera de 5 x 10 cm (2x4 pulg.) puesto sobre el piso,

• SIEMPREIlameaunt6cnicoespecializadoensistemasdepuertassi la puertadecocherasepandea,seatoraosi estddesequilibrada.Unapuertadecocheraqueno est_equilibradapuedeno retrocedercuandose requiera.

El proceso de instalaci6n varia dependiendo de losdiferentes tipos de puerta de cochera. Siga lasinstrucciones que correspondan a su puerta.

PUERTA SECCIONALY PUERTA DE UNA SOLA PIEZA CON CARRIL

1. Cierre la puerta y marque la linea central vertical delinterior de la puerta.

2. ContinQe marcando esta linea hacia arriba hasta Ilegar a]a pared delantera, arriba de la puerta.

Es posible instalar la m6nsula del cabezal hasta auna distancia de mbximo 1.20 m (4 pies) a cada ladodel centro de la puerta, pero t_nicamente si unresorte de torsibn o un placa central de apoyo seencuentra en el recorrido. Tambi6n cuando elespacio es reducido, se puede instalar la m6nsula enel cielo raso o plafbn de la cochera (vea la pbgina14). (Asimismo, se puede instalar invertida sobre lapared si es necesario, esto le darb aproximadamente1.25 cm (1/2 pulg.) de espacio.)

Si necesita instalar la m6nsula del cabezal en un pedazo

de madera de 5x10 cm (2x4 pulg.) (ya sea en la pared oen el techo), use tornillos de cabeza cuadrada o pijas (noprovisto) para sujetar el pedazo de madera de 5x10 cm(2x4 pulg.) a los soportes estructurales, como se indicaaqui yen la p_gina 13.

PUERTA DE UNA SOLA PIEZA SIN CARRIL

1. Cierre la puerta y marque la linea central vertical en laparte interior de la puerta de la cochera. Extienda estalinea hasta la pared delantera arriba de la puerta, comese muestra en la ilustraci6n.

Si el espacio en la parte superior es muy reducido,puede instalar la m6nsula del cabezal en el techo. Veala p_gina 14.

Si es necesario instalar la m6nsula del cabezal en un

pedazo de madera de 5x10 cm (2x4 pulg.) ya sea en lapared o en el cielo raso, use los tornillos de cabezacuadrada o pijas (no se incluyen) para sujetar elpedazo de madera de 5x10 cm (2x4 puig.) a lossoportes de la estructura de la cochera,come se muestra.

2. Abra la puerta hasta el punto m_s alto del recorridocomo se muestra. Mida la distancia entre la partesuperior de la puerta y el piso, a esto r6stele laaltura real de la puerta, y al resultado sQmele 20 cm(8 pulg.). (Vea el ejemplo).

3. Cierre la puerta de la cochera y marque una lineahorizontal sobre la pared delantera a la altura que lehaya determinado mediante el c_lculo anterior.

NOTA: Si el nQmero total de centimetros exeede la

altura disponible en su cochera, use la altura m_ximaposible, o consulte la p&gina 14 para la Instalaci6n en elcielo raso o plafSn.

El sensor del sistema de reversa de seguridad debeestar instalado y correctamente alineado, antes de queel abridor de la puerta de cochera mueva la puertahacia abajo. Este es un dispositivo de seguridad queno se puede desactivar.

INFORMACI(_N IMPORTANTE CON RESPECTOAL SENSOR DEL S|STEMA DE REVERSADE SEGURIDAD

Si se instala y se alinea correctamente, el sensor delsistema de reversa de seguridad detectar_ cualquierobst_culo que se cruce en el recorrido del rayo electr6nico.El ojo emisor (el que tiene la luz indicadora de coloranaranjado) envia un rayo electr6nico invisible al ojoreceptor (el que tiene la luz indicadora de color verde). SialgQn objeto obstruyera este rayo invisible mientras lapuerta se est_ cerrando, la puerta se detendr_autom_ticamente, retroceder_ hasta abrirse por completo,y la luz del abridor parpadear_ diez veces.

Estos sensores se deben de instalar en el interior de lacochera de manera que el ojo emisor y el ojo receptorest6n uno frente al otro a ambos lados de la puerta y auna distancia m_xima de 15 cm (6 pulg.) del piso. Ambossensores se pueden instalar en cualquiera de los doslados de la puerta, ya sea el derecho o el izquierdo,siempre y cuando nunca le d6 el sol directamente a lalente del ojo receptor.

INSTALACI(3N DE LAS MENSULAS

Asegdrese de que el abridor no est6 conectado a |acorriente eldctrica.

]nstale y alinee las m6nsulas de manera que los sensoresest6n uno frente al otro en los lados opuestos de lapuerta, a una distancia m_xima de 15 cm (6 pulg.) delpiso. Instale las m6nsulas de acuerdo con una de las tresmaneras siguientes.

Instalaci6n en el carril de la puerta de la cochera(recomendada) :

• Deslice los brazos curvos sobre la orilla redondeada decada uno de los carriles de la puerta, con los brazoscurvos apuntando hacia la puerta. Col6quelos en suposici6n contra el costado del carriL Debe de quedarparejo, con el reborde pegado a la orilla posterior delcarril, como se ilustra en la Figura 1.

Si el carril de su puerta no soporta la m6nsula firmemente.se recomienda que la instale sobre la pared.

Instalaci6n en la pared:

• Coloque la m6nsula contra la pared con los brazoscurvos apuntando hacia la puerta. Cerci6rese de quehaya suficiente espacio para que el rayo del sensor nose tope con ninguna obstrucci6n.

