119 St. George Street
In Attendance:
Ryan Jeong (President)
Daniel Humby (Vice-President of Internal Affairs)
Rohan Shah (Vice-President of Financial Affairs)
Haya Sheikh (Vice-President of External Affairs)
Julia Cicconi (Vice-President of Social Affairs)

Valerie Dos Santos (Vice-President of Athletic Affairs)
Regrets:
1. Call to Order – 12:55pm 2. Updates
Humby: No updates. Li: Ordered the holiday cards and hopefully they will be here by Friday. Please take time once they’re in to sign them. I will need someone with good handwriting to address the holiday cards. PR is slowing down for the semester, I am just working with Julia and Rohan for Red Party. I just ask that no one says anything about how many tickets we have left. Shah: This week in terms of finance there’s nothing new except for Red Party ticket sales. Ryan and I met with the person from Rogue Media who is helping us with the charging stations and she just sent an agreement. Everything is good with the dean’s office, we just need to meet with Roger for the location. Sheikh: For external, I met with Adrienne to discuss her plans with the rest of her portfolio. I am working on collaboration with the Bangladeshi Students Association. I think we collabed with them last year and it’s a good way to cater to more students. We are collabing with sick kids next with and OCC will also be there. Dos Santos: So for Athletics, yesterday we had the weight room tutorial at the Strength and Conditioning Centre. I am going to be working the personal trainer again in January again to schedule more tutorials. We also participated in the WCSA Wednesday Movember theme. Tonight we have our Martial Arts class in collaboration with the University of Toronto Taekwando Organization, and raising money for Movember. Fall intramurals for the Woodsworth Teams have ended. Some of the teams came very close to winning the championship in their leagues, some made it to the finals, so I am
proud of the progress the teams have made. I am just signing everyone up for winter teams on IM Sports. The Running Club will be meeting for the last time tomorrow at 4. I am also meeting with all the athletic reps from each college to begin planning the All-Star basketball game in March and we will be forming our committees. I am going to be having the sign-up form for the Raptors game available in December. I am collabing with the Deans Office for the First Year Mentorship Program. Cicconi: We finished paying off all the major fees. We did get a DJ as well. We’ve paid the insurance and the liquor license as well and we will discuss logistics tomorrow. We have 91 tickets sold out of 120. Jeong: Not much to update on this end but like Rohan said we went to the meeting with Rogue Media.
3. Budget Re-Allocation for Social Cicconi: I want to move 400 dollars from the budget line for “Beer Tasting Event” to Formal. Motion to reallocate 400 dollars from the Beer Tasting budget line to that of Red Party Semi Formal. Motioned: Cicconi Seconded: Shah Motion passes.
4. Budget Re-Allocation for Internal Jeong: Moving 30 dollars from the Asecurecart budget line to the Holiday Cards Budget Line. Motion to reallocate 30 dollars from the Asecurecart budget line to the Holiday Cards Budget Line. Motioned: Humby Seconded: Jeong
5. Budget Reallocation for Athletics Motion to move $207.68 from the Equipment budget line to Intramurals Team Jerseys and Equipment. As well as, $200.44 from Cost Recovery to Intramurals Jerseys and Equipment. Motioned: Dos Santos Seconded: Cicconi Motion passes. Dos Santos: Just for clarification, WCSA will be subsidizing half the costs of the jerseys and the players will be paying the remaining amount.
6. CRO Hiring Shah: Since we’ve pushed it to not doing it now due to a messy timeline, how are we going to do this. Will we be doing a call out? And then have the deadline be for as soon as school begins and then do interviews right after, hire someone, and then we need to contact ULife about our vote at least two weeks before. So latest to have them hired is mid-January. Humby: I agree, that’s the timeline we should follow. Shah: Our issue has been not knowing what to put in the callout. I think Liza said that she will talk to Jennifer about this.
Jeong: I agree, I think we should be putting this in the December newsletter. Shah: The other thing is, is this a voluntary position or a honorarium? Jeong: Do we have the budget? Shah: We can find it. Jeong: Let’s get some opinions. Is a 50 dollar honorarium okay? Everyone: Yes. Shah: while we’re on the topic of referendum: we need to talk to people about this at ULife just for how voting will work and what not. Ideally before we all break. They need to approve the process.
