Sterling Construction Breaks Ground in North Dakota
Operation Christmas Child
It’s that time of year again! The annual Operation Christmas Child drive for shoe boxes has begun in southwest North Dakota. Each year, Operation Christmas Child delivers millions of gift-filled shoe boxes around the world to boys and girls who are suffering because of war, natural disaster, poverty, illness, or neglect. For most of these children, it will be the only gift that they will receive.
St. John Lutheran Church in Dickinson will be a shoe box drop-off site for this region. Preprinted colorful Christmas shoe boxes and brochures with information on how to pack a shoe box may be picked up at the church. Gift ideas for the boxes include: small toys such as cars, balls, dolls, stuffed animals; school supplies such as crayons, markers, pens and pencils; hygiene items such as toothbrush, toothpaste, combs, washcloths; and other miscellaneous items such as hard candy, gum, socks, etc. Please use only new items. The national collection week will be Sunday, November 11 – Sunday, November 18. Office hours at the church are: Monday – Friday: 9am – 4pm and the address is 146 6th Avenue West. We welcome filled shoe boxes from businesses, civic groups, community clubs, churches, families, schools and other organi-zations. SW North Dakota packed over 1,000 shoe boxes last year and we are hoping to pack over 1,200 boxes this year! Monetary donations are also accepted to assist with the shipping costs. For more information, contact Jodeen Myers at either 225-3406 or at 225-6747 or call toll free 1-800-353-5949 or visit www.samaritanspurse.org. Thank you!

Page 11 Leadership Dickinson
By Kelsey Hibl and Austin Boepple We started out our day by introducing our ideas about agriculture and discussing questions that we had about it. Our first tour was of Deans Meat Market. We were showed there meat lockers and how meat is prepared and sold to customers. Next was the Hoff dairy farm, where we got to see how a robotic milking machine works up close, and the farmers likes and dislikes of the robot. Then was off to Southwest Grain where we saw how all the grain is kept and how it is transported and loaded into train cars to take the grain to all parts of the United States. Lastly was back to Dickinson's Stockmen's Livestock where we learned about the sales of cattle and auctioneering.