• Si es necesario tener m_s profundidad, puede usarm6nsulas de extensi6n (yea Accesorios) o pedazos demadera.

• Use los orificios de montaje de la m6nsula para marcar otaladrar (2) los dos orificios de 3/16 de pulgada deall,metro a cada lado de la puerta a una distanciam_xima de 15 cm (6 pulg.) del piso.

• Sujete la m6nsula a la pared con tornillos de cabezacuadrada o pijas (no se incluyen).

• Si est_ usando m6nsulas de extensi6n o pedazos demadera por la falta de espacio, asegOrese de que lasdos unidades queden a la misma distancia de lasuperficie de montaje. Asimismo. asegt]rese de que nohaya ninguna obstrucci6n.

Instalaci6n en el piso:

• Use pedazos de madera o m6nsulas de extensi6n (veaAccesorios) para elevar las m6nsulas de los sensores demanera que las lentes queden a una distancia m_ximade 15 cm (6 pulg.) del piso.

• Cuidadosamente mida y instale las unidades derecha yizquierda a la misma distancia con respecto a la pared.Asegt_rese de que no haya ninguna obstrucci6n.

• Sujete al piso las m6nsulas para los sensores con lossujetadores para el piso, como se muestra en]a ilustraci6n.

MONTAJE Y CABLEADO DE LOS SENSORES DELSISTEMA DE REVERSA DE SEGURIDAD

• Deslice la cabeza de un pemo de coche de 14-20xl/2pulgada dentro de la ranura de los sensores. Usetuercas de mariposa para sujetar los sensores alasm6nsulas, con las lentes de cada sensor frente a frentea ambos lados de la puerta. Cerci6rese de que laextensi6n de la m6nsula no obstruya las lentes. Vea laFigura 4.

• Apriete las tuercas de mariposa a mano.

Ruta recomendada para el cableado

1. Usando grapas con aislamiento, corra los cables de losdos sensores hasta el riel del cabezal de la puerta (veala Figura 5).

2. Cruce y tuerza los dos cables cuando Ilegan al riel, (yea]a Figura 5, ilustraci6n A). Ponga los cables dentro de lacanaleta de la parte superior del riel a Io largo de ambos]ados, hasta que Ileguen al motor. No use la canaletade la parte inferior del riel ya que es para el trole.Con la punta de un desarmador meta bien los cablesdentro de la canaleta.

NOTA: Si la puerta de aecese a su cochera se encuentramuy cerca de la puerta de la cochera, puede optar porinstalar la unidad de control en este memento y correr elcableado del control de la puerta a Io largo del riel, juntocon los cables de los sensores. Use una canaleta del riel

para los cables de ambos sensores, y la otra para loscables de la unidad de control. Si usted opta per haceresto, siga ahora las instrucciones contenidas en la p&gina21, pasos 1 al 3.

3. Jale los cables de manera que queden tensos a trav6sde la parte superior del chasis y p_selos por el orificioque se encuentra sobre el bloque de terminales (vea laFigura 5, Ilustracibn B). Terminar_ el proceso decableado cuando Ilegue al paso 7 de la Instalaci6n.

Cuelgue el abridor

Aqui se muestran tres ejemplos distintos para lainstalaci6n; sin embargo, es posible que su cochera noconcuerde con ninguno de ellos. Las m6nsulas de soportedeben de estar en _ngulo (Figura 1), para queproporcionen un soporte rigido. En caso de tener un cieloraso (Figura 2), instale una m6nsula de metal resistente enalgOn soporte de la estrucura antes de instalar el abridor.No se incluye esta m6nsula ni la tornilleria.(Vea Accesorios)

Los soportes existentes de una instalaci6n previa puedenfijarse a los lados de la unidad del motor como ilustrado en]as Figuras 1 y 2, o alas aletas de montaje como ilustradoen la Figura 3. A continuaci6n continQe con el Paso 5de abajo.

1. Mida la distancia entre cada lado de la unidad del motor

y el soporte de la estructura.

2. Corte las dos partes de las m6nsulas colgantes a lamedida adecuada.

3. Taladre los orificios de 3/16 de puigada en los soportesde la estructura.

4. Sujete un extremo de cada m6nsula al soporte contornillos de cabeza cuadrada o pijas de5/16 -18xl-7/8 pulgadas.

5. Sujete el abridor alas m6nsulas colgantes con pernoshexagonales de 5/16 -18x7/8 pulg., y sus tuercas yroldanas corespondientes.

Si desea usar las m6nsulas de una instalaci6n previa,debe de colocar una de las m6nsulas colgantes (que seincluye en el paquete) en diagonal con respecto a lasm6nsulas existentes. Vea la Figura 3.

6. Verifique que el abridor est6 centrado sobre la puerta (oalineado con la m6nsula del cabezal, si la m6nsula noest_ centrada sobre la puerta).

7. Quite el pedazo de madera de 5x10 cm (2x4 pulg.).Haga funcionar la puerta manualmente. Si la puertagolpea el riel, suba la m6nsula del cabezaL

Instale la unidad de control de la puerta

Ubicar el control de la puerta a la vista de la puerta y a unaaltura minima de 5 pies, donde los niSos pequehos nopuedan alcanzar y edem&s alejado de todos loscomponentes en movimiento de la puerta y de la tornilleriade la puerta.

