ROOM 28 ADELAIDE ZOO EXCURSION

As part of our IELC theme

for Term 2, the students

have been learning about

Australian animals. All IELC

classes have been

developing their

knowledge about living

things, which coincides with

writing information reports

as part of this term’s writing

genre. For some students,

this was the first time visiting

the zoo. They loved seeing

all the wonderful animals

and their excitement was

evident throughout the

day. Here are some of the

things our students said

about the visit to the zoo.

“I like the Giraffe and

Hippo” – Gazal.

“We loved the lion because

It was big and the king of

the zoo. We heard him roar

loudly” – Mahdi, Zahra,

Shayan and Japja.

“I like to watch the panda

eating bamboo” – Micah.

“I like seeing the panda,

snakes and spiders” – Polina

“I liked the reptiles, snakes,

frogs and hippos because I

have never seen them.” –

Niranju

ADELAIDE ZOO We would like to thank all the teachers and helpers

whose patience and care made the day such a

success. The students had a blast!

3, 2, 1…PANDA!!!

We saw the zoo keeper feeding

the sea lions. Look at the Giraffes!

News from Room 18 This term the Year 4/5s and I have had the

pleasure of having Mr S, a third year University

student teacher, in our class. He has

developed positive relationships with students

around the school and made invaluable

contributions to learning. Good luck with your

future endeavours Mr S, you will be missed!

Mel Smith and the 4/5s in Room 18.

From Mr S

Room 18’s Student Teacher

Throughout life one aspect is always constant,

and that is learning. As a third year University

student learning to become an educator, I

was blessed to be placed at Ingle Farm

Primary School under the watchful eye of Mel

Smith and the Year 4/5s of Room 18. The staff,

students, parents and wider community of

Ingle Farm Primary School have been helpful

and friendly in assisting me to further develop

my skills and attributes in my journey to

become a teacher. Over the past few weeks

Room 18 students have shown persistence

and dedication for their learning. The

students have been developing their

persuasive text and expressive reading skills in

English, their mapping skills in Mathematics,

and creating a script on the beloved movie

“Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” in

the Arts. Every day the students of Room 18

show not only academic growth but also

personal growth, and it is a great experience

to be part of this. In my time at Ingle Farm

Primary School, even though it has been short,

I have enjoyed every minute of it and I can’t

convey my appreciation to Ms Smith, the

students, staff and families on providing

guidance to myself and I wish them all the

best for the future.
