FEATURE PRODUCT:HIGH PRESSURE GRINDING ROLLS

What are HPGR?

Used in mining applications for the last 30 years, high pressure grinding rolls (HPGR) reduce particles by crushing the feed between two counter rotating, parallel rollers with a small gap between them. This forces the rocks against each other and compresses the feed’s density to 80% of its solid volume, exceeding its compressive strength with equal pressure being applied to particles of all sizes.

Why use HPGR?

With their excellent throughput capacity, low maintenance requirements and energy efficiency, high pressure grinding rolls are fast becoming a go-to for greenfield projects looking to maintain their margins despite commodity price pressures and declining ore grades.

On average, 53% of a mine site’s energy consumption is attributed to crushing and grinding ores accounting for almost 10% of a site’s production costs.

Where HPGR technology has replaced traditional methods of crushing and grinding such as SAG or ball mills, customers have seen energy savings of up to 40%, and substantially improved mineral liberation.

• Decrease your energy consumption by up to 40%

• Reduce recirculation and wear within your crushing circuits

• Enhance your downstream mineral liberation

• Reduce your maintenance requirements

• Substantially reduce your water consumption

14

Enduron® high pressure grinding rolls (HPGR) set the benchmark for energy efficient grinding and use dynamic skewing to provide best-in-class wear life for mining applications.

Applications

• Coarse iron ore grinding and pellet feed

• Secondary/tertiary grinding (phosphate, gold, copper, nickel, lead, zinc, chromite, platinum, vanadium, molybdenum)

• Diamonds - selective liberation

• Pebble crushing

ENDURON® HIGH PRESSURE GRINDING ROLLS

Inside the Enduron® HPGR

With low energy consumption, low maintenance requirements and high availability, Enduron® high pressure grinding rolls are a proven way to improve the efficiency of minerals and aggregate grinding circuits.

The innovative design of our Enduron® HPGR maximises crushing pressure while allowing oversized and tramp materials to pass without incident through dynamic skewing. This is only possible with the unique bearing design of our Enduron® HPGR, which prevents bearing failure and enables the rollers to be quickly exchanged within a 24-hour shutdown.

Skewing is a vital feature for high pressure grinding rolls as feed variance, segregation and the presence of tramp materials are inevitable in real world grinding circuits and will lead to uneven grinding and selective wear of the tyres. Skewing allows maximum grinding pressure to be maintained across all particles, while potentially damaging material passes through.

Other HPGR equipment on the market use large lateral walls, or ‘cheek plates’, to reduce the materials exiting the high pressure area horizontally without being properly crushed. However, these cheek plates make it impossible for them to skew. Only our Enduron® HPGR feature a spring-loaded lateral wall that skews alongside the rollers, maintaining a distance of just 1mm to prevent particles falling out the sides unreduced.

within a 24-hour shutdown.

15

How our Enduron® HPGR last longer

Thanks to their premium tungsten carbide studs, Enduron® HPGR tyres outlast the competition. Optimised for load bearing and promoting an autogenous wear layer to absorb wear, our superior tyres come with a robust lifetime guarantee. Combined with our unique bearing assembly that reduces the risk of failure and the wear reduction associated with skewing, our Enduron® HPGR is expertly engineered to last longer.

Reducing downtime with quick roller exchange

Our unique design enables the rollers to be rapidly replaced, reducing downtime and releasing precious personnel and lifting tools during a planned shutdown.

As the feed chute and hopper don’t need to be disassembled to exchange rollers, our Enduron® HPGR tyres can be replaced within a 24-hour shutdown.

Our innovative approach to HPGR technology

Our grinding technology is backed by continuous research and in-house pilot scale HPGR test facilities. This results in superior equipment efficiency and reliability, providing a solid basis for circuit design and scale-up. We have extensive test facilities in Europe, Australia, North America and Latin America, and draw on practical data provided by our HPGR equipment deployed at sites across the globe.

Unique features of the Enduron® HPGR

• Energy reductions of up to 40% when compared to traditional grinding circuits

• Superior tyre lifetime with premium tungsten carbide studs designed to promote a robust autogenous wear layer

• Optimised diameter to width ratio which produces more fines than the competition

• Skewing allows for passage of tramp or oversize material while maintaining best possible grinding conditions

• Unique bearing assembly allows for dynamic skewing without the risk of bearing failure

• Spring loaded lateral walls prevent particle leakage during skewing

• Quick roller exchange without disassembly of feed chute/hopper

Our Trio® TV series vertical impact crushers are high performance comminution machines. Unlike compression crushers, Trio® TV series crushers accelerate rock to high speeds, breaking it along its natural fracture lines with high energy impacts. This reduces wear on the crusher while still producing high quality shaped aggregates and manufactured sand.

Design features

This high performance, specialised, vertical impact crusher is designed to deliver flexibility through its modular crusher housing and replaceable centre bearing cartridge. This allows our Trio® TV series crushers to perform other tasks for a relatively low capital cost.

In addition, lubrication of the bearing cartridge via a dedicated lubrication unit facilitates a rotor speed that is higher than traditionally offered by grease lubricated bearings.

Due to the method of crushing, our Trio® TV series crushers are subjected to minimum wear during operation,

Applications

• Secondary crushing

• Tertiary crushing

• Beneficiation

• Particle shaping

• Sand manufacture

and can be configured for a variety of crushing, shaping, benefication, and sand production tasks.

A hydraulically powered lid lifting mechanism, external feed pipe adjustment, and a lid inspection cover combine to create a crusher which is simple and safe to service.

Featuring a welded and stress relieved carbon steel main frame, and chrome iron feed plate, impeller shoes and feed pipe, these crushers are robust and reliable. Our Trio® TV series vertical impact crushers also feature tungsten carbide tipped inner and outer rotor bars, replaceable chrome iron wear rings and plates, and cast iron anvil rings.

Our range of vertical shaft impact crushers are designed to meet the ever-changing requirements in the construction aggregate environments.
