A week ago, 29 people returned from a mission trip to
Give Kids the World Village in Florida. When we
returned, I don’t think any of us were the same as when
we left. The opportunity to work with these families and
to see the joy that just a little thoughtfulness and love
can provide, was life changing. To see the strength and
the hope in these families that are facing such difficulty
was inspiring. Plans are already being discussed about
how we might be able to go back. We thank you for the
church’s support for this trip and all the efforts that we
can make to share the love of Christ..

SUNDAY IN WORSHIP Sunday, January 13th, will be Baptism of Our Lord Sunday. The chancel color is green. Our scripture will be
Luke 3: 15-22. The sermon for Sunday is titled, “Remembering Our Baptism.” Please plan to join us in
worshipping God.
GRIEF SHARE CLASSES One of our church ministries is our Grief Support Group, sometime called GriefShare. When someone special to us dies, we are left with a big empty space in our hearts and lives. This support group is comprised of people who have walked where you are walking, who are compassionate and understand many of the feelings you are experiencing. Grief Support will walk with you on the long path to recovery. You will find a warm and caring environment, an oasis as you continue grieving. Meetings are open to anyone, not just church members. We would love to have you join us and you might even find a muffin and some coffee. There is more information available on the narthex table and if you have questions, feel free to call 931.252.5077 or 502.777.0685. Let’s not keep this ministry a secret. Spread the word to those who might benefit from being a part of this group. Note that this term’s sessions will go through the second week of February.
We offer our thanks to Ed and Faith Winston for leading us in special music this week. We also thank Jodi Smith and Linda Welch for volunteering to help us with the PowerPoint during the services.
LOVE-JOY Circle Members of the Love-Joy Circle are encouraged to attend their regular monthly meeting,
to take place on Monday, January 14, at 10:00am in the Session Room of the church.
The new Director of the Child Advocacy Center will be the guest speaker and will have lots of information to share about the Center. Note that you are not asked to bring
items for the Center this month nor do you need to bring cards. Please do remember to
bring your cardboard tubes for the Nursery School. Any woman in the church is
welcome to attend our meeting - we would be happy to have you as our guest!
Food for PSA Bible Study January and February are our church's month to provide meals for the PSA Bible Study on Tuesday nights. There is a signup in the Narthex if you would like to provide part or all of a meal for these students any week during January and February. We also need people to sign up to help deliver these meals.
The Twisted Stitchers will return to their knitting this evening at 6pm in the Session Room. Whether
you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced knitter, you are welcome to join us!

Worship Assistance
Please prayerfully consider helping the church to provide a valuable worship experience for
everyone. We need people to serve as liturgists during morning worship. You will be asked to
read liturgy and to say one prayer. A signup sheet is on the narthex table.
We also need people who have some experience with PowerPoint to help the church run video
for morning worship. Please let Christian know if you are willing to assist.
MISSION NEWS
Our church has become a collection point for the Jammin’ at HIPPIE JACK’S program. Hippie Jack’s delivers food to the poorest regions of the Upper Cumberland. You will hear public service announce- ments on the radio. Donations will be accepted from the community Tuesday through Friday of each week at the church. Let your friends and co-workers know.
We are still collecting QUARTERS. The quarters are being used to make laundry packs to pro-vide those in need with detergent and quarters to do a load of laundry at a laundromat. We have made and distributed about 100 of these in the last six months.
Twisted Stitcher's goal is to have a couple of finished and tagged PRAYER SHAWLS on the desk in the session room at all times. Please help our ministry by getting them to anyone who could benefit from prayers and the love of Christ. If you would, indicate on the list who the blanket went to and help us cover everyone. Thank you.
Good News Class Breakfast The Good News Class will have a breakfast celebration this Sunday, the 13th, during our
normal Sunday School time in the Family Life Center. Please bring a dish and let’s
fellowship! Looking forward to seeing you.
Connection Resumes Our Connection program will resume Wednesday, January 16, with dinner at 5:15pm. On the menu is meatloaf, green peas, mashed potatoes/gravy, rolls and dessert. Cost for the meal is $4/adult and $3/child & youth; no family will pay more than $12 for the meal. Please make your dinner reservation by Tuesday at 10am. Classes will follow the meal with children and youth meeting at 6pm and adult classes meeting at 6:15. Christian and Leanne will be teaching the adult classes this semester. Christian’s topic of study will be leading a discussion focusing on some of the difficult and misused passages of scripture. Topics such as biblical support of slavery and pros-titution will be discussed, as well as how organizations such as the KKK use scripture to support their cause. Leanne will lead a study on becoming love in a world full of setbacks and difficult people based on the book Everybody, Always by Bob Goff. During this study we will share stories and struggles with the hope of creat-
ing a life where all people experience the love of Christ through us.

GREETERS NEEDED
We have a tradition of stationing Greeters in the narthex during the Sunday School
hour. If you are interested in helping us out by being a greeter, see or call Sandra in
the church office. You would be needed once a month or so. Thanks!
The 2019 Flower Calendar has been posted in the narthex. Please write your name in the
appropriate space if you would like to provide flowers for the altar at some point in the year.
Linda Welch will contact you the week during which you are donating flowers to get your
dedication and a description of the type of flowers you would like. The cost of flowers is
$50.00. You may drop a check by the church office or place it in the offering plate on Sunday.
Recycle to Repurpose For the youth’s MLK Weekend Retreat, we will be doing a project by repurposing certain everyday
materials. We are looking for plastic bottle caps, clean chip bags, and colorful cardboard from cereal, snacks,
etc. We will be collecting them on Sunday (13th) and Wednesday (16th). Items may be placed in the bin lo-
cated in the Fellowship Hall.
Adopt-a-College-Student The Missions community will be sponsoring a 2019 adopt a college student ministry for our Tech students
that attend church here and our students that are away at school. Wil will be asking for people to sponsor
college students through prayer and various acts of kindness through the 2019 year. More info on how to
get involved will be available Sunday.
Thank you We want to thank all of those who took the time to help us during the season of Advent by lighting candles
and assisting us with liturgy. Your contributions to the celebration of this joyous season were greatly
appreciated.