1. Quitar 11 mm (7/16 de pulg.) del aislamiento de unextremo del alambre de timbre; conectar el alambre a lasdos tornillos de terminales que se encuentran en la parteposterior del control de la puerta, de acuerdo al color,blanco a 2 y blancoVojo a 1.

2. Sujetar el boton iluminado del control de la puertasGlidamente mediante tomillos 6ABx1-1/2". Si la

instalaciGn se hace en pared de yeso, taladrar tornillosde 5/32" y utilizar los taquetes proporcionedos.

3. Guiar el cable de timbre hacia arriba de la pared y atraves del techo al abre puerta. Utilizar las grapasaisladas para fijar el cable en varios lugares. Tenercuidedo de no perforar el cable con una grapa, Io cualpuede provocar un cortocircuito.

4. Terminales de conexiGn r&pida del receptor y la antenase encuentran en el tablero posterior del motor.Colocar el cable de la antena como se muestra.

5. Pele 11 mm (7/16 de pulg.) de aislaciGn de cedaconjunto de cables. Inserte el cable de control de lapuerta dentro de los conectores de conexi6n r&pida porcolor: cable blanco a blanco, cable blanco/rojo a rojo.

NOTA: AI conectar controles mE_ltiplesde la puerta al abre-puertas, tuerza juntos los cables del mismo colo_:lnserte loscables en los orificios de conexi6n r_pida: blanco a blancoy rojo/blanco a rojo.

6. Use tachuelas o grapas para sujetar permanentementela calcomania de edvertencia sobre el riesgo de quedaratrapedo; esta calcomania debe estar en la pared ycerca del control de la puerta. La calcomania deadvertencia de la prueba de reversa de segurided yliberaciGn manual debe colocarse en un puntoprominente del interior de la puerta de la cochera.

NOTA: NO conectar la corriente y operar el abre puerta eneste momento. El carro se desplazar_ a la posiciSncompletamente abierta pero no regresar_ a la posiciSncerrada sino hasta que el rayo detector haya sidoconectado y alineado correctamente.Consultar lasinstrucciones del detector de seguridad de reversa quecomienzan en la p_gina 21.

Requisitos para la instalaci6n el6ctrica

Para evitar dificultades con la instalaci6n, no enciendani use el abridor hasta despu6s de haber completadoel paso 9.

Para reducir el riesgo de cheque electrico, su abridor parapuerta de cochera viene con una clavija de conexiSn atierra de tres patas Esta clavija s61o se puede conectar auna toma de corriente puesta a tierra y con tres entradasSi la clavija no entra en la toma de corriente que ustedtiene, dirijase a un electricista profesional para que leinstale la toma de corriente correcta

cocococOSi la reglamentaci6n local exige que su abridor tengacableado permanente, siga los siguientes pasos.

Para conectar el abridor a la corriente electrica de forma

permanente a traves del orificio de 2.19 cm (7/8 pulg.)Iocalizado en la parte superior del motor:

• Quite los tornillos de la tape del abridor y deje lacubierta a un lade.

• Vuelva a porter la tape en su lugar y atornille

C6MO ALINEAR LOS SENSORES DE SEGURIDAD

• Conecte el abridor; las luces del sensor emisor y delsensor receptor se deben de encender y permanecerencendidas si todas las conexiones del cableado y laalineaci6n se hart hecho correctamente

La luz anaranjada del sensor que emite el rayo seencender& aunque este obstruido o fuera de alineaci6n,pero si la luz verde del sensor receptor del rayo est&apagada, parpadea o se ve baja, (y no hay ningunaobstrucci6n en el recorrido del rayo de luz invisible) ser&necesario alinearlos

DIAGN(_STICO DE FALLAS CON RESPECTO A LOSSENSORES DEL SISTEMA DE REVERSA DE SEGURIDAD

1 Si la luz verde del sensor que emite el rayo no permaneceencendida despues de la instalaciSn, verifique Io siguiente:

• El suministro de corriente electrica al abridor

• Que haya un corto circuito en alguno de los cables, yasea el banco, o el blanco y negro Esto ocurrefrecuentemente donde hay alguna grapa o en lasconexiones de las terminales roscadas

• AIg0n error en la conexiSn de los cables de los sensoresal abridor

• AIgOn cable rote

2 Si la luz indicadora del sensor que emite el rayo enciendey permanece encendida, pero la luz del otro sensor noenciende:

• Verifique que esten correctamente alineados

• Verifique que no haya un corto en el cable del sensorreceptor

3 Si la luz indicadora del sensor receptor esta debil o baja,verifique la alineaci6n de los sensores

INSTALACION, PASO 12

Sujete la m6nsula de la puerta

Siga las instrucciones que correspondan al tipo de puertade cochera que usted tenga, come se muestra en lailustraci6n o en la p&gina siguiente.

Si usa un puntal horizontal, _ste debe de ser Iosuficientemente largo para sujetarlo a dos soportesverticales. Si usa un puntal vertical, _ste debe de serde la altura del panel superior.

La ilustraci6n muestra una pieza de hierro en &ngulo comepuntal horizontal. Para el puntal vertical se deben usar dospiezas de hierro en &ngulo con objeto de crear un soporteen "U" (Figura 1). La mejor soluci6n es ponerse encontacto con la compafi{a fabricante de la puerta de sucochera e informarse acerca de los juegos de refuerzos depuertas para la instalaci6n de un abridor.

NOTA: Muchas de las instalaciones con soporte opuntal vertical toman en cuenta la instalaciSn directa delos pasadores de chaveta y el brazo de la puerta. En estecaso, no necesitar_ instalar la m#nsula para la puerta;proceda al Paso 13.