7. Red Party Logistics Cicconi: I let you all know that our ETA is 5:30pm for tomorrow night, everything else is being delivered earlier in the day. So it will just be us setting and dealing with event coordinators and the caterers and the AV Tech. The DJ is arriving at 6:45, rentals are being delivered between 12-3, so if everyone could be there at 5:30 that would be great. We also have a projector screen and I am thinking to put up the fireplace from Netflix. The registration will just be taking place in the lobby and Steven will be taking pictures there. Two of us at a time scanning barcodes. We have security there to check ID and the rest of us can be managing coat check. Cash bar logistics. We will have a table inside the space and we can sell tickets there. The drink tickets are 3 dollars each. Shah: We’re going to want a decent float with lots of smaller bills and coins too. Cicconi: That’s all I have, just make sure you’re coming at 5:30. Li: As a courtesy to people I am just going to send a mass email to people who have bought tickets telling them to bring cash.
8. Other Business Li: Just a question for everyone. Are we okay with the holiday card at the top and then the newsletter following? Everyone: Yes.
9. Adjournment – 1:27pm Motioned: Jeong Seconded: Shah Motion passes.

Jeong: Good evening everyone, it’s been a pretty busy month for the president’s
portfolio. I was fortunate enough to attend the Remembrance Day Ceremony on behalf of
WCSA. I’d like to thank our VP Finance and External for accompanying me to the
service. Additionally we have our Fall Convocation taking place on November 9th and I’d
like to take this opportunity to say congratulations to our newest alumni. We are also in
the process of hiring a CRO for the referendum to ensure that it is fair across the board.
Our VP Finance and I have met with Rouge Media to discuss charging station
implementation around the college. We want this installed and finalized before the new
semester that is upon us.
Humby: This month has been pretty busy for myself as well with answering questions
and coordinating with our Gala Coordinators. Beyond that just keep a look out for emails
from me in the coming days.
Xi: I was recently just ratified so I will definitely keep everyone in the loop about
upcoming things such as the possible TA strike.
Lall: Please come to puppy therapy on Friday!
Cicconi: We had our first social committee event last Friday, we had a lot of people come
through and the committee did an amazing job of planning and executing. Red Party is
coming up and I just have a few small details to take care of this week and then we’ll be
ready to go.
Aghaeinia: I posted the November equity committee meeting and I am currently
investigating an possible equity issue.
Gallant: I’ve mainly just been getting into contact with the WRC. I will most likely be
crashing their meeting tomorrow and I hope that we can promote WCSA events inside
the building. I have been in contact with Amanda in order to get my info up in the
residence lobby. I have also been in contact with a representative from a fitness group on
campus hopefully to get an event going at the beginning of next year.
Tu: I have recently tried to get feedback from students regarding our social media
because we are trying to get people from 89 Chestnut active within the Woodsworth
Community.
Shakil: I’d love to see everyone at WCSA Wednesday tomorrow so please come out
tomorrow! We are doing a TTC draw.
Dos Santos: Tomorrow is our weight room tutorial in the Athletic Centre. We also have a
martial art classes and our running class is meeting for the last time on Friday. I’ve just
been busy with intramurals and I’d love to see you all sign up!
Bhatia: Our PR Committee has been doing well and feel free to share events on your own
Facebook pages!

7) WCSA BoD Vacant Positions
Moved: Seconded:
BIRT the WCSA BoD appoint Michael Ridley to the Position of Mature Student’s
Director for the remainder of the 2017/18 year
Motioned: Shah Seconded: Jeong
BIRT the WCSA BoD appoint Marley Greenberg to the Position of First Year Student’s
director for the remainder of the 2017/18 year
Motioned: Xi Seconded: Jeong
Jeong: First I’d like to welcome all those who will be joining our Board within these
positions. The candidates will be given an opportunity to provide a speech to the board
explaining why they would like to run for this position and what exactly they bring to the
table, then we will do a vote.
Humby: We have one person for Mature Students Director, and 2 here for First year
Students’ Director. We have Cathy, Marley and Michael. So with that, we can begin with
the Mature Students’ Director Position.
Ridley: Hi everyone! My name is Michael Ridley and I am a 4th year mature student in
history and cinema studies. As a mature part time student who has school, family, and
work responsibilities. I am able to relate to many different students, and I know I will be
able to ensure the campus is inclusive for all. One of my plans for the year is to create a
CCR recognized program uniquely tailored for mature students, similar to the blue-print
program – designed for transitional learning and learning about things available to us on
campus. I feel as though I am prepared from my other various roles on campus. I have
gained a wealth of knowledge that I hope to translate to the WCSA community.
