Using hands-on theatre techniques, they teach academic subjects, enhance lesson plans, and enrich the classroom experience in such areas as understanding Shakespeare and the Brown vs. Board of Education case.

high schOOl appRenticeships35+ students participate in hands-on apprenticeships working side by side with theatre professionals.Charleston Stage’s TheatreWings High School Apprentice Program is an intensive, pre-professional, technical theatre training program FREE for more than 35 high school students a year. Apprentices learn directly from professionals about acting, set design and construction, props, costumes, stage management, lighting, sound, and special effects. TheatreWings Apprentices develop strong organizational and time management skills while building relationships with fellow students from public and private schools in the tri-county area. Graduates of Charleston Stage’s TheatreWings High School Apprentice Program have gone on to appear on Broadway and television.

acting classes200+ students attend acting classes after school.Charleston Stage’s Theatre School offers classes year round for students from kindergarten through high school at Charleston Stage’s Mount Pleasant Studio. Acting classes for students of all ages and abilities are taught by members of Charleston Stage’s Professional Resident Acting Company. Classes range from beginning classes, performance workshops, and performance troupes. Classes culminate in mini-performances held on Charleston Stage’s Studio Stage at our Mt. Pleasant Studios. Tuition scholarships are available for need-based students.
