Course description: A more analytical treatment of accounting theory and practice,
with a review and amplification of basic procedures. Topics
include cash, receivables, inventories, plant assets, intangible
assets, current and contingent liabilities, long-term debt and
financial statement presentation and disclosure. 4 class hours.
Course prerequisite: ACC102 with a grade of C or higher.
Course learning
outcomes:
1. Analyze accounting transactions for application of generally
accepted accounting principles
2. Prepare complete financial statements with understanding of
appropriate presentation.
Required materials:
1. Intermediate Accounting package 15th edition
Kieso/Weygandt/Warfield-publisher John Wiley-ISBN#:
9781118147276 (Volume I chapters 1-14).
2. Supplies-pencils, erasers, calculator (non-programmable)
Attendance policy: ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY. I expect you to attend each class
and to be punctual. You should miss a class only if absolutely
necessary. Any more than 2 absences may result in a withdrawal from
the course. These 2 absences are for ANY and ALL reasons. Do NOT
expect to take 2 illegitimate absences and then come in and ask for
consideration because you are forced to miss a 3rd time due to a
legitimate reason (illness, death in family, etc.). Obviously then you
should be careful about missing class because even if you have a
legitimate reason late in the semester, but you already have missed 2
classes, you will be dropped (withdrawn) from the course.
IF ABSENT, YOU ARE TO BE PREPARED FOR THE NEXT CLASS
MEETING (i.e. to obtain assignments from Blackboard or classmates).
Withdrawal policy: If you are considering withdrawing from this class, please consult
with a financial aid advisor before you withdraw.
Last day to withdraw from an individual course with a grade of
“W” – April 28, 2017 in-person or April 29, 2017 on-line.

Examination and
makeup policy:
There will be 3-4 exams and a final. You are expected to take the
exams when they are scheduled.
Academic Honesty during exams: anyone caught cheating during
an exam will be subject to the college’s disciplinary process. Cells
phones can NOT be used during an exam for ANY reason. If you
are caught using a cell phone during an exam, at a minimum you
will receive a zero for that exam.
Grading policy: Your final grade will be based on the following:
Exam 1 10%
Exams 2-4 85%
Other 5%
Total 100%
Final letter grade will be determined as follows:
4.0 = A = 90-100% 2.0 = C = 72-74.9%
3.7 = A- = 87-89.9% 1.7 = C- = 69-71.9%
3.3 = B+ = 84-86.9% 1.3 = D+= 66-68.9%
3.0 = B = 80-83.9% 1.0 = D = 63-65.9%
2.7 = B- = 77-79.9% .7 = D- = 60-62.9%
2.3 = C+ = 75-76.9% -0- = F = 59.9% and below
Classroom policies:
1. To get the maximum benefit of class lecture, I expect you to
plan your activities so that you will arrive to class on time and will
not have to leave early.
2. All phones must be on silent during class time and OFF THE
DESK. Do not text during class. You will be asked to
permanently leave the class if the phone or your conduct causes a
disturbance.
3. Please do not leave class unless it’s absolutely necessary.
4. Neither audio nor video recordings of the instructor or this class
can be made without the explicit prior written permission of the
instructor.

Other Learning
Centers:
MCC has a number of Learning Centers at Brighton (for example,
Accounting, Math, Nursing, Psychology, Writing, the Electronic
Learning Center, etc.) and at Damon (the Integrated Learning
Center). Learning Centers are staffed with instructional personnel
and may be equipped with computers to assist students. It is
recommended that students use these Learning Centers to get
additional assistance with concepts learned in the classroom.

and objectives for your use of the Learning Center(s).

Class cancellations:
Class cancellation information is available daily on the web or
through the telephone. Simply go to the MCC website
(www.monroecc.edu) and under the "Quick Links" window on the
homepage, click on "Class Cancellations". Additionally, class
cancellation information is available by dialing 292-2066, press
"1" for the Brighton Campus and "2" for the Damon Campus. If
possible, please use the web as there could be delays in the voice
recordings based on the number of cancellations.
Emergency closings:
If the College is closed due to inclement weather or some other
emergency, all Rochester area radio and television stations will be
notified no later than 5:30 a.m. In addition, the homepage on the MCC
website (www.monroecc.edu) will display a message indicating the
College is closed. Please do not call the College to avoid overloading
the telephone lines.
In the event of an emergency, such as a campus evacuation or closure,
severe weather alert, fire in a building, hazardous material incident, etc.,
where time-sensitive, proactive actions need to be communicated, the
SUNY NY-Alert system will be utilized to provide immediate
notification to all MCC students and employees who have opted to
receive such alerts. Those who sign up for SUNY NY-Alert can choose
to receive emergency messages via a variety of communication
technologies, such as e-mail (college and/or personal accounts), and
audio and/or text message to a campus, home or cell phone, fax, etc. For