Jeong: Thank you Michael!
Humby: So moving on we can move towards our first year candidates.
Marley: I am in my first year and I would like to major in Health Studies. I am in the
Woodsworth One program and I really love how it gives me a sense of community and I
get to meet a lot of other first year students and that’s why I would love to bond with
other first years through this position. I would love to plan some first year events and to
work with the upper year portfolios as well. I was extremely involved in high school and
I am starting a diabetes club on campus as well. I’d love to contribute here to WCSA!
Cathy: I am currently first year in Rotman Commerce, and I also participated in
orientation this year. During o-week I gained a lot of friends however I would love to
continue the development for first year students and raise awareness for opportunities for
us on campus. I recently joined the PR committee; WCSA is a family that I want to be
apart of. I have a lot of teamwork experience that I would love to provide to this team!
Jeong: If everyone could put their heads down so we can vote that would be excellent.
Badiola: Thanks everyone! We have voted in Michael for Mature Students Director and
Marley for First Year Students Director.
Motion passes.
8) Referendum Committee Updates
Draft Question
“The Woodsworth College Students’ Association is seeking consent from its members
for an increase to its fee. The proposed increase is $5 per fall and winter sessions (full
and part-time) and $5 for summer session (full and part-time).
If the increase is approved, the total fee for the Woodsworth College Students’
Association would be $12.50 per fall and winter session (full and part-time) and $20.00
per summer session (full and part-time) and would be charged to all Woodsworth College
undergraduate students beginning in the fall 2018 session.”
BIRT the WCSA BoD hold a fee increase referendum vote to increase Fall/Winter fees
(full-time and part-time) by $5 per term and by $5 for the Summer session (full-time and
part-time).
Motioned: Humby Seconded: Sahwney
Jeong: The referendum committee has met multiple times over the course of this
semester, to discuss this matter. We decided on the amount. But essentially Rohan
figured out that we need to increase our student fee before we run into a deficit within the
next few years. We decided that 5 dollars in increases across fall, winter, and summer
would suffice. On the week of February 5th we will start voting. In terms of motivation
behind the increase, Rohan will discuss that next.
Shah: Over the course of our meetings we had to find a denomination that would satisfy
the needs of the students so we are able to accurately represent them. In order to
accommodate our growing portfolios and increasing events – we decided that 5 dollars
would be the minimum. This is open for discussion so we are all on the same page going
forward.
Shakil: I think it’s just important for everyone to understand that everyone really knows
how important that this increase is for future boards going forward.
Humby: Currently we are the largest student body on campus and we definitely need
student fees that support this.
Shah: We are increasing part time and full-time student fees mainly because we have the
largest part time population on campus.
Jeong: Do we think that the amount and timeline is appropriate?
Collectively yes.
Motion passes.
9) Board of Directors’ Office Hours
BIRT the WCSA BoD are required to serve a minimum of one hour of office hours per
week instead of two.
Moved: Jeong Seconded: Sheikh
Jeong: According to our Board Members responsibilities is that we are available to our
student body. In order to do this we must complete two hours of office hours every week.
Given that we have over 30 board members, I though it would be wise to reduce the
hours. This doesn’t necessarily mean that we are closing ourselves off to the students,
however I just think that 60 hours is excessive.
Sheikh: I agree with this, as busy students this would be a good move. We also have
many other means in which they can reach us at.
Gallant: So is it a minimum of 1 hour or is that a cap?
Jeong: You can do as many as you want; however 1 is the minimum.
Marley: Are the hours publicized?
Humby: They will be posted once everything is settled and decided upon.
Motion passes.
10) Charging Station
Jeong: We met with Chelsea from Rouge Media, as well as the Deans Office and
Christina and we have collectively decided it’s a good idea. The charging stations
essentially has a screen of advertisements for 4 minutes and 30 seconds of that will be
WCSA advertising. We are working with them to decide how we will censor anything
that may be inappropriate. The first locations we are thinking of is the space between
Second Cup and the old computer lab, the mezzanine of Kruger Hall, Kruger itself,
and Mini Kruger. I’d love to hear everyones thoughts on this.
Shakil: So there will be 4 stations?
Jeong: We are thinking two to start and then we will increase.
Gallant: Do you think we could move some towards the other end of the college too?
Jeong: Although these are only suggestions I think that’s a great idea.
Shah: The Company will put in as many stations as we want the only issue is having
enough outlets.
