ILCOPS The Lincoln police Department partnered with Logan County EMA and Lincoln Rural Fire Department to host the 2017 ILCOPS bicycle fundraiser stop here in Lincoln IL at the Rural Fire Department. During the stop Officer James Brockmeyer was remembered with members of his family present, as well as fellow officers from the Chester Police Department in Randolph County. Corporal Maurice Johnson assisted with the funeral arrangements for Brockmeyer as Johnson belongs to the ILCOPS response team. Corporal Johnson was also honored for being the 2016 Officer of the Year during the stop. Cpl Johnson continues to do high quality work with a no nonsense approach to law enforcement to help keep our community safe.

NEWS

Training July 9th: Cpl. Brian Clements completed a course on Domestic Violence sponsored by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board. July 20th: Sgt. Robert Sherren completed a course on Introduction to Incident Command System sponsored by the Emergency Management Institute. July 21st: Off. Brandon Berkley completed two course, one on Domestic Violence and one on Courter Terrorism Awareness, both sponsored by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board. All officers completed Use of Force training and qualified with department issued firearms.

Events July 14th: The 13th Annual Cycle Across Illinois benefitting IL Concerns of Police Survivors, Illinois Chapter, made a stop at the Lincoln Rural Fire Department. There was a recognition and honor ceremony for fallen Chester Police Officer James Brockmeyer. The cyclist were fed lunch and then were on their way to finish their journey. July 21st: The Lincoln Police Department offered security for the Third Friday Downtown Event.

MONTHLY STATISTICS

Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) UCR is the reporting system that the State of Illinois uses. These statistics are sent to the FBI to be included in the Federal UCR statistics. These statistics include the most major crimes. Although the State of Illinois has many offenses some are grouped together for these stats, for instance battery is included in assaults. Vehicle Crashes There were 26 crashes that the Lincoln Police Department responded to for July 2017. Total for the year is 215.

Fines Fines collected, by the Logan County Circuit Clerk, for Lincoln during the month of July were $3,152.31 bringing the total to $35,114.52 for the calendar year. Fines collected for Parking Tickets for the month of July was $50.00 bringing the total collected this calendar year to $183.64.

DIVISION REPORTS

Patrol While patrolling the streets in July, the officers wrote 2 City Possession of Cannabis/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia Ordinance Violation in addition to the Traffic Citations and other City Ordinance Citations that were written in July.

Criminal Investigations Monthly Cases Report Summary for July 2017

The detectives of the Criminal Investigation Division of the Lincoln Police Department conducted further investigation on 17 active criminal investigations in the month of July. The types of investigations are listed but due to the sensitivity of those investigations, specific information is not available for release.

(5) Investigations were narcotics related. These cases involved the possession and distribution of

cocaine and heroin, drug induced homicide, and drug induced aggravated battery.

(5) Investigations involved sexual offenses. These crimes involved both adults and children with

offenses including criminal sexual assault, criminal sexual abuse, and sexual exploitation.

(3) Investigation involved the death of an individual.

(2) Investigations involved property crimes.

(1) Investigation involved the unlawful sale of a firearm.

(2) Search warrants were executed to further investigations in these cases.

Two officers of the Criminal Investigations Division continued to participate in a multi-

jurisdictional drug task force, conducting joint investigations with other local, state, and federal

agencies.

DARE/Community Policing July 6th, 10th, 14th, 18th, and 29th: Officers Kitner and Fruge spent time during these days to talk with kids in the community. They handed out bubble wands, sidewalk chalk, Frisbees, balls and stuffed animals to the kids. It was a huge hit and something we will continue to do. July 6th: Lincoln DARE donated $200 to a local young man who was accepted on a National Baseball team. This will help cover the families cost to travel out of state. July 10th: Lincoln DARE donated $180 to the Lincoln Boys Soccer Booster Club. July 21st: Because of the generous donations businesses and citizens of the community have given, we were able to purchase a new trailer for the DARE program which we will be able to use in the community to provide DARE items and provide refreshments at events.. July 28th: Officer Christy Fruge had breakfast with the kids at Little Lambs daycare. July 28th: Sgt. Rob Sherren and Officer Christy Fruge stopped by and watched baseball camp at West Lincoln Broadwell School. When the boys were finished, we gave them popsicles to cool off. July 29th: All of the Lincoln Police Officers working this day went to 4 Corners Lube to have the Lincoln Junior High School Softball girls wash our squads for donations. Lincoln DARE donated $50 to the girls. Officer Christy Fruge has been working to get things ready for the DARE/Crime Stoppers tent at the Logan County Fair.

Lincoln K9 Officer Sullivan and K9 Ace had 13 deployments for the month of July. Lincoln Police Department requested the K9 Unit 7 times and the Logan County Sheriff’s Department requested the LPD K9 Unit 2 times and the Mount Pulaski Police Department requested the LPD K9 Unit 1 time. The K9 indicated 4 out of the 13 deployments. Out of the 4 indications, there were 1 indication where drugs were found, 2 indications drug paraphernalia were found and 1 indication where currency was found. The drug indicated was Cocaine along with drug paraphernalia. The amount of currency indicated on was $7886.00.

School Resource Officer Butterfield has begun the formal training of Lincoln Schools in the newly adopted lock down procedure from the "I Love U Guys" foundation. All schools and first responders in the county will be training using this standard response protocol.
