    Ranked 5th in terms of production consumption export and expected growth.

    There are 25, 367 registered food processing units in the country

    Total invested capital is Rs 84,094 crore, (as per a competitiveness report ofthe National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council.

    Food processing industry is divided into several segments. They are: Fruits & vegetables

    Meat & poultry Dairy

    Marine products, grains and consumer foods (that includes packaged food, beverages andpackaged drinking water)

    Kerala has always been a 'leader State' in Food Processing sector

    Kerala is a major producer/processor of Spices, Marine Products, Cashews,

    Coconuts, Cocoa, Coffee and Tea, Fruits like banana and pineapple.

    Kerala is traditionally strong in cashews, sea foods and spices.

    Processed Food Market is currently estimated to be of Rs.305 crore

    The potential of Processed Food Industry is estimated at Rs 30,000 crore.

    There are almost 257 registered food processing industry in Kerala.