Sawhney: Is it possible to have one near the registrar? It might be a good option as
well.
Jeong: We can definitely look into that so please keep sharing your ideas with me.
11) Other Business
Jeong: We will be having a retreat in January so everyone has a chance to submit their
availability so if anyone has any other ideas just let me know!
12) Adjournment – 7:57pm
Motioned: Jeong Seconded: Xi
Motion passes.

Vice President of Financial Affairs
Hey Woodsworth! There aren't any significant updates in the last week since our previous
board meeting as it has been busy due to the upcoming finals. Red Party was a successful
event and we're going to continue working towards bringing charging stations to the
college in the New Year. Good luck on your exams and happy holidays!
Vice President of Social Affairs
Hey Woodsworth!
It has been a very busy month for the social portfolio. We were busy finishing the final
details for Red Party, which included finalizing the venue, caterer, furniture rentals, and
alcohol purchasing.
On December 1st, 12 hosted WCSA’s annual Red Party, which generated $1345.00 in
ticket sales, and was almost completely sold out! We had a great turnout, and had
excellent feedback from students. Thank you to everyone who helped out with the event
and made it a success.
Good luck to everyone on exams and happy holidays!
Vice-President of External Affairs
Hey Woodsworth,
External portfolio has been able to achieve quiet a lot this semester in terms of engaging
our student population and we cannot wait to introduce all the exciting events and
initiatives that we have planned for next semester. We have requests for a number of
collaborations that we are very excited to be a part of in the upcoming year i.e.
Supporting Aboriginal Graduate Enhancement (SAGE) and Ciimaan/Kahuwe’yá/Qajaq
(CKQ), (the Centre for Indigenous Studies UofT), Tampon Tuesday, Table Top Gaming
Club and many more.
I would also like to thank everyone who applied for the individual initiative grant. We
will be releasing the results in the second week of January. Some of our students are also
interested in starting a new club for the upcoming year and I will be working with them
to introduce it to Woodsworth students.
One of our most popular events “the Multicultural fair” in collaboration with the Office
of the Dean of Students at Woodworth College is coming up in January and we are
looking for cultural organizations that would like to be a part of this event. If you are
interested in tabling at this event please email me at [email protected]
I would like to wish all of you Goodluck on your upcoming exams and a safe and happy
holiday.
Best,
Haya Adil Sheikh
Vice-President of Athletic Affairs
Hey Woodsworth!
I hope you are all doing well during the month of December and finding some time to de-
stress and stay active. The Athletics Portfolio is planning some exciting events for the
winter semester, including a Raptors game, Work Out With Woodsworth events, Blue
Mountain ski trip, Super Bowl party and more.
Last month, the Athletics portfolio organized some Work Out With Woodsworth events
in collaboration with MoveU and UTTO. Those who participated in the yoga class,
weight room tutorial and martial arts class had a great time and learned some basic
exercises that will help them continue to work out. Keshini and I will be planning similar
events in January and we are looking to collaborate with other campus groups.
Fall intramurals have come to an end and I want to congratulate all the Woodsworth
athletes for a great season, especially those teams who made it to the playoffs and finals
in their respective leagues! Students can begin signing up for winter intramurals and
tournaments by completing the sign-up form on the WCSA website. The captains will be
attending the captains’ meetings this week and the schedules will be available soon. I will
be meeting with all the Woodsworth captains in January to discuss their responsibilities
and goals for the winter season.
Moreover, I met with the athletic representatives from the other colleges last week to
discuss our plans for the All-Star Basketball Game. We are all excited to organize this
inter-college event and will be looking for students to join the teams next semester.
Lastly, the sign-up form to enter the raffle for Toronto Raptors tickets will be available in
mid-December. Students can find more information on the WCSA website. Raffle
winners will be contacted in the beginning of January.
If you have any questions, concerns or suggestions, please feel free to contact me at
Good luck with your final assignments and exams! I wish everyone a joyful holiday
season and look forward to the new year!

First Year Director
We are planning to do a Kick Off to Second Semester on January. We thought to do it
probably during the third or fourth week of January. We have not decided specifically
what we will be doing but we did brainstorm some ideas. We currently have a name for
the event, January Jam! We planned to have music, raffles, games, food and drinks. This
event is more of like a social event where students can meet and connect with new
woodsworth friends. This event is focused towards the first-years but upper-year students
are also welcomed. We are planning to meet with Valerie in January after classes have
started to go over and confirm with some details.
