The Special Programs Department may recommend testing for those students currently enrolled at LCS who manifest weak academic skills, issues with attention span or symptoms of a learning disability. Personnel in the department complete a review of the student’s academic history and receive feedback from current classroom teachers. After private testing is completed, parents will submit a copy of the report to the administrator or Special Programs staff. A meeting will then be arranged to discuss the results of the psychological evaluation, and recommendations for accommodations are reviewed with the parents. The Special Programs staff utilizes this information to determine placement at a level of support required to meet the needs of the student.

Full psychological testing is required for enrollment in Special Programs and must be current within three years.

An academic re-evaluation of students placed in Special Programs may be requested every three years to monitor progress, to evaluate continued need of services and to remain eligible for the program.
