The Principal’s Outlook: “Dive into Academics”

Dear Parents, I hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday with family and friends. We’ve just a few short weeks before winter break and lots to do beforehand. We are gearing up for semester exams, and the end of first semester. The semester exam schedule is at-tached to this newsletter. Please familiarize yourself as the middle school exam experience may be new for our seventh-grade stu-dents. As always, please contact your students’ teachers if you have any questions. If your child is not already taking advantage of GAP sessions, now would be a good time to start in preparation for ex-ams. The grading period ends on January 10, students return to school on January 8th, and report cards will be issued on January 22nd.

Looking back, November was an exciting month. Right before the Thanksgiving holiday, students experienced Kids vs. Kops fund-raising event. Our amazing Jack-son Middle School basketball players took on the Titusville Po-lice Department. Though our stu-dents were in the lead at one point, TPD ultimately defeated us for the third year in a row, but only by two points this time. It is a won-derful community building event for students to meet and play with Titusville Officers. We appreciate that they took the time to spend with our youth and, we will get them next year! As part of our Parent Workshop series, we are offering two oppor-tunities for parents to participate in a workshop titled “Anxiety, Bully-ing, and Stress, Oh My!” on De-cember 9th at 10:00 am or Decem-ber 11th at 6:00 pm in the AJMS Media Center. These sessions are being led by our School Psycholo-gist, Lauren Taurasi, and Social Worker, Zuleyka Lopez.
