PROJECT PHASE-IBackground of Project• The conventional methods of Power plant may be

uneconomical if applied to power plant due to high cost, so integrated Automations and control has become the solution for making it efficient and cost effective.

• Normally, we implement an automation system to improve the system efficiency, plant monitoring, productivity and the operating Management of the system.

• The cost of operation has to be kept low in power plant. Hence the system must be designed to operate with minimum manpower. Automatic/ semi-automatic control may save operational cost and operational time. The system should be reliable and low maintenance required.

• Power plant control systems combine innovative technology and broad functionality with established operational reliability.

• Enhancement of power plant control systems is ongoing with the aim of further improving functionality and quality.

• Depending on the control action, speed and accuracy of system response, the error signal can be amplified using PID controller to get desired control action.

OBJECTIVE OF PROJECT:• To replace manually operated valves with

electromagnetic valves and sensors.

• To interface automatic valves and sensors with PID controller.

• To test the entire setup for its efficiency and working.

• To develop method to utilize the plant output for charging I.C. engine battery.

SCOPE OF PROJECT• To install electromagnetic valves like ball valve, globe

valve and sensors like level sensor, inductive sensor, pressure transmitter and thermocouple such that it can be operated manually as well as automatically.

• To install gear pump for pumping Diesel in to Diesel tank.

• Interfacing automatic valves and sensors with PID controller and perform real-time testing and monitoring.

• To utilize 2KW of power out of the total 3KW produced, to charge I.C. engine battery rather than diverting it to the rheostat.
