Dear Parents/Guardians, Primary 4 Assessment Schedule for 2019

In line with the Ministry of Education’s efforts to move away from an over-emphasis on academic results, the school is embarking on holistic assessment for Primary 4.

2. Bite-sized forms of assessment will be conducted throughout the year to support the pupils’ development and achievement in learning. These assessments conducted will not be counted to form any overall mark or grade. Teachers will use the information from these assessments to check for pupils’ understanding and provide timely feedback to improve learning.

3. There will be two formal assessments in the form of Semestral Assessments (SAs) which will be conducted in Terms 2 and 4. The assessment schedule for the year is attached as Annex A.

4. The table shows the weightings for assessment for 2019:

5. The format and scope of the Semestral Assessment 1 (SA1) for Term 2 and Semestral Assessment 2 (SA2) are attached as Annex 1 and Annex 2 respectively. 6. Please note the following:

Our school places great emphasis on good values like honesty and integrity. Disciplinary action will be taken against candidates who are caught cheating or engaging in acts of dishonesty/disruption during the examination.

All absences must be substantiated by a Medical Certificate.

There will be NO make-up paper for Semestral Assessments.

Pupils who are absent without any valid reason will be awarded zero mark for the paper missed. Pupils who are absent with a Medical Certificate will be awarded a VR for the paper missed, to indicate Valid Reason and the marks will be pro-rated. Please see summary table overleaf.
