Student Spotlight

“I love EOPS for many reasons. I enjoy the

perks that comes with joining EOPS. I like pri-

ority registration, book vouchers, workshops,

field trips, special lunch and/or dinner events,

counseling, etc. However, what I truly love and

appreciate about EOPS are the things they

don't mention on the "What EOPS offer its

students" list. I love how EOPS has helped me

create great friendships. I love how their staff

isn't just a staff. I feel like they're not even a

program, but my second family in school.

They say hi to me using my name. I'm not just

a number or random student to them. They

remind and invite me to upcoming, important

events. They encourage me to sign up for

scholarships and to ask questions if I have any.

They're always here for me not just regarding

school, but my life outside of school too. You

can see their countless efforts in contributing

to your success. When I graduate and transfer,

I know I'm going to miss my EOPS family.”

“I enjoyed all the EOPS field trips that

I've attended. It was very informative

especially the student panels. You are

reminded of important dates, and they

teach you how to apply for certain

things. I've met some of my friends on

a few of the EOPS fields. I've also cre-

ated unforgettable memories on these

field trips like the end of the semester

Muir Woods field trip was awesome. I

hiked with several other students to

Muir beach. It was a 6 mile hike back

and forth. That hike made me realize

that hikes are just like life. The jour-

ney is not going to be easy, but it will

be worth it in the end. The destination

is breathtaking, but it is the journey

that creates character and unforgetta-

ble memories.”