PUERTAS SECCIONALES

• Coloque la mensula para la puerta sobre la linea centralvertical que habia marcado previamente para lainstalaci6n de la mensula del cabezaL Aseg_rese deque la leyenda "UP" (arriba) este en la posici6ncorrecta, come est& indicado en la parte interior de la

mensula (Figura 2).

• Coloque la mensula sobre la parte frontal de la puerta,dentro de los limites siguientes:

A) El borde superior de la mensula 5-10 cm (2-4 pulg.)debajo del borde superior de la puerta.

Paraevitar que la puerta de la cochera se dafie, refuerce elinterior de la puerta con _ngulos de hierro tanto vertical comohorizontalmente.

• Marque y taladre dos orificios de 0.78 cm (5/16 de pulg.)para los sujetadores a la derecha y a la izquierda. Sujetela mensula al refuerzo vertical (si este existe), como semuestra en la Figura 1.

Si el tipo de instalaci6n de su cochera no requiere refuerzosverticales, pero si necesita los orificios para los sujetadoresde la mensula, taladre y sujete como se muestra en laFigura 2.

PUERTAS DE UNA SOLA PIEZA

Lea y respete todas las advertencias e instruccionesrespecto a los refuerzos, contenidas en la p&gina anterior,Instalaci6n de puerta plagables, ya que todos losrefuerzos para su puerta de una sola pieza sonlos mismos.

• Coloque la mensula de la puerta al centro de la partesuperior de la misma, alineada con la mensula delcabezal, segt_n se indica en la ilustraci6n. Marque yasea los orificios derecho e izquierdo o superior yinferior.

• Taladre los orificios piloto de 0.78 cm (5/16 pulg.) ysujete la mensula con la tornilleria que se incluye.

Si la puerta no tiene un marco exterior expuesto, taladredos orificios de 0.47 cm (3/16 pulg.) y sujete la mensula ala parte superior de la puerta con tomillos de cabezacuadrada de 5/16x1-1/2 pulg. (No provisto).

NOTA: La m#nsula para la puerta puede ser instaladasobre la orilla superior de la puerta si es necesario para suinstalaci6n en particular. (Vea la ilustraciSn de colocaciSnopcional, se#alada con la Ifnea punteada). Taladre dosorificios de 0.47 cm (3/16 de pulg.) y sujete la m6nsula ala parte superior de la puerta con tomillos de cabezacuadrada de 5/16x1-1/2 pulgadas (no se incluyen).

TODAS LAS PUERTAS DE UNA SOLA PIEZA

1. Arme el brazo de la puerta:

• Sujete las dos secciones del los brazos de la puerta(recto y curvo) a la mayor distancia posible, de (maneraque dos o tres de los orificios se sobrepongan uno alotro).

• Cierre la puerta y sujete la secciSn recta del brazo a lamensula de la puerta con el pasador de chaveta de5/16xl-t/4 de pulgada,

• Asegt_relos con un anillo sujetador,

2. Procedimiento de ajuste:

Si tiene una puerta de una sola pieza, deber& ajustar loslimites del recorrido antes de conectar el brazo de lapuert& Los tornillos de ajuste del limite de recorrido seencuentran en el panel del lado izquierdo, como semuestra en la ilustraciSn que aparece en la p&gina 28.Siga el procedimiento de ajuste que aparece acontinuaci6n.

• Ajuste de la puerta al abrirla: disminuya el limite delrecorrido HACIA ARRIBA

-Ajuste el tornillo para ajustar el limite del recorridohacia arriba, d&ndole cinco y media vueltas hacia laizquierda (direcciSn opuesta alas manecillas delreloj).

- Oprima el bot6n de control de la puerta. El troledeber& ir hasta la posici6n completamente abierta.

-Abra la puerta manualmente de manera que esteparalela con el piso y suba el brazo de la puerta altrole. El brazo de la puerta deber& de tocar el trolejusto en la parte posterior del orificio conector,Consulte la ilustraci6n correspondiente al brazo de lapuerta y al trole en su posici6n completamenteabierta. Si el brazo no se extiende Io suficiente, ajusteel limite del recorrido de la puerta; cada revoluci6n deltornillo equivale a 5 cm (2 pulg.) del recorrido del trole.

3. Conecte el brazo de la puerta al trole

• Cierre la puerta y sujete el brazo curvo al orificioconector del trole con el t_ltimo pasador de chaveta. Esposible que necesite levantar un poco la puertamanualmente para poder hacer esta conexiSn.

• Asegure con un anillo sujetadec

• Opere el abridor durante un ciclo completo delrecorrido. Si la puerta parece estar en cierto &ngulo(hacia atr&s) cuando est& completamente abierta, asicomo se muestra en la siguiente ilustraciSn, disminuyael limite del recorrido hacia arriba hasta que la puertaquede paralela al piso.

NOTA: AI establecer el Ifmite hacia arriba como apareceen la p_gina siguiente, la puerta no debe tener unainclinaci6n "hacia atr_s" cuando est# totalmente abierta,como se ilustra abajo. Una ligera inclinaci6n hacia atr_socasionar_ que la puerta se pandee innecesariamente y/oque la operaciSn no sea uniforme al abrir o cerrar la puertadesde la posici6n totalmente abierta.

AJUSTES, PASO 1Ajuste el limite del recorrido HACIAARRIBA y HACIA ABAJO

AI ajustar el limite del recorrido de la puerta, se regulahasta que punto esta se detendr& al abrir y al cerrar.

