History of NOGA•Private entrepreneur started storing Oranges with cold storage facility in 1946 under the name “CHOCS” “CHOCS” i.e. Central Hindustan Orange and Cold Storage at Nagpur.

•It was taken over by a co-operative in 1960 with the name “ “ NOGA” NOGA” i.e. Nagpur Orange Growers Association.

•Govt. of Maharshtra took over NOGA after it went into liquidation and handed over to MAIDCMAIDC i.e. The Maharashtra Agro-Industries Development Corporation Ltd. in 1972 for running its operations at the main plant at Motibag, Nagpur.

MAIDCThe Maharashtra Agro-Industries Development Corporation Ltd. (100% Govt. owned company with share participation by Govt. of India and Govt. of Maharashtra) was setup in 1965 to provide following agro inputs to the farmers :• FERTILIZERS - BOTH STRAIGHT & MIXED GRANULATED FERTILIZERS• PESTICIDES- INCECTICIDES, FUNGICIDES AND PESTICIDES• ANIMAL FEED- CATTLE AND POULTRY FEED• AGRO ENGINEERING- IMPLEMENTS, MACHINARY AND ROTAVETOR

Besides, MAIDC also acts as a NODAL AGENCY of Ministry of Food Processing Industries (Govt. of India) for certain projects of State Govt. of Maharashtra.

Processing Plants of NOGA

• Earlier unit of NOGA was operating at Motibag in Nagpur with a common processing facility of canned and bottled products.

• In order to meet increased market demand second unit for bottled products was setup at Hingna in 1992.

• A small unit of bottled products was also created at Goregoan, Mumbai to take care of orders from Canteen Stores Department and Domestic Market.

• Recently Motibag and Hingna facilities have been integrated at one place for administrative convenience and financial advantages.
