Pentecost Sunday Theme: “Holy Spirit, Come.”

Today is the feast of PENTECOST. It is the day when we recall the coming of

the Holy Spirit to the apostles. Jesus had promised His friends that He would

send them the Holy Spirit, to be with them always. He would be their Helper,

their Comforter. He would be a true Friend to them.

We too, have received the Holy Spirit. First, when were baptized, then at our

Confirmation. The same Holy Spirit has come to live in us. In our celebration today, there is a spe-

cial prayer which sings the praises of this special friend. You will have noticed that today, after the

second Psalm which we used to pray after the first reading. But today, it is a little different. It is

called the Sequence. Some of you may have read the text in your Missal. Others may not have it. I

will tell you about this beautiful prayer. As I speak the words, in your hearts make it a prayer of

praise to the Holy Spirit, our friend.

First, the Holy Spirit is called “the Lord of light.” And we ask Him to give us light. We all need

light in our life. To see the way where we are going. The things to do and those not to be done. The

right choices to make. The proper decisions to take. Let us pray: LORD OF LIGHT, LIGHT OUR

WAY AS WE GO.

“FATHER of the poor”: in some way or another, we are all poor. We are all in need of God’s bless-

ings. In need of what the prayer asks for: “treasures which endure”. This is what we want: good

things that will last, that we cannot lose. Things that cannot get spoiled or stolen, like: love, happi-

ness, peace, etc. We ask the Spirit together: “Father of the poor, come with treasures which endure.

“Best consoler.”.We all have our problems. We meet with disappointments. We had hope for some

good thing, and we did not get it. We have failed in what we were trying to do. We have lost our

job. A friend has left us. We need consolation. He, the Spirit, is the “best consoler”. We ask Him:

“BEST CONSOLER, BRING US YOUR OWN CONSOLATION.”

Domingo de Pentecostés Tema: "Espíritu Santo, ven.”

Hoy es la fiesta de PENTECOSTES. Es el día cuando recordamos la venida del Espíritu Santo a los

apóstoles. Jesús les había prometido a sus amigos que les enviaría el Espíritu Santo para estar con

ellos siempre. Él sería su Ayudante, su Consolador. Él sería un verdadero amigo para ellos.

Nosotros también, hemos recibido el Espíritu Santo. Primero, cuando fueron bautizados, luego en

nuestra Confirmación. El mismo Espíritu Santo ha venido a vivir en nosotros. En nuestra celebra-

ción de hoy, hay una oración especial que canta las alabanzas de este amigo especial. Lo habrán

notado hoy, después del segundo Salmo que estamos acostumbrados a orar después de la primera

lectura. Pero hoy, es un poco diferente. Se llama la secuencia. Algunos de ustedes pueden haber

leído el texto en su Misal. Otros pueden no tenerlo. Te contaré acerca de esta hermosa oración.

Mientras hablo las palabras, en sus corazones hágalo una oración de alabanza al Espíritu Santo,

nuestro amigo.

Primero, el Espíritu Santo es llamado "el Señor de la luz." Y le pedimos que nos dé luz. Todos

necesitamos luz en nuestra vida. Para ver el camino a donde vamos. Las cosas que hacer y las que

no se deben hacer. Las decisiones correctas para hacer. Las decisiones correctas para tomar. Rece-

mos: SEÑOR DE LA LUZ, LUZ NUESTRO CAMINO A MEDIDA QUE VAMOS.

PADRE de los pobres ": de una forma u otra, todos somos pobres. Todos necesitamos las bendicio-

nes de Dios. En la necesidad de lo que pide la oración: "tesoros que perduran". Esto es lo que quere-

mos: cosas buenas que durarán, que no podemos perder. Cosas que no pueden ser mimadas o roba-

das, como: amor, felicidad, paz, etc. Pedimos al Espíritu juntos: "Padre de los pobres, ven con teso-

ros que perduran.

Mejor consolador ." Todos tenemos nuestros problemas. Nos encontramos con decepcio-

nes. Teníamos esperanza de algo bueno, y no lo conseguimos. Hemos fallado en lo que

estábamos tratando de hacer. Perdimos nuestro trabajo Un amigo nos ha dejado. Necesita-

mos consuelo Él, el Espíritu, es el "mejor consolador". Le preguntamos: "MEJOR CON-

"Invitado encantador": hay personas cuya visita disfrutamos

especialmente. Estamos felices cada vez que vienen a vernos. Y,

lo sentimos cuando se van. El Espíritu Santo es ese tipo de invi-

tado cuya venida nos trae felicidad. Pero, Él no quiere dejarnos.

