Category of Project Proponent: System Integrator 3. Executive Summary of the Proposal

Christy Friedgram Industry is based in Tiruchengode, Tamil Nadu and is manufacturer of flour and other food items. The Solar Power will be used to feed the loads connected to LT Panel. The solar power is fed to the LT panel from which the power is given to the loads that is planned to be connected to Solar system. The Solar PV array rating considered is 14.5 KW and the inverter rating considered is 1 number of 12.5 KVA. The Solar Panels will be installed on the Roof space available on top of the Admin Building and hence it is a Roof Mounted System. The inverter shall be placed near the LT Panel and LT panel will be placed inside the existing control room building.

4. Benefits of the project Using Solar Energy will help in making environment cleaner by avoiding use of electricity from conventional sources as well as from diesel generators at times of power outages. In addition to the financial implications, installing non-conventional power sources will help in setting an example to the employees as well as the society in large to go green for their power.

3. Details of Proposed Power Plant

i) Proposed capacity of the SPV Power Plant (kWp) : 14.5 kWp ii) Availability of shadow free south facing land area for the power plant with

photograph

The Proposed power plant will be set up on the Building’s RCC Roof Top. There are no major obstructions on the roof top. Care has been taken to avoid the shadow on the modules. Modules can be placed facing to the south. A total of 200 Sq Mtrs area is available for installation of solar panels which can easily accommodate 14.5 kWp solar panels. Site photograph is attached for reference

iii) Details of loads to be energized by Power Plant (kW): After carefully analyzing the loads of the building for the past 6 months, it is estimated that the peak load rises to 80 kW , the lowest load is 45 kW (At Weekends ) and the average load is 75 kW. Thus, the 15 kW system will aid them in reducing the dependence on Grid and also help them cut down diesel cost in their DG. The main loads that are going to be energized are Fan, lights and computers .

iv) Calculations and justification for the proposed capacity (Please elaborate) The client’s average load is 75 kW. The roof’s availability is restricted to the usage of 14.5 kW only. Hence, the size of the plant is based on the availability of roof area as well as budget for solar installation. Setting up of solar plant is part of the green initiative taken up the by the school. However, due considerations have been given to financial implications as well, and it has been made sure that the payback period of the project is investment friendly for the school.

v) Expected annual energy generation The Solar PV system is a grid interactive system and there are energy losses that occur at each component of the system like Array Soiling Loss, DC Cable loss, shadow losses, module quality and mismatch losses, Inverter Loss etc. Considering all these losses, the expected annual energy generation from this 14.5 kW DC Solar Power Plant is approximately 22,500 Units per Annum.

4. Details of electrical load where the Plant is to be installed

i) Total Electrical load (kW): 80 kW ii) Total electrical load to be met by the SPV power plant (kW): 14.5 KW iii) Lighting/ fans/ computers (nos and capacity):

Since the Solar Energy generated is fed in parallel to the EB and DG power, it is not possible to categorize the load to which Solar energy has been fed. All kinds of loads are used in the premises like Lights, Fans, Air conditioners, Computers etc.

iv) Water Pumping load (drinking/ irrigation water supply), if any Water Pumps are also used for water supply within the school for process and canteen.

v) Other appliances - N/A

vi) Any other load - N/A

5. Technology Description & System Design /Specification i. Line diagram of the complete System with details

13 modules of 280 Wp capacity each are connected in series and 4 such strings are connected in parallel to arrive at a capacity of 14.560 kWp DC. 1 Nos. of 12.5 kW inverter are used and inverter is given 4 input strings. Further the inverter has 2 MPPT’s which individually take 8kW each. The output of the inverters are combined in a LT panel and the power is Fed into the local DB.

The same has been attached with the application form.

ii. Capacity/ Power of each PV Module (kWp)

Each PV module capacity is 280Wp.

iii. Number of modules and total array capacity (nos. & kWp)

No. of Modules is 52 totaling to Capacity of 14.56 KWp

iv. Solar cell technology and Module efficiency proposed to be used

Cell Technology - Poly Crystalline

Efficiency is 14.4 %

v. Details of Tracking of PV Array (if proposed)

Fixed module mounting structures are proposed for the System.

vi. Designed peak power of PV power plant/project (kWp) The peak power is 14.5 kWp (Please provide design details to justify the capacity of the plant to meet the proposed loads) As the plant will be connected to the LT panel, all the power generated shall be consumed along with the EB Supply and no specific load is being connected to the PV plant. As per the inverter’s design, first preference of consumption is given to the Solar Power and then to EB, hence, the consumption is also done in most efficient manner.

vii. PCU/inverter capacity with detailed specifications (kVA)
