Keeping you up to date with progress
The planner is a vital communication tool. Please check on a regular basis. This is where your child will write down details of homework. We also use it for teacher comments and for merits.
In additionYou will get 3 progress up-dates per yearAnd a written report from the form tutor
There is a whole school celebration assembly at the end of each term and a Key Stage 3 Celebration afternoon in July.
Getting involved
New Year 7 students can look forward to
• Year 7 team-building day • House events such as Swimming and Drama• Book week events• Non uniform day for charity• History trip• Talent shows

My role as KS3 Coordinator
• Wellbeing of year 7 students• Monitor academic progress• Promote high standards/expectations • Encourage participation in school life• Develop home/school partnership
Registration / Attendance
• Students should register at 8.30am.• Please contact the school reception if your child is unwell
or going to be late.• If absent the office will send a text /email home.• Planned absences - students bring a letter/write a note
in the planner to tutor.• 3 days or more planned absence contact the Head’s PA

he/she must sign out at reception.
• IMPORTANT: The Head teacher cannot grant leave of absence in term time unless exceptional circumstances
Getting into a good routine
• Student planner is a key tool for communication• Students use it every day to record homework• Useful for messages between home/school• Parent checks and signs it weekly• Form tutor checks and signs it weekly
• Familiarise him/herself with the new journey to school• Check school bag when child arrives home.• Check the planner, check for homework, check if there
are any letters home• Check he/she has the correct books for the next day
Uniform
• Uniform guidelines for boys / girls in the student planner
• School uniform stockists have displays in the dining room
• Boys only should try on rugby tops in the Sixth form area (at end of A floor corridor) at the end of the evening.
Team-building – Friday 19th September
• Fun activities at Mixenden Outdoor centre
• Spider’s web, Maze activity, Cross the Swamp• Problem-solving• Teamwork• Communication
Transition day - Friday 4 July
• 8.30am – 3.25pm
• Meet form tutor and other year 7’s• Have a tour of the school with sixth formers• Experience some lessons• Take part in music workshops• Finger scans will be taken to allow access to the building
via keypads and purchase school lunches• Children will receive their house ties
‘ParentPay’ online payments
• Please log on to ParentPay in July/August and load up the account.
• One day ‘overdraft’ facility - if you forget to pre-load the account, students will still be able to have lunch for that day. School will contact you and the account must have funds in by the next day.
• Mr Baigent will be available to answer questions in the Finance office (at end of A floor corridor, through the door and left)
Parking
• Safety of students is our primary concern• No cars allowed onto school site• No parking at back of school so students can cross safely
• Please park along the sides of the ‘Moor’• A little further to walk but safer for everyone
Transition day - Friday 4 July
• Wear primary school uniform
• Bring pencil case and equipment • Bring best piece of written work – handwritten• Bring lunch money (£2.50) or a packed lunch
• Return any outstanding reply slips, e.g. permission slips for biometric scanning and team-building trip