Para porter en marcha el abridor, oprima el boton decontrol de la puerta. Haga funcionar el abridor durante unciclo competo del recorrido.

• _,La puerta se abre y se cierra completamente?

• _,La puerta se mantiene cerrada y no retrocedeindebidamente cuando est& completamente cerrada?

Si su puerta pasa estas dos pruebas, no necesitar& hacerm&s ajustes al limite del recorrido. Pero si no pasa laprueba de la reversa, tendr& que ajustar el limite delrecorrido. (Vea Ajustes, Paso 3 en la p&gina 30.)

El procedimiento de ajuste se explica a continuaci6n: Leael procedimiento con cuidado antes de continuar con elPaso 2 de la Secci6n de Ajustes. Use un desarmador parahacer los ajustes al limite del recorrido. Despu_s de Ilevara cabo un ajuste, haga funcionar el abridor durante unciclo complete de! recorrido.

NOTA: El abrir y cerrar /a puerta varias veces durante e/procedimiento de ajuste puede causer que el abridor sesobrecaliente y al sobrecalentarse se apagar4.$61o espere quince minutos y continde con los ajustesnecesarios.

NOTA: Si algo interfiere con el recorrido de la puerta en sutrayectoria hacia arriba, #sta se detendr4. Pero si algo laobstruye en su trayectoria hacia abajo (incluyendo unposible desnivel o desequilibro), esto activar_ la reversa yla puerta retroceder_.

C6MO Y CUANDO AJUSTAR LOS L|MITES

• Si la puerta no se abre completamente, pero abreper Io menos 1.50 m (5 pies):

Aumente el limite del recorrido hacia arriba De vuelta altornillo de ajuste del limite hacia arriba, gir&ndolo haciala derecha (en el sentido de las manecillas del reloj).Cada revoluci6n del tornillo equivale a 5 cm (2 pulg.) delrecorrido.

• Si le puerta no abre por Io menos 1.50 m (5 pies):

Ajuste la fuerza del movimiento hacia arriba de la puerta(abierta), como se indica en el Paso 2 de la secciSn deAjustes.

• Si le puerta no cierra completemente:

Aumente el limite del recorrido hacia abajo, de vuelta altornillo de ajuste del limite del recorrido hacia laizquierda, (direcci6n opuesta alas manecillas del reloj);cada revoluci6n del tornillo equivale a 5 cm (2 pulg.) delrecorrido.

Si at_n despues de este ajuste la puerta continL'_asincerrar completamente, alargue el brazo de la puerta(p&gina 26) y disminuya el limite del recorrido haciaabajo.

• Si la puerta retrocede cuando est_ en la posicidncompletamente cerrada:

Disminuya el limite del recorrido hacia abajo, de vueltaal tornillo de ajuste del limite del recorrido hacia laderecha (direcci6n de las manecillas del reloj); cadarevoluciSn del tornillo equivale a 5 cm (2 pulg.) delrecorrido.

Pruebe la puerta para verificar que no se doble ni sepandee. Jale la manija de Iiberaci6n de emergencia,y abra y cierre la puerta manualmente. Si la puerta sepandea, Ilame a un tecnico especializado en sistemasde puertas. Los tornillos para el ajuste de la fuerza del abridor seencuentran en el panel del lado derecho de la unidad delmotor. Estos ajustes controlar&n la fuerza que ser&necesaria para abrir y cerrar la puerta.

Si la fuerza es muy debil, es posible que la puerta hagaesos molestos retrocesos al cerrarla (movimiento haciaabajo) y que se detenga al abrirla (movimiento haciaarriba). El clima puede afectar el movimiento de la puerta,asi que es posible que tenga que hacer algunos ajustesocasionalmente.

El m_ximo para los tornillos de ajuste de la fuerza es3/4 de una vuelta, no trate de forzar el tornillo mds alldde este punto. Use un desarmador para hacer los ajustes

NOTA: Si a/go interfiere con e/recorrido de/a puerta en sutrayectoria hacia arriba, esta se detendr_. Pero si algo laobstruye en su trayectoria hacia abajo (incluyendo unposible desnivel o desequilibro), esto activar_ la reversa yla puerta retroceder_.

C6MO Y CUANDO AJUSTAR LA FUERZA DELABRIDOR

1. Pruebe la fuerza del recorrido HACIA ABAJO (cerrar)

• Cierre la puerta manualmente agarr&ndola por la parteinferior y detengala m&s o menos a la mitad delrecorrido HACIA ABAJO (cerrar); la puerta deber&retroceder. No aumente lafuerza m&s del mfnimo necesario para cerrar la puerta.

2. Pruebe la fuerza del recorrido HACIA ARRIBA (abrir):

• Abra completamente la puerta, coloque un pedazo demadera de 25 cm (1 pulg) (o un pedazo de madera de5x10 cm (2x4 pulg) acostado sobre el piso) acostadosobre el piso al centro de la puerta de la cochera

• Opere la puerta en la direcci6n hacia abajo La puertadeber_ entrar en reversa automaticamente al hacercontacto con la obstrucci6n

AJUSTE

• Si la puerta se detiene al toparse con la obstrucci6n, estosignifica que el recorrido hacia abajo (cerrar) no es elsuficiente Aumente el limite del recorrido HACIA ABAJO,

con el tornillo correspondiente, haciendolo girar 1/4 devuelta hacia la izquierda (direcci6n opuesta alasmanecillas del reloj)

• Repita la prueba

• Si la puerta retrocede autom&ticamente al hacer contactocon el pedazo de madera de 25 cm (1 pulg ), quite laobstrucci6n y abra y cierre la puerta completamente porIo menos cuatro o cinco veces para verificar que el ajustesea adecuado

9. Si se ajusta uno de los controles (limites de la fuerza o delrecorrido), es posible qua sea neeesarioajustar tarnbidn elotro control.

