This message of incarnation is one of God here and now working his will in this physical realm. This leads us to ask other questions about our mission at Our Lady of the Rosary. As we enter a time of consultation next month I have some other questions for us to ponder and pray about. Our parish is situated in the most economically deprived area of Greenville. Around our church campus are two forms of poverty: residential and transient. Those who live permanently in the housing in our area and in the hotels experience unemployment, poverty, and poor levels of health care and housing. Mother Teresa House and the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry are clear markers of our concern and involvement in our community, but what else should we be doing? Should we be working with community partners and other churches to assist with housing needs? Should we be reaching out to the elderly and housebound? Should we be making more links for better healthcare? Should we be assisting impoverished elderly people more? What about our pro life involvement? Already Our Lady of the Rosary is known as “the pro life parish”. Could we do more to educate our young people, care for women in crisis pregnancies, support families who adopt, and promote life in all its fullness? Finally, what role in evangelization and outreach should the new Shrine to the Divine Mercy play in our future? We are located right on I-85. Should we have billboards on the highway welcoming visitors to the shrine? Should we have retreats and seminars promoting the Divine Mercy Devotion and the Rosary? Should be use advertising, social media, and printed literature to reach out to more people with the message of the Rosary and Divine Mercy? These are questions we need to think about as we enter the next phase of our parish consultation in January. I hope you will use this time during Advent to think and pray about these matters so we can move forward prayerfully and carefully to do the Lord’s work in this place with a clear plan and conscious involvement. which he will need to regulate his

body temperature once he is born, are

filling out. If you have been nervous

about going into preterm labor, you

age can survive outside the womb, and most have no

major long-term problems related to prematurity.

Religious Education classes (K5-8th grades) will not meet Sunday, December 18th. Classes will resume January 8, 2017.

Important Parish Dates! The next SVdP meeting will

The St. Vincent de Paul Society of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish

has begun a new ministry group called The Arimatheans. Members

will attend funeral Masses at OLR when there are no family or

friends of the deceased in the area. This group will be serving to

fulfill the Corporal Work of Mercy to bury the dead. All are

invited to join this ministry and will be notified of funerals at OLR

as they arise. Please contact Marianne Stoddard through the Parish

office if you would like to join this group.

A special book of 30 professional photographs of the new church is available to order. Price is $50.00 per book. Proceeds from the sale will go to the Building Fund. Sign up with your name and phone number after Mass in the Narthex.

On this last Sunday of

Advent, we quietly reflect on the

mystery. We rest in awe, in

wonder, at how our God entered

our world and came to be with

us. We pause to receive the gift

offered us: that the Spirit of

God will open up our lives

and that Jesus will really come

into our hearts.

May we have watchful hope

today, believing what the Lord

promises us. Let us pray today,

that we might be God's

servants, that we might be

instruments of God's love for

our families and all we serve this

week.

For the hard of hearing, Our Lady of the Rosary Church offers a loop system. Hearing aid wearers with a “T” (telecoil) setting can now hear the service broadcast directly through their hearing aids. Soon we will have the ability for worshipers to check out a portable receiver and headset. For more information about loop systems,

including home TV room applications, visit www.hearingloop.org.

A note for families with young children. As we continue to learn about the acoustics in our new church we respectfully ask families with young children to make use of our spacious narthex and quiet room for all crying children. Speakers are in both areas to allow families to continue to participate in the Mass.

A HUGE THANK YOU to all who donated to the

SVdP coat drive. As usual,

our expectations were

exceeded by far. Your

generosity will make many

area children happy and

warm this Christmas.

The church office will be closed December 23rd

and will reopen January 2nd.

Merry Christmas!!
