• Have more time and space to deepen their learning, especially in the transition years (i.e. P3, P5,).
• Better enjoy the process of learning and develop dispositions for lifelong learning.
Changes aim to help our students:
Which assessments would be counted? How are the various assessments weighted?
• Assessment serves to support students’ learning, gauge their progress, and address learning gaps.
• There will still be assessment (class tests, projects, presentations), and these are no different from current practices.
• Even with the removal of mid-year examinations for some levels, teachers will continue to assess their students.
• Parents will be kept informed of the child's progress.
How will I know about my child’s progress?

Moral character enables us to treat others and
ourselves with respect and care - and ensures that we
use ethical means to achieve our performance goals.
Performance character is needed to enable us to
achieve our highest potential in any performance
context.
Performance Character
Through stories, parables, letters, tag lines, talks, we explicitly teach our students to:
• Be Resilient in the face of setbacks and adversity• Persevere, Press On and Not Giving Up in Pursuing Lifelong Passion (Grit)• Set Stretch Goals• Engage in Responsible Decision Making• Practise Delayed Gratification• Set a Higher Ceiling and Threshold (Breaking their Mental Barriers)• Believe that There Is Value in Working Hard (Life Will Not Give You a Gold
Medal For Doing Nothing)• Adopt a Growth Mindset (the belief that we can all improve with effort)• Be Well Prepared (I Can Sleep While The Wind Blows)• Have Self Efficacy (Tests of Life, Not a Life of Tests)
Performance Character
What Can You Do?
• Support and partnership of parents are crucial in realising these changes.
• Parents can play a part to encourage Joy of Learning, and Learn for Life.
Encourage Joy of Learning!
Encourage Joy of Learning by
• not over-emphasising academic performance
• focus on your child’s learning journey, rather than compare them to others
Give our children the time and space to deepen learning
School Home Partnership