10. Despu_sde Ilevar a cabo cualquier ajuste, SE DEBEprobarel sistema de reversa de seguridad.

11. El sistema de reversa de seguridad SE DEBEprobar cadarues. La puerta DEBEretroceder al entrar en contacto con unobjeto de 2.5 crn (! pulg) de altura o bien un pedazodemaderade 5 x 10 cm (2x4) acostado en el piso.

12. SIEMPREmantenga la puerta de la cochera debidamenteequilibrada (vea la p_gina 3). Si la puerta no est_debidamente equilibrada podria no retroceder cuando asi serequiere, Io qua podria ocasionar una LESIONGRAVEoincluso la MUERTE.

13. Todas las reparaciones necesariasen los cables, resortesyotras plazas las DEBEIlevar a cabo un tdcnico especializadoensistemas de puertas, pues todas estas plazas estdn bajouna tensi6n EXTREMA.

14. SlEMPREdesconecteel suministro de energia eldctrica alabridor de la puerta de la cochera antes de Ilevar a cabocualquier reparaci6n o de quitar las cubiertas.

15.CONSERVEESTAS INSTRUCCIONES.

Cbmo usar su abridor de puerta decochera

Su abridor Security+ y el control remoto manual hart sidoprogramados en la f_brica con un c6digo coincidente quacambia cada vez qua se usa, accesando al azar m_s de100,000 millones de c6digos nuevos. Su abridor funcionar_con varios controles remotos Security÷, utilizando hasta 8funciones y un Sistema de entrada sin Ilave de Security÷.Si compra un control remoto nuevo, o si desea desactivaralgtTn control remoto, siga las instrucciones qua aparecenen la secci6n sobre C6mo programar el abridor.

Active su abridor de alguna de las siguientes maneras:

• El Control remoto manual: Mantenga oprimido el bot6ngrande hasta qua la puerta se empiece a mover.

• El Control de pared de la puerta: Mantenga oprimido elbot6n hasta qua la puerta se empiece a mover.

• La Entrada sin Ilave (vea Aecesorios): Si su abridor depuerta de cochera viene con este accesorio, deber_estar programado antes de usarlo. Vea C6mo programarel abridor.

Una vez activado el abridor (con el sensor de seguridadde reveraa correctamente instalado y alineado)1. Si la puerta est_ abierta se va a cerrar. Si ]a puerta est_

cerrada se va a abrir.

2. Si la puerta se est_ cerrando va a retroceder.

3. Si la puerta se est_ abriendo se va a detener.

4. Si la puerta se ha detenido en un punto parcialmenteabierta, se va a cerrar.

5. Sial cerrarse la puerta se top6 con alguna obstrucci6n,va a retroceder. Si la obstrucci6n interrumpe el rayo delsensor, las luces del abridor van a parpadear durantecinco segundos.

6. Sial abrirse la puerta se top6 con alguna obstrucci6n, seva a detenen

7. Si la puerta est_ completamente abierta, no va a cerrarsi el rayo est_ interrumpido. El sensor no tiene ningQnefecto en el ciclo de apertura.

Si el sensor no se ha instalado o est_ desalineado, lapuerta no va a cerrar con el control remoto manual. Sinembargo, la puerta se puede cerrar con el Control de lapuerta, el Interruptor de la Ilave externa, o la Entrada sinIlave, siempre y euando los active hasta qua el recorridohacia abajo haya terminado. Si suelta demasiado pronto, lapuerta va a retroceder.

I-as luces tel abridor se van a encender en los siguientescasos: siempre qua conecte el abridor inicialmente; cuandose restaura el suministro de energia despu6s de unainterrupci6n; cuando el abridor se activa.

Las luces se apagan autom_ticamente despu6s de cuatrominutos y medio, o se quedan encendidas cuando seactiva Luz en la Consola de control Premium.

La caracteristica de la luz del Security÷: Las luces sevan a encender tambi6n si alguien camina por la puerta dela cochera cuando est_ abierta, Si tiene la Consola decontrol Premium, esto puede desactivarse como sigue:Con las luces del abridor apagadas, oprima y mantengaoprimido el bot6n de la luz durante 10 segundos hasta quela luz se encienda y se apague de nuevo, Para volver aactivar esto, empiece el procedimiento con las lucesencendidas, luego oprima y mantenga oprimido el bot6n dela luz durante 10 segundos hasta que la luz se apague yluego se encienda de nuevo,

COMO DESCONECTARELTROLE:

La puerta debe estarcompletamente cerrada si esposible, Jale la manija deliberaci6n de emergencia (demanera que el brazo de liberaci6ndel trole quede en una posici6nvertical) y levante la puertamanualmente. La funci6n de Posici6n con el seguro

seguro evita que el trole se vuelva (Desconexibn manual)a conectar autom_ticamente, y lapuerta pueda subirse y bajarsemanualmente con la frecuencia

COMO RECONECTAREL TROLE:

Si tiene algun problema

1. El abridor no funciona con el control de la puerta ni con elcontrol remoto:

• _.Esta el abddor conectado a la electdcidad? Conecte una I_mparaa la toma de corriente. Si no se enciende, revise la caja de fusibleao el cortacirauito. (Algunas tomas de cordente se controlan con uninterruptor de pared).

