Anger Free School

Art has a role in the education of helping children become like themselves instead of more like everyone else.

Children are naturally creative. It is our job to give them the freedom, materials and space to let their creativity

blossom to its full potential. Through, art children will learn to trust their ideas, themselves and explore what is

possible. To discover the undiscovered talents and let children, trust their ideas the school organized an “Art and

Craft” competition for all our lovely children. The art presentation was based on the states of “Uttarakhand and

Karnataka”.

The children of Grade 1 presented artefacts/crafts which were truly mesmerizing. Children got the opportunity to

create artwork on their own and express themselves in a positive and meaningful way. Through this competition,

children learnt to value and appreciate artefacts and images across cultures and times.

The children of Grade 2 presented jewellery worn in these states which were truly eye-catching. Children got the opportunity to

showcase their talent and designing skills. Through, this competition children learnt the art of creating something

beautiful and useful, keeping symmetry, patterns and shapes in mind.

Our inhouse judges Ms Bhargavi and Ms Sharmistha Roy for the event were impressed by the art created by

our tiny tots. Every student who participated put up a great display of art which was truly fascinating. The

judges had a tough time deciding on the winner. Opportunities like these help children learn to explore the

extent of their imagination, achieve greater levels of creativity and refinement.

CCA Dress up and speak competition – Grades 3, 4 & 5

In complete agreement with Dr. Maria Montessori, we the upper primary wing of WGS planned an integrated CCA

activity – Dress up and Speak on 28 January 2021 for grade 3. Grade 3 - Air, Earth, Fire and Sky sections dressed

up and spoke about the food and costumes of Uttarakhand whereas Light, Water, Dew, Rainbow sections dressed

up and spoke about the food and costumes of Karnataka. Learning through performance has surely made them

connect and understand about the states very well. It was a great show as all participants tried their level best to

leave a lasting impression on the audience. They left no stone unturned in giving their best on the virtual platform.

Students were judged on different rubrics that included Content, Expression/ acting, costume, etc. The enthralling

performance of the participants gave a tough time to our judges to decide the winners. For us, all the children are

winners and their presentation, for sure, won everybody’s hearts.

We Learnt…

Project Based Learning: Grades 4 & 5

Project-Based Learning is a student-centered pedagogy that involves a dynamic classroom approach in which it is

proven that students acquire deeper knowledge through active exploration of real-world challenges and problems.

Students learn about a subject by working for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to a complex

question, challenge, or problem. It is a style of active and inquiry-based learning.

Project Based Learning Culmination: Grades 4 & 5

Project-Based Learning is a student-centered pedagogy that involves a dynamic classroom approach in which it is

proven that students acquire deeper knowledge through active exploration of real-world challenges and problems.

At Whitefield Global School, under the guidance of our beloved Head of the Institution Dr. Sarada Chandrasekaran,

HM Ms. Nina Mukhopadhaya, Upper Primary Coordinator Ms. Asha Kiran, Primary HOD Ms. Garima Kudeshiya

and supportive teachers, the Upper Primary students of Grade 4 and 5 participated in the Project Based Learning

activities on the Sustainable Development Goal 15 “Life on Land”. They learnt how forests, farm lands and animals

play a huge part in the daily lives of humans. They were introduced to the topic with videos, activities and

discussions. Farms and animals are a source of food and livelihood. Animals are an essential part of all ecosystems.

Children learnt that without action, we could lose these crucial resources to deforestation and land degradation. A

global shift needs to occur and it will take every one to be informed to make smarter choices that don’t harm our

planet. They learnt that youth have to be better informed to turn the tide, for this they did a comparative study with

other partner countries too, and by collaborating with Israel.

A flourishing life on land is the foundation for our life on this planet. We are all part of the planet’s

ecosystem and we have caused severe damage to it through deforestation, loss of natural habitats and land

degradation. Promoting a sustainable use of our ecosystems and preserving biodiversity is not a cause. It

is the key to our own survival.

International Mother Language Day Virtual Assembly – Grades 1 & 2

We partook in…

International Mother Language Day is a moment for all of us to raise the flag for the importance of mother tongue

to all educational efforts, to enhance the quality of learning, and to reach the unreached. With this beautiful thought,

International Mother Language Day was celebrated in WGS on February 10th2021, in the virtual mode. Kevin of

2nd Fire welcomed the gathering with a beautiful smile and positive attitude. The assembly started with the school

prayer, rendered beautifully by the choir. The prayer was followed by a beautiful thought which was shared by

Anshi Sahoo of Grade 1st Dew. Ryan Chandy of 2nd Rainbow enhanced our vocabulary by adding a new word to

our WGS dictionary. Aashna Dash from 2nd Water and Anagha Murthy from 2nd Sky updated us with National

news and WGS news. Anjali V from 1st Air spoke about the reason for celebrating and respecting Mother Language.

Dhruv from 2nd Earth added more color to the assembly by speaking about “Vasant Panchami” or Saraswati

pooja. Payal and Krish from 2nd Air and Anya Saxena from 2nd Earth spoke about the significance of

celebrating Vasant Panchami in different languages. They spoke in Kannada, Sanskrit, and Hindi respectively.

Respect is the basic virtue that drives so many choices, both attitudes and actions. At Whitefield Global School,

students of Emerald House of the Upper Primary Segment presented an assembly to emphasize the importance of

our Assembly theme, ‘Respect.’ The hosts were Kenisha and Kajal. A new day begins with a new thought, new

strength and endless possibilities. So, to enlighten us Gauranshi shared the thought for the day where as Anveeka

added a new word to our WGS dictionary. A beautiful poem was recited by Krithika. Book is a window to the

world. Giving books away to those who read is like giving them the world. It makes their world happier and

healthier. To celebrate the ‘International Book Giving Day,’ students gave their favorite books to their friends to

read.

CCA Ikebana, Folk Fusion Dance, Role play competition – Grades 3, 4 & 5

We at Whitefield Global School truly believe in this and enforce it through the CCA activities. The month of

February witnessed multiple activities across Grades 3, 4, and 5. Grade 3 participated and presented their

creativity in the Ikebana Competition. Ikebana is a Japanese art of arranging flowers, branches, leaves, and stems

to bring out the inner qualities of flowers and express emotion. Each presentation portrayed a different quality of

the art. Grade 4 showcased their dancing skills through the Folk Fusion Dance competition representing states of

Karnataka and Uttarakhand. They left no stone unturned. Be it the costume, expression of confidence. They looked

like professionals.

Grade 5 confidently imitated the Great Leaders from Karnataka and Uttarakhand through the Role Play

competition. Every child made the judges feel that it’s the leader who is speaking and not the participant. The

students from all three grades left the judges and teachers awestruck by their immaculate performances. Every

performance looked better than the other. Whoever the winner may be, the budding artists of WGS won every

heart with their art, which makes everyone a winner.