Él es un invitado que permanece con nosotros. Y, Él no viene

con las manos vacías. Él nos trae un regalo precioso: la paz. Es

por eso que la oración le dice: INVITADO ENCANTADOR,

DERRAME A NOSOTROS TU PAZ REFRESCANTE "

"Dulce comodidad en el trabajo duro, agradable frialdad en el

calor". Nuevamente, la idea de la comodidad regresa. Esta vez,

le decimos al Espíritu que Él es nuestro consuelo en nuestro

trabajo. A veces, trabajamos duro; estamos cansados. Nos resul-

ta difícil continuar. Sentimos que no nos queda más fuerza. Y

hace tanto calor que nos sentimos débiles y sin energía para con-

tinuar. Podemos dirigirnos al Espíritu y decirle estas palabras:

"dulce consuelo en el trabajo, agradable frialdad en el calor, ven

en mi ayuda".

"Consuelo en medio de la pena". Solace es nuevamente una es-

pecie de consuelo, especialmente cuando estamos tristes y de-

cepcionados. Cuando estamos molestos y preocupados. Es alivio

Esto es lo que hace el Espíritu Santo: nos trae alivio cuando es-

tamos preocupados, con el corazón roto, sufriendo de alguna

manera. ¿Quién de nosotros no necesita este Amigo especial en

esos momentos? Digámosle: SOLACE EN MEDIO DE AY,

TRAE ALIVIO PARA MÍ ".

Estas son las alabanzas al Espíritu Santo que encontramos en

esta hermosa oración. Pero, sabes tan bien como yo sé, que a

menudo vamos a nuestros amigos para pedirles ayuda. Habla-

mos de sus cualidades, sí, pero también acudimos a ellos por sus

habilidades ... Es lo mismo con nuestro Amigo especial, el Espí-

ritu Santo. Continuamos pidiéndole que nos brinde ayuda. Le

pedimos regalos de diferentes tipos. Solo unos pocos: "Sana

nuestras heridas, renueva nuestra Fuerza, lava las manchas de

culpa, guía los pasos que se extravían"

Puede que no recuerde toda la oración, pero algunas palabras

deben haberlo tocado. Podrías usarlos de vez en cuando, para

saludar y alabar a tu Amigo especial, el Espíritu Santo. Él es el

invitado permanente en tu corazón. Feliz Domingo de Pente-

costés para todos.

“Delightful guest”: there are people whose visit we espe-

cially enjoy. We are happy whenever they come to see us.

And, we are sorry when they leave. The Holy Spirit is that

kind of guest whose coming brings happiness to us. But, He

does not want to leave us. He is a guest who remains with

us. And, He does not come empty-handed. He brings to us a

most precious gift: peace. This is why the prayer says to

Him: DELIGHTFUL GUEST, POUR ON US YOUR RE-

FRESHING PEACE”

“Sweet comfort in toil, pleasant coolness in the heat.” Again,

the idea of comfort comes back. This time, we tell the Spirit

that He is our comfort in our work. At times, we work hard;

we are tired. We find it hard to go on. We feel we have no

more strength left. And it is so hot, we feel weak and with-

out energy to go on. We can turn to the Spirit and tell Him

these words: “sweet comfort in toil, pleasant coolness in the

heat, come to my help”.

“Solace in the midst of woe.” Solace is again some kind of

comfort, especially when we are sad and disappointed.

When we are upset and troubled. It is relief. This is what

The Holy Spirit does: He brings us relief when we are wor-

ried, broken-hearted, suffering in any way. Who among us

does not need this special Friend in those moments? Let us

say to Him: SOLACE IN THE MIDST OF WOE, BRING

RELIEF TO ME”.

These are the praises to the Holy Spirit that we find in this

beautiful prayer. But, you know as well as I know, that often

we go to our friends to ask for their help. We speak of their

qualities, yes, but we also go to them because of their abili-

ties… It is the same with our special Friend, the Holy Spirit.

We continue to ask Him to give us help. We ask Him for

gifts of different kinds. Just a few: “Heal our wounds, renew

our Strength, wash away the stains of guilt, guide the steps

that goes astray”

You may not remember the whole prayer, but some words

must have touched you. You could use them from time to

time, to greet and praise your special Friend, the Holy Spirit.

He is the permanent guest in your heart. Happy Pentecost

many in Latin America and Caribbean, rural

terrain and a lack of ministers are obstacles

Congratulations to Our Children

May we ask our parish family to pray for and remember our children

who received their First Holy Communion on May 5th and May 12th

in our parish. May Jesus be present in their hearts and life always!

~~ Special Thanks ~~

We thank all the Catechists, Aides and Parents who served in our

Religious Education Program. Special thanks to Mrs. Linda Affa-

tato, the Director of our program. As the program comes to an end,

we remind students that it is important to continue to come to Mass

each week during the summer. If you are away on vacation, try to

look for a church so that you can attend Mass. Remember to take

time to pray each day and to continue to live your faith in all you do.

We are Proud of our Religious Education Students who participated

in the Lent Boxes for the Missionary Childhood Association , raised

$278.28. Thank you.

As Religious Classes end this year, we are already preparing for next

year’s classes.

to the program, continues at the parish office. We remind par-

ents that it is important that your child participate in Religious

Education for at least 8 years.
