UPCOMING MARCH MISSION EMPHASIS & EVENTS
Week of Prayer for North American Missions
and the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering March 2 - 9
Firmly Planted . . . Rooted in the Gospel Matthew 13:3 - 9, 18 - 23
In the scripture passage, Jesus tells the parable of
the sower. The sower spreads the seed intentionally and generously upon many types of soil, and each type yields unique results. As Southern Baptists, we are all partners in sowing the seeds and firmly planting the gospel throughout North America. NAMB missionaries are involved in planting churches dedicated to ensuring that those who hear the good news of Jesus Christ are firmly planted in the gospel and are bearing fruit. The call to sow seeds is a call we all share, but we can’t sow seeds sitting in the comfort of our homes or churches. We must sow individually and collectively with inten-tionality, and that means getting our hands dirty for the kingdom. We don’t sow only once, and we don’t choose only the choicest soils. We sow generously and widely.
The Annie Armstrong Easter Offering is much more than an offering envelope and an annual missions-giving emphasis. When we give to the offering, 100% of our gifts will be transformed into missionary salaries and ministry supplies. Those missionaries and supplies will help others hear the message of Christ and respond in faith to His offer of salvation. They know that behind each penny given, there is a Southern Baptist who be-lieves in what they do and are affirming the need to equip them to share the gospel with those who need a Savior. The national goal is $70,000,000.
Support our missionaries and our church plants with your intentional partnership. Make sure you are firmly planted so you can help others be the same. Our goal for Berea this year is $5,300.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my appreciation to those women who filled the choir loft for WMU Sunday a few weeks ago. They did an
outstanding job, as did all the women who took part in the service. Thanks, ladies, for your contributions to WMU Sunday, and thank you, Tina for your organization of the service.
I know it’s hard to believe, but Easter is less than two months away, and the Chancel Choir is working on something very special for our Easter Sunday worship. It is a short musical entitled Finished, and features several well-loved Gaither songs, a few classic hymns and two original songs. If you would like to sing with us, feel free to come on Wednesday evening at 7:30pm for our Chancel Choir rehearsal. We’d love to have you!
Speaking of Easter, let me remind you that we will be having our special Holy Week services leading up to Easter Sunday on April 20. This begins, of course, with Palm Sunday Worship on April 13 at 11:00am. This will be followed by the Maundy Thursday Communion at 7:00pm
and the Good Friday Tenebrae Service, also at 7:00pm. The Easter Sunrise Service will be at 6:45am Easter Sunday followed by our annual Easter Breakfast in Faith Hall. Make your plans to join us for these special services.
I know many of you were disappointed last week with the news that the pastoral candidate selected by the search committee had withdrawn his name. However, this is no reason to lose the excitement and enthusiasm the we need during these days and weeks ahead.
Remember, we are on God’s calendar, not our own, and He knows what is best for us. As some would say, “Keep the faith,” and remember the words of the prophet Isaiah, “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Let us continue forward, doing and seeking God’s will, as we wait upon Him to reveal His wonderful plans for us.

Sunday, March 9
MISSION UPDATES
WMU Sunday! February 9 was a wonderful day to focus and cel-ebrate the history, mission and ministry of WMU. Thank you to everyone that had a part in the
service, taking care of our guest and the meal to make the day so special. Our guest speaker was Mrs. Sandra Johnson, a Mission Service Corps Mis-sionary through the North American Mission Board and President and Founder of Triad Ladder of Hope in High Point NC. Sandra brought a powerful mes-sage on the problem of human trafficking and how we as a church can and should work to help stop this worldwide problem. In your bulletin was an in-sert with information about how you can be in-volved or financially support Sandra’s ministry. Please keep Sandra and Triad Ladder of Hope in your prayers. Additional copies will be located in the Narthex.
WMU Sunday was also the beginning of the Week of Prayer for the WMU NC Heck-Jones Of-fering. Offering envelopes are located in the pew racks. We will continue to collect this offering for a few more weeks. Please give to this special offering as God leads to help support the missionaries and mission efforts of WMU of NC. THANK YOU FOR ALL THE HOMEMAD VAL-ENTINE COOKIES for our Adopt-A-School Min-istry to Lake Norman High School Teachers and Staff. We received 1,600 cookies! Thank you for all the volunteers that stayed to help package them and thank you to Joyce Brinkley, our Adopt-A-School Coordinator for delivering them. BABY BOTTLE BOOMERANG UPDATE! In conjunction with Sanctity of Human Life Sunday, we distributed baby bottles for the Baby Bottle Boomerang to benefit the Community Pregnancy Center in Mooresville and their ministry to women in crisis pregnancies. On Sunday, February 16, 15 bottles were returned with donations and were de-livered to the center. Thank you for your generous giving to this ministry.
I am very excited that our Youth will be returning to Greensboro for our 3rd annual Acquire the Fire winter conference again this year. The con-ference is the best weekend our Youth will experience all year. We will be leaving on Friday afternoon
around 4:00pm and returning home around 11:00pm that night. Then we will meet at Lineberger Youth building at 7:00am for a quick biscuit and donut and head back to Greensboro on Saturday. We should be back home Saturday night around 11:00pm. The speakers and the Worship team that leads us at each session are very strong in their faith and makes a great connection with all the Youth. It is also a great time for our Youth to see thousands of other local Youth worshiping and learning more about God. The culture they live in 24/7 back here at school is so different and they really get an opportunity to see that there are so many other Youth that are sold out to Christ in their everyday walk. There is no charge for the Youth con-ference except for the lunch and dinner meals on Sat-urday.
Forgiveness is our theme for Berea Kids in March. I am very excited that our kids will be experiencing Bible stories about how relationships can be healed. They will be taught that forgiveness is deciding that someone who has wronged you doesn’t have to pay.
When we choose to forgive others, it’s a response to the great love and forgiveness God has shown us. For-giveness means letting go of what someone did to us in order to restore the relationship.
But forgiveness isn’t always a simple exchange. What if the person never apologizes? Forgive anyway. What if the person does it again? Forgive again. What if the person never changes? Keep on forgiving. By control-ling how you respond and making an alternate choice to forgive, you can delete the impact of what that per-son did to you. The monthly memory verse is: “Forgive the things you are holding against one an-other. Forgive, just as the Lord forgave you,” Co-lossians 3:13, NIrV. —Larry
