Good afternoon everyone and thank you for joining us for the first game of the FAWNL 21/22 season.

It’s fantastic to be able to welcome fans back to join us for what should be an exciting season. We missed not having supporters last year tremendously, especially after starting to develop a big following of new and young supporters from within the club. With your support I truly believe this could be a special season for the Women’s team.

I think it speaks volumes that we were able to keep our squad together with a number of teams actively looking to recruit them. Not only that but we have brought in several new signings that have added significant quality and depth. This is without

doubt the most exciting and talented squad I have had since working in the women’s game. Added to that the new shirt sponsor that will be announced soon, it’s an extremely exciting time to be connected with SMWFC.

Today we face an excellent Leek Town

side who haven’t lost a league game for two years and were completely justified in the FA’s decision to grant upward movement. If I could have hand-picked an opponent for the first game of the season, this most certainly wouldn’t have been it. Leek will come to us without fear and I’m sure will count themselves as favourites and looking at a tilt at the league title.

We should be in for a great game to kick start the league season. Please stick with us and the girls will reward your faith and do Solihull proud.
