Month 2015-16
P YP Grade 3 students had a very fulfilling and enlightening
study tour to Prince of Wales museum - Kala Goda, fort Mumbai. The
trip took place on the 8th of December, 2015. A total of forty three
students and five teachers were involved.
This study tour opened up new ideas on our current Unit Of
Inquiry - ARTS. We all had a chance to see real Indian history
through works of different Artists. We saw different religious and
cultural sculptures, paintings, textile designs, photographic art, just
to name a few. What caught the attention of everybody was the
NATURAL HISTORY. There was a rich natural history of India on
display. Many land animals, sea animals and a variety of bird species
were beautifully set up for us to see. It's interesting to note that most
of background displays in the animal cubicles was landscape and
seascape paintings by artists.
At the end of our tour, it was evident on the students and teachers
faces that, THEY ALL ENJOYED THE VISIT.

REFLECTION ON XUBERANCE 2015
I t was a great privilege to represent our school at the annual festival, Xuberance hosted by Dr. Pillai Global Academy, Borivili on December 4, 2015. We were selected for the category Cooking without Fire.
When we gave in our names, we were unaware of the challenges and excitement awaiting us. We left
no stone unturned to present our best. We had a detailed brainstorming session with Mrs. Uma
Gandhi about our menu. We were also fully aware that presentation of the dishes too plays a very
important role in the competition. So we made a check list of all the cutlery and equipment required.
On the day of the competition we realized that we were pitched against well prepared and
enthusiastic teams representing about ten schools. This only helped to pump our spirit and zeal to a
new high. We were given two hours to get ready with our dishes. Out came our apron and hat and all
the ingredients and we started whipping out our dishes with great gusto. We realized cooking can be
all the more exciting when in a competition. Our main dish was pita bread and hummus accompanied
by a tangy salad. Then we made an appetizing dessert with seasonal fruits, whipped cream and
chocolate sauce. It looked so tempting that we had to control each other lapping it all up. Then, came
the inviting thirst quencher, cranberry cooler. We were so excited and proud of our creation. We took
just 45 minutes to get all this in order.
The judges loved out food and had a special word of appreciation for our dishes and commended us
for being the only “all boys” team. However, we did not win a prize. Probably we were up against
tough competition. Nevertheless, we awarded ourselves by quickly licking off every morsel of food we
had prepared. Mmmm...It was finger licking good!
It was a great opportunity and we thank our school for having given us such a wonderful opportunity. A special thanks to Mrs.Uma Gandhi who guided us at every step and also took the responsibility to accompany us to Borivili.

ISA Project
Grade 8 Exploring Societies in Individual and Societies Subject
F ew days back, when Jasmine Ma’am told us about our next brainstorming activity we were overjoyed. We
were put into groups based on our seating arrangement. Our project topic was "Is India a multi-cultural society.
Justify.” We discussed about the various cultures and religions India is blessed with. We looked for instances
which shows India’s diversity as strength for the nation. After lot of petty and great discussions, we finalized on
the points we wanted to speak. We stated points based on these main ideas, with each group contributing at least 2
ideas. Ideas like ‘India has many states and multiple languages’, and ‘India has a lot of different traditional
festivals and clothes’, ‘India’s food is enticing’, ‘How music and sports unites India’ were unanimous sharing. I
enjoyed this activity and hope to do more activities like this in the future for our project.