Upper Year Students’ Directors
Hi folks,
Hope everyone's surviving exam season.
We haven't done too much since our last report. We had our dog therapy event last Friday
December 1, and that went really well. We had two handlers visit us with their dogs, and
we had students in and out of Waters Lounge for the full hour. We'll begin planning the
next dog therapy event in January.
At the time of writing, we're currently prepping for Cram Jam which is this Friday
December 8. We're happy to have the UTSU help us out with providing food.
We've received promotional content from The Princeton Review for the winter term, so
expect to see advertisements for different prep courses in the next little while.
Finally, we'll be starting to plan some TPR events for next term which can hopefully
cater to the broader Woodsworth community without being too redundant.
That's it for this month, and good luck with exams, y'all.
Ashley and Richelle
UTSU Woodsworth Students’ Directors
Hello my incredible Woodsworth Family!
Affairs at UTSU have been going well and have gotten quite tame as we move into the
exam period. At the last UTSU board meeting in November, a new V.P of University
Affairs was appointed, Adrian Huntelar, who has many awesome priorities that he would
like to take on in his new role, priorities you can check out on the op-ed published in The
Varsity. Other then this, UTSU committee elections just concluded with Max and I being
voted on as committee members of the Student Aid, Finance, Executive Review,
Outreach, and Bylaws and Policy committee. If you may have any questions on what
these committees are or what our role on them will be, please feel free to let us know.
Lastly, there will be coffee, tea, and other snacks as well as de-stressing activities
provided by UTSU at various libraries around campus beginning on December 7th at 12-
2am Robarts Library. For more details about where this will be and when, please feel free
to check out "UTSU's Got You" Facebook page!
I wish all my Woodsworth family nothing but the very best during the upcoming exam
period, and happy holidays!!!
Mental Health Director
Just to clarify last meeting’s board report, MoStock UofT did not end up collaborating
with us, but instead I reached out to a few mental health advocacy groups on campus and
jack.org had instead collaborated with us at our WCSA Wednesday November-Themed
pancake event. I had a meeting with one of the executive members from jack.org to
discuss possible future collaborations, such as the tea workshop event I am organizing for
late January. The6tea is a Toronto start-up company that I have been talking to for
sponsorship. They have agreed to sponsor this de-stressing event with tea ingredients. I
am also planning to organize another event with Brazilian Relations. I have been in the
midst of talks with their Vice President, Rafaela.
Equity Director
Hi Woodsworth, I hope your exams are going great. The month of December has been
pretty slow for the Equity portfolio. I am still investigating a claim mentioned on the
previous report. Also, The New College student council's Equity Commissioner an I are
planning some collaborations coming next term.
International Students Director
Hi everyone!
Since our last board meeting, there has been little to add to my report. I’m still working
on getting in contact with a couple of student groups around campus to collaborate with
on events next semester. If you have any ideas for potential events or collaborations,
please email me at [email protected]!
Residence Director
Hey Woodsworth! I have had two main focuses this month: collaborating with the
Athletics portfolio and an on-campus club to arrange a work out with Woodsworth event
for the new year, and collaborating with the Woodsworth Residence Council (WRC).
I have been in contact with an executive level member of the club UofT Iron
sports and they seem to be interested in hosting an introductory fitness event as a part of
our Workout with Woodsworth event series. The event would be geared towards showing
participants the basics of using equipment at the gym, proper form and leading a healthy
life style. I hope to hold the event right at the start of the new semester, so people can
keep up their fitness based new year’s resolutions!
As for the WRC, I had a meeting with the WRC president and the head of the
WRC operations committee on December 6th where we discussed possible future
collaborations between WCSA and the WRC. I am planning on getting more involved
with their organization by attending their bi-weekly meetings and joining a few of their
committees so we can collaborate on future initiatives. I am confident that collaborating
with them will help both of our organizations better serve the Woodsworth student body.
In the next month, I am hoping to start some sort of weekly event in collaboration
with the WRC such as a weekly sports night where Woodsworth students can watch
Hockey night in Canada in the waters lounge or something along those lines. Also, I am
hoping to get the WRC operations committee involved in our charging station initiative
to potentially get one of those charging stations installed in the lobby of Woodsworth
residence. Finally, as I mentioned before, I am planning on organizing the first workout
with Woodsworth event for the new year in collaboration with the Athletics portfolio and
UofT Iron sports.
Happy Holidays everyone!!!