• &Ha desactivado todas los seguros de las puertas? Revise lasadvertencias de laa instruccionea de instalaci6n que aparecen en lap_gina 11.

• &Hay nieve o hielo acumulado debajo de la puerta? La puertapuede congelarse y quedarse pegada al piso. Elimine estarestdccidn.

• El resorte de la puerta de cochera puede estar roto. Haga que Iocambien.

• ES posible que las repetidas operaciones hayan disparado elprotector de sobrecarga del motor. Espere 15 minutos y vuelva aintentar.

2. El abridor opera con el control remoto, pero no funciona con elcontrol de la puerta:

• _.Esta iluminado el control? Si no Io est& invierta los cables. Si elabddor funciona, revise que los alambres est6n bien conectados enel control de la puerta, vea si hay alg6n corto debajo de las grapas oalg6n alambre roto.

• _.Las conexiones del cableado son correctas? Revise el Paso 7 dela secci6n de Instalaci6n en la pagina 21.

3. La puerta funciona con el control de la puerta, pero no funcionacon el control remoto:

• _.Esta parpadeando el bot6n de la puerta? Si el modelo de suabridor tiene la funci6n de seguro (Lock), cerci6rese de que est6apagada.

• Programe el abridor para que coincida con el c6digo del controlremoto. (Consulte las instrucoiones que se encuentran en el paneldel motor). Repita esto con todos los controles remotos.

4. El control remoto tiene corto alcence:

• Cambie la ubicaci6n del control remoto en su coche.

• Revise y cerci6rese de que la antena que se encuentra a un lado oen el panel posterior de la unidad del motor se extienda hacia abajocompletamente.

• Algunas instalaciones pueden tenet menor alcaoce si las puertasson de metal, tienen aislamiento, o el recubrimiento extemo de lacochera es de metal. (Estuche de extensi6n de antena 41A3504).

5. El ruido que hace el abridor molesta en las habitaciones de lacasa:

• Si el ruido de la operaci6n del abridor es un problema porque lashabitaciones de la casa est6n muy cerca, se puede instalar unAislador de la vibraci6n 41A3263. Este accesorio est_ diseSadopara minimizar ]a vibraci6n en la casa yes facil de instalar.

6. La puerta de la cochera se abre y se cierra por si misma:

• Aseg0rese que todos los botones del control remoto est_n apagados.• Quite el alambre del timbre de las terminales del control de la

puerta y haga funcionar la puerta solamente con el control remoto.Si esto resuelve el problema, el control de la puerta tiene algunafalla (c_mbielo), o hay algQn corto intermitente en el alambre entreel control de ia puerta y la unidad del motor.

• Limpie la memoda y vuelva a programar todos los controles remotos.

7. La puerta no hable completamente:

• &Hay algo que est_ obstruyendo la puerta? 6Esta desequilibrada, olos resortes est_n rotos? Elimine la obstrucci6n o repare la puerta.

• Si la puerta eat_ en buenas condiciones pero no abre completamente,aumente la fuerza hacia ardba. Vea Ajustes. Paso 2.

• Si la puerta abre por Io menos cinco pies, es posible que se tenganque aumentar los limites del recorddo. Una vuelta equivale a 5 cm(2 pulg.) del recorrido. Vea Ajustes, Paso 1.

Repita la prueba de seguridad de reversa despu6s de tetminar el ajuste.

8. La puerta se detiene pero no cierra completamente:

• Revise los procedimientos de ajuste de los limites del recorddo queaparecen en la p_gina 28.

Repita la prueba de seguridad de reversa despu6s de realizarcualquier ajuste al largo del brazo de la puerta, a la fuerza o al limitehacia abajo.

9. La puerta se abre pero no se cierra:

• Si las luces del abddor parpadean, revise el sensor de seguridadde reversa. Vea la secci6n de Inslalaci6n, Paso 10.

• Si las luces del abddor no parpadean y se trata de una instalaci6nnueva, revise la fuerza hacia abajo. Vea la secci6n de Ajustes,Paso 2. Si se trata de una instalaci6n ya existente, vea acontinuaci6n.

Repita la prueba de seguridad de reveraa deapuea de terminarel ajuste.

10. La puerta retrocede sin raz6n aparente y las luces del abridorno parpadean :

• 6Hay algo que est6 obstruyendo la puerta? Jale la manija deliberaci6n de emergencia. Opere la puerta manualmente. Si est_desequilibrada o se pandea, [lame a un t_cnico especializado ensistemas de puertas.

• Limpie el piso de la cochera si tiene hielo o nieve en el puntodonde la puerta cierra.

• Revise Ajustes, Paso 2,

• Si la puerta retrocede a la posici6n completamente cerrada,disminuya los limites de recorddo (Ajustes. Paso 1).

Repita la prueba de seguridad de reversa deapues de hacer losajustes a la fuerza o a los limites del recorrido. La necesidad de unajuste ocasional de la fuerza y del Iimite es normal, Las condicionesclimalol6gicas en particular pueden afectar el recorrido de la puerta.

11. La puerta retrocede sin raz6n aparente y las lutes del abridorparpadean pot cinco segundos despu_s de que retrocede:

• Revise el sensor de reversa de seguridad. Quite cualquierobstrocci6n o alinee el ojo receptor. Vea la secciSn de Instalaci6n,Paso 9.

12. Las luces del abridor no se encienden:

• Cambie los focos (de 100 vatios m_ximo). Use un foco est_ndarpara puerta de cochera, si el foco ae funde.

