WELCOME
ELCOME TO OUR service of Matins Wthis morning which will be led by
Rev’d Mike Stewart and our Lay Minister Terry
Ellis will preach. We will draw the monthly
100 Club winner after the service.
Next Sunday, the 10th June is the Sunday
nearest to the day of our Patronal Festival,
June 11th, Saint Barnabas’ Day and we will
mark this with a Holy Communion service on
this Red Letter day in the church calendar ,
Rev’d Mike Stewart will preside at this
service and there will be refreshments after-
wards and we invite people to bring a ‘bring-
and-share picnic’ ...perhaps ‘serious canapés’
.... for the occasion.
There will be no service in the morning on
Sunday 17th but in the afternoon Rev’d Mike
Stewart will conduct the second of our quar-
terly services for Families and Children and
this will be based on the parable of the Good
Samaritan.
From 10.00 a.m. on Tuesday 19th all will be
welcome at our monthly COFFEE MORNING
and on the following Sunday June 24th Rev’d
Mike Stewart will be with us for Matins.
As there will be no July newsletter, we can
tell you that Lay Minister Terry Ellis will con-
duct a Matins service on July 1st and Rev’d
Mike Stewart will preside at a service of Holy
Communion on Sunday 8th of July.
The next COFFEE MORNING will be on
Tuesday July 10th, a few days before the
CHERRY FAIR on the 14th and this will be an
opportunity for some planning before the big
day. There will be no service on the 15th and
Lay Minister Chris Watts will lead a Matins
service on the 22nd.
There will not be a service on July 29th as
the roads will be closed for the Prudential
RideLondon – Surrey Classic cycle race. We
will celebrate Matins again with Lay Minister
Terry Ellis on Sunday August 5th.
Cabbages and Kings (and Cherries!)
“The time has come the Walrus said to talk
of many things”……….
…..and yes the time has come for the St
Barnabas A-team to roll into action once
again in support of the Cherry Fair on
Saturday 14th July from 11.30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
So do not be..... “late for this very impor-
tant date”.
It is a case of all hands to the pump and
shoulders to the wheel in order to make it hap-
pen but it is well worth the effort when the
time comes to open the gates and welcome
friends, family and visitors to this jolly “brillig
and frabjous” event and, as ever, we rely on
T 7.30 p.m. at St Martin’s, Dan Collins (of A“The Sixteen” fame) will also be singing
vocal solos in a concert of vocal and choral
music performed by the Martineau Ensemble.
The music includes English and Continental
madrigals and part-songs, and concludes with
the Spirituals from Tippett's “A Child of our
Time” and Vaughan Williams’ “Five English
Folk Songs” and on SUNDAY JULY 8th.....
........at 6.00 p.m. there will be a Special Choral
Evensong in Celebration of this Anniversary.

ST BARNABAS for CHILDREN
E INTRODUCED our new quarterly Wservice for children and young fami-
lies last June, when we covered the story of
Noah’s Ark and the Great Flood. We have a
small but loyal group of children and their par-
ents/grandparents who come to those ser-
vices and we are continuing these quarterly
services this year in the hope and belief that
numbers will grow.
So if you have young children and would
like to have them spend a little time in our “sa-
cred space” up here at St Barnabas, please do
come along. The services are at 4 p.m. and last
no more than 40 minutes, followed by re-
freshments, we would really love to see you.
The next quarterly service is on Sunday
17th June at 4 p.m. when the theme will be the
Story of the Good Samaritan. In the Autumn
(Sunday 16th September), we shall celebrate
the Harvest Festival with the Story of the
Feeding of the 5,000, and of course the year
would not be complete without our ever-
popular Christingle and Nativity Play (Satur-
day 22nd December).”
SUNDAY TEAS
HE RESPONSE to the call for volunteers Tto serve Teas in the Churchyard on
Sundays from July 2nd until September 10th
has been most encouraging although there
are still some gaps.
One intrepid team have decided to walk
up from Dorking and open for teas on July
29th when the roads are closed but a consid-
erable number of people do come to Ranmore
to watch the cyclists race past. It will be inter-
esting to see the response and how much busi-
ness they do.
CONGRATULATIONS
N APRIL 7th Giles Heather & Rebecca OHackett were married at St Barnabas
and April 21st saw the marriage of Benjamin

future and trust they will visit St Barnabas
from time to time.
We also congratulate Leo David Gale on
his baptism on 6 May. Leo is the son of Joe
and Rosanna Gale who were married here at
St Barnabas last year.
