Year 12 Home Ec. Project
For their final assignment piece, the Year 12 Food and Hospitality
students baked and decorated special occasion cakes. Their
cakes were to demonstrate current trends in cake
decorating and to use a variety of elements and
decorating techniques. The final cakes showcased the
students skills, research findings and mastery of some
very challenging construction methods. Some great
results were achieved.
From the Principal
Dear Families,
It seems October 31 is a popular day!
Apart from the obvious attention given to what was formerly “All Hallow’s Eve” – the Day
before “All Saints Day”, you probably saw it was this year the 100th anniversary of the
Charge of the 4th Light Horse Regiment at Beersheba.
It was an epic event, with courage, nerve and gritty resolve. It makes for stirring reading,
and is worth finding a good account to read.
For me though, overshadowing other celebrations on this date, is the epic impact that
Martin Luther’s protest had in Germany 500 years ago this week.
Luther was a faithful and dedicated monk, who took very seriously the call to live and
teach the Christian Faith with all seriousness and integrity.
He had two strong passions welling up in him. The first was that the good news of the
Christian gospel was not being represented well. The people were being told that they
had to try hard to be good enough for God, with little assurance that they could have
peace and confidence in their hope in God.
The other conviction was connected to this – that people should be able to have access
to be able to read the Bible in their own language, so they could see and understand
these magnificent truths for themselves.

Mid North Christian College Notices
His realisation that the gospel (good news) was a gift of God profoundly affected him.
He read Habbakuk 2:4, and the words slammed deep into his soul.
“Behold the proud, His soul is not upright in him; But the just shall live by his faith.” (Habakkuk 2:4 NKJV)
He began to read other parts of the Bible which confirmed what he had previously missed. Our righteousness is by the
kindness, the good grace of God. Not anything else.
A believers good standing before God is not a result of effort, or heritage, or worthiness – but of receiving the free gift of
God, and trusting in the finished work of Jesus Christ at the Cross.
This section from the Bible in Ephesians explains it well:
“God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a
reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has
created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” (Ephesians 2:8–10 NLT-SE)
I pray these words will be an encouragement and a blessing to your soul too.
STAFFING—We are pleased to announce Crystal Farinola as our Deputy Principal—Secondary for next year.

PRIMARY MUSICAL PERFORMANCE
The end of year performance will be held here at MNCC on Thursday December 7th.
The Primary classes will each perform the item they are preparing.
There will be two performances, to allow parents and guests to see the show.
There will be a meal in between the performances for the community.
We have decided to plan for the next senior musical to be performed next year, which will be at the Northern Festival
Centre.
PAGEANT
The Port Pirie Twilight Christmas Pageant will be held on Saturday December 2nd.
Last year a group of our super keen parents organised a boat to be set up as a float with the theme “Noah’s Ark”
It was such a success they would like to do it again, only even better!
Kerry Stephens, Katie Evans and their families were key organisers last year, and would like to again make it happen!
Please contact the Front Office if you would like to be involved in the organisation of our float.
BREAKFAST CLUB
Breakfast runs from 8.00am to 8.35am Wednesdays in the Home Economics area. Warm toast is available and a variety of
