Motto Seek the TruthI am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the father except through me. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.

John 14: 6-8

OAGS Strategic Plan, 2015-17

TruthWe believe in the foundational and essential nature of the Gospel truth. This truth informs all others and is absolute. This truth is simple, knowable, accessible and counter-cultural. We can find freedom in this truth and use it to locate the context for our learning, and to build community, relationships and trust.

If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.

John 8: 32

LoveWe believe in expressing the love of God through our devotion to one another, our choices to give and be committed, our sacrificial actions in service of others, our disposition for humility, and our willingness to learn.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

1 Corinthians 13: 4-8

RespectWe believe in respect as an essential part of relationships and love. Respect is offered, given and received by acknowledging the inherent value of all, encouraging truth and openness, and enabling leadership and followership. Respect is both taught and modelled through manners and humility, and provides a boundary for the development of discipline and character.

Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.

HopeWe believe in hope that is based on the certainty of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the acknowledgement of the past and a focus on a shared purpose. This hope gives us a real choice to respond to our challenges and opportunities, confident that we are known, loved and appreciated.

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord, Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

Romans 5: 1-5

ImaginationWe believe in enhancing and employing an imagination that excites and liberates us. This imagination is experienced and taught inherently, empowering us to experiment with creativity and embrace possibility.

When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honour. You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his hands, all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field, the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas.

Psalm 8: 3-8