13. Las luces del abridor no se apagan:

• 6Esta activada la funci6n de ]uz? Si es asi, apaguela.

14. El abridor necesita la m_xima fuerza para operar la puerta:

• La puerta podria estar desequilibrada, o los resortes podrianestar rotos. Cierre la puerta y use la manija de liberaci6n deemergencia para desconectar el trole. Abra y cierre la puertamanualmente. Si la puerta est_ bien equilibrada se sostiene encualquier punto del recorrido con s61o el soporte de sus resortes. Siesto no ocurre, desconecte el abridor y llama a un t_cnicoespecializado en sistemas de puertas. No aumenta la fuerzapara operar el abridor.

15. El motor hace on ruido brevemente pero luego no funciona

• Los resortes de la puerta de cochera podrian estar rotes.Vea los p_rrafos antedores.

• Si el problema se presenta la pdmera vez que opera el abridor,puede set que la puerta est6 con seguro. Quite el seguro de lapuerta.

Repita la prueba de seguridad de reveraa despuea de terminarel ajusle

16. El abridor no funciona debido a una falla en el suministrode energia

• Use la manija de liberaci6n de emergencia para desconectar eltrole. La puerta se puede abdr y cerrar manualmente. Cuando serestaure el suministro de energia, opdma el bot6n de control de lapuerta y el trole se vuelve a conectar automaticamente (a menosque est6 con seguro). Yea la pagina 32.

• El accesodo Llave de liberaci6n de emergeocia (que se usasolamente en las cocheras que no tienen una puerta de servicio)desconecta el trole desde afuera de la cochera en caso de unafalla en el suminiatro de energia.

COMO PROGRAMAR EL ABRIDOR

Su abridor de puerta de cochera ya viene programado de f_brica para operar con su control remoto manual, La puerta seabrir_ y se cerrar_ cuando oprima el bot6n grande.

A continuaci6n aparecen las instrucciones para programar su abridor para que opere con controles remotosSecurity÷ adicionales,

Cbmo agregar un control remoto manual adicional

C6MO USAR EL BOT6N "APRENDER" (LEARN) COMO USAR LA CONSOLA DE CONTROL PREMIUM

1. Oprima y suelte el bot6n "Aprender"de la unidad del motor. La luzindicadora de este bot6n estar_

encendida por 30 segundos.

1. Oprima y mantenga orimido elbot6n del control remoto manual*

que desee usar para la puerta desu cochera.

2. En 30 segundos, oprima ymantenga oprimido el bot6n delcontrol remoto manual* que deseeusar para su puerta de cochera.

3. Suelte el bot6n cuando las luces de

]a unidad del motor empiecen aparpadear. Ya aprendi6 el c6digo.Si no se han puesto focos, seescuchar_n dos chasquidos.

2. Mientras mantiene oprimido elbot6n del control remoto, oprima ymantenga oprimido el bot6n LUZ(LIGHT) de la Consola de ControlPremium.

3. Contin(Je oprimiendo los dosbotones mientras oprime tambi6n labarra de la Consola de Control

Premium (con los tres botchesoprimidos).

4. Suelte los botches cuando las luces

de la unidad del motor empiecen aparpadear. Ya aprendi6 el c6digo.Si no se ban puesto focos, seescuchar_n dos chasquidos.

Para borrar todos los cbdigos de lamemoria de la unidad del motor

Para desactivar cualquier control remotoque no desee usar, antes que nadaborre todos los c6digos:

Oprima y mantenga oprimido el bot6n"Aprende¢' de la unidad del motor, hastaque la luz del indicador de "Aprende¢' se apague(aproximadamente 6 segundos). Ya estar_n borrados todoslos c6digos anteriores. Vuelva a programar cada uno delos controles remotos o la entrada sin nave que desee usar.

Si su abridor de puerta de cochera tiene un bot6n grande,su operad6n ha sido programada en la f_brica. Los botonesadicionales de cualquiercontrol remoto de funcionesm_ltiples Security÷, o de unmini control remoto puedenprogramarse para operarotros abridores de puerta decochera Security÷.

Para poner o cambiar el PIN de la Entrada sin Ilaves

NOTA: Su nueva Entrada sin Ilave debe programarse para que opere el abridor de la puerta de su cochera.

Para cambiar un PIN existente

Si el PIN existente ya es conocido, una persona Io puedecambiar sin usar una escalera.

1. Oprima los cuatro botches que correspondan al PINactual, luego oprima y mantenga oprimido el bot6n #.

La luz del abridor parpadear_ dos veces. Suelte elbot6n #.

2. Oprima el nuevo PIN de cuatro digitos y luego oprimaEnter.

Las luces de la unidad del motor van a parpadear una vezcuando el PIN se haya aprendido.

Pruebe oprimiendo el nuevo PiN, luego oprima Enter.La puerta debe moverse.

Para poner un PIN temporal

Usted puede autorizar el acceso a sus visitas o a personalde servicio con un PIN temporal de cuatro digitos.Despu6s de un determinado nt_mero de horasprogramadas, o nDmero de accesos, este PiN temporalexpira y no vuelve a abrir la puerta. Se puede usar paracerrar la puerta at]n despu6s de que haya expirado. HagaIo siguiente para poner un PIN temporal:

1. Oprima los cuatro botches correspondientes a su PINde entrada personal (no el Dltimo PiN temporal); luegooprima y mantenga oprimido el bot6n 8.

La luz del abridor va a parpadear tres veces. Suelte elbot6n.
