Dear parents and members of our school community
Welcome to the end of week 4 The HSC is all but over with only two exams left
for our students on Monday Physics and Design and Technology are the last two
exams scheduled for the 2019 HSC We are so proud of our students and the
effort they have put into their exams over the past month With the HSC over for
another year our Year 12 students and their families will now turn their focus to
the last formal event of their high school journey the Year 12 Graduation which
will be held at the Orange Function Centre on Friday 29th November
Sustainable Living Expo Last Sunday students and staff from Orange High School were involved in the
Sustainable Living Expo
OHS students were involved in a QampA session with special guest Craig Reucassal
from the ABC series War on Waste Students were asking a variety of questions
on sustainability and waste solutions The students also participated in a waste
audit later in the day Thankyou to our students for your attendance and to the
staff who gave up their weekend to make this event a success
NAIDOC Week Celebrations Congratulations to the 2019 NAIDOC organising committee for a hugely successful NAIDOC week Our school had the absolute privilege of participating in the NAIDOC March the NAIROC music competition and a range of local activities throughout the week It was a fantastic week enjoyed by many of our students and staff Premiers Debating Challenge On Monday 28th October our Year 10 debating team defeated Sydney Boys High
School in the State Semi Final of the Premiers Debating Challenge
They are now one of the top 2 teams in the state and will be competing in the
State Final on Monday 11th November against Armidale High School in
Parramatta Congratulations to Angela Weckert Abigail Kittler Ethan Delaney and
Cheyenne Sciascia
This is an amazing achievement and we are very proud of you all
Year 7 Transition Program Last week saw the second half of our Year 7 2020 cohort participate in their two day transition to high school All of the feedback was very positive and our newest students thoroughly enjoyed themselves and are looking forward to high school next year If you have any questions regarding your childrsquos transition to Orange High School in 2020 please do not hesitate to contact us

Cooking Challenge at TAFE on 1st November
OHS competed against Orange Anglican Grammar and Kinross Wolaroi schools This is the 2nd year OHS
has won the perpetual trophy The trophy was presented by Orange City Councillor Joanne McRae
Thank you to Beau Baddock from Agrestic Grocer and chef Michael Apps from TAFE for judging the
competition
The fresh nutritious produce was supplied by Agrestic Grocer
Prefect Leadership Day On Tuesday this week our prefects attended a leadership day hosted by Denison College of Secondary Education The day focussed on developing the leadership skills of our prefect body Feedback was extremely positive and we are continued to focus on giving our students a strong voice in the way we do things at Orange High School SRC and Sports Council Induction Next Wednesday 13th November we will be holding our SRC and Sports Council Induction ceremony beginning at 5pm in the Performing Arts Centre This is an opportunity for our 2020 students leaders to be presented with their badges and undertake their commitment to being the voice of our student body The afternoon begins promptly at 5pm and will conclude by 615pm PampC Meeting Also on Wednesday 13th November the PampC will hold their monthly PampC meeting in the Music Centre beginning at 630pm An open invitation is extended to all parents and community members to attend I hope you have a wonderful fortnight and I look forward to speaking with you again in week 6 With my warmest regards Chad Bliss Principal

HUGE congratulations to Blake Weymouth who has been selected in the NSW CHS Cricket 1st team to play at the All Schools carnival next
year Blake pictured with the CHS coach was also named Western MVP for
the tournament Well done

Orange High School Girls Softball Team continued in the Western Area competition on Wednesday 6th November beating Mudgee and Parkes High School however the girls went down to Canobolas High who
were the better team on the day
OHS ended the season solidly with five of our students making it in to the Western Area Regional Team who will compete in Sydney in 2020
Huge congratulations to Ally Cook Keely Ford Ineke Keed Jessica Neville and Brooke Parish
Great effort and sportsmanship from all of our players and a special thank you to our umpires Liam Leahy Hamish Casey and Caden Keed
