Playing the old gardener, Ben in The Secret Garden and now old Grandpa Joe in Willy Wonka, is telling Rich something – he’s old. Caroline Paulson (Oompa-Loompa) Caroline is eaight years old and loves to be on stage! She has performed in Theatre on Main’s The Wizard of Oz and WCT’s Candy Cane Tales and Holiday Carols. Caroline lives in Hartland with her parents and older brother and loves singing, playing the piano, and writing plays and short stories.

Kenneth Penzkover (Mr. Turkentine/Trout’s Camera Crew) Kenneth is delighted to perform here again with his friends, old and new! He most recently appeared in WCT’s Twelfth Night. He sincerely thanks his family, friends, and mentors for inspiring him to pursue theatre. He will be attending UW-Whitewater, majoring in theatre education!

Alyssa Proell (Oompa-Loompa) Alyssa is a fourth grader at Swallow School in Hartland. She has performed in Candy Cane Tales and Holiday Carols at WCT for

the past two years and in Cinderella at Theatre on Main, and she is really looking forward to being an Oompa Loompa in Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka.

Aaron Schmidt (Lighting Designer/Sound Designer) Aaron is excited to be part of such a fun production. Aaron’s credits include lighting and sound design for several local theaters and high schools, including Sunset Playhouse’s The Drowsy Chaperone, WCT’s Crimes of the Heart, and Brookfi eld Central’s West Side Story. Aaron is also a member of the Four Guyz in Dinner Jackets.

with tackling this huge show, she also directed her fi rst children’s show in June. She is a Pius XI graduate, and very happy to be home in Milwaukee for the summer.

Jim Volden (Grandpa George) Jim is pleased to be in his eleventh show at WCT. His favorite roles are Uncle Henry in The Wizard of Oz, and General MacKenzie in And Then There Were None. Thanks to wife Debbie for her love and support.

Dave Vrba (Mr. Slugworth) Dave is a computer engineer graduate of M.S.O.E. and relatively new to theater and thankful to his wife Tammy for the introduction. This is Dave’s second exercise in community theatre, after playing Winter Warlock in Candy Cane Tales and Holiday Carols.

Tammy Vrba (Mrs. Gloop) Tammy is delighted to be in yet another WCT production! She feels she may be typecast this time, however, as she recently played Verruckt Rose (verruckt means crazy in German) in the Waukesha

“Live Clue” event for the past two years. Well that, and she loves chocolate almost as much as her little schnausage vausage, Augustus. This will be Tammy’s second show performing with her husband Dave. She was hoping the bug would bite him eventually! “This is going to be one tasty show...enjoy!”

Jayden Welch (Wilbur Winkleman/Squirrel) Jayden is ecstatic to be making his WCT debut in Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka! Jayden is a fi fth grader at Heyer Elementary School. When not singing or teaching himself guitar, Jayden enjoys being outside and spending time with his grandfather, Bill. Jayden would like to thank his family, friends, and teachers for their support.

Willy Wonka (Paul Burkard) “Strike that. Reverse it!” Paul is thrilled to be playing the quirky man in purple. “Meine Damen und Herren, WCT’s Willy Wonka!!”

M AD CORNER

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this story. The original book by Roald Dahl is magical. The 1971 movie with Gene Wilder is one of my all-time favorites. The 2005 Johnny Depp movie has inspiring moments. The music by Bricusse and Newley is unforgettable (sometimes to my family’s chagrin as I CONSTANTLY hum the Oompa Loompa song). I have wanted to bring this story to life on stage for a very long time, and now with the recent release of the stage musical we can! I have enjoyed working with this

extremely talented cast, crew, and staff, and hope that you all enjoy being transported to a “world of pure imagination.”

WAUKESHA C IV IC THEATRE MISS ION STATEMENT

WCT’s mission is to provide quality live theatre performances and educational op-portunities that enrich, challenge, and entertain both participants and audience members.

SPOTLIGHT ON THE BOARD OF D IRECTORS

Welcome to the Waukesha Civic Theatre and this performance of Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka. I have loved this story since I was a child. I can remember imagining what it would have been like to be lucky enough to fi nd one of those fi ve Golden Tickets. Touring the Wonka factory would have been the experience of a lifetime. Imagine the expectation you would have felt for the unknown wonders that lie ahead.

I have wonderful news; Waukesha Civic Theatre has a Golden Ticket for you. Well, it isn’t actually golden but the ticket that you hold for this performance is just as amazing. To me, there is nothing quite so fantastic as watching a live theatre performance. There is something incredible about seeing a show that was created just for you and your fellow audience members.

We have a whole season of incredible performances ahead of us and we don’t want you to miss a moment. If you aren’t a subscriber, please consider purchasing one of our three subscription packages. If you are a subscriber, we would ask you to tell your friends, neighbors, co-workers, and even strangers walking down the street about the terrifi c theatre that you have experienced here.

Now sit back, relax, and enjoy the unknown wonders that lie ahead.
