When his daughter turned 2, this happy, healthy little girl with beautiful dark curly hair went for her normal immunizations. Later she developed a

fever as the doctor had said she might. However, her fever lead to other symptoms and within a few short weeks her hair began to fall out. She had devel-

oped an auto-immune disease. Greatly concerned, Greg sought out specialists and was told there was nothing they could do to change her condition. They

advised him to accept that his daughter’s health would never be normal and he would need to adapt their lives to this new reality. Greg, being and Engi-

neer, virtually locked himself in his office for 7 months researching medical databases for the root cause of this condition. He met with over 200 medical,

health and nutrition experts and developed a formula for his daughter.

Pure Water or Pure Hype?

We have the privilege of living in one of the wealthiest countries in the world. We enjoy massive consumer options, comforts, and luxuries. The very idea of ‘Filtering Water’ seems silly to some people, because, let’s face it, we have the best of everything – right? So what could possibly be wrong with our water? Some People tell me that ‘Because we live in the US, we have the best health care and the cleanest FDA water which meets very high standards. So they aren’t worried.’ And I can appreciate that sense of confidence that people have in our water sources! We are very fortunate to have treated water! With great healthcare and clean water, we probably live longer than people in other countries too. Right? Actually, the United Nations and the World Health Organization track that information, and they annually RANK every country in order of Mor-tality rates and Life Expectancy! With plentiful food, healthcare, and treated water, the US should be at the top. Right? Well, at least in the top 5? The Top 10? We’re not.

But before I tell you where the US ranks, let’s look at who IS in the top Top 5 Japan, Italy, Andorra, Singapore, and Hong Kong. Three of those top 5 are Asian countries. And the US? We’re # 35. After South Korea and Taiwan, among many others. With so many Asian countries ahead of us on this list, and Japan being #1, we might ask ourselves, ‘What do they know that we don’t’? There are many areas of differentiation between the way we live in the US and the way people live in Asian countries, but one of the biggest differences is in what we eat and drink. Asians have a significant awareness of their drinking water. They have developed filtration, Ionization, and Alkalinization systems to ensure that their water delivers maximum hydra-tion benefits, and filters out all of the junk. So, what’s in our water – that other people DON’T drink? This article is short, so I can’t possibly list all of the junk that the FDA currently allows into our drinking water. If you are reading this article, you’re aware of health issues and you might already know, so I’ll be brief;

• Dangerous Levels of Chlorine, Chlorimide, Chlorimine, and its byproducts. A chemical poison necessary to kill bacteria in our water, some scientists

argue that it is in fact more dangerous than the bacteria it is intended to kill.

• Fluoridation. This Toxic Industrial Waste product is referred to as ‘The greatest environmental health threat to the US’ by the international Non-Profit;

Fluoride Alert.org – a group of Doctors working to rid our water supply of Floride.

• Pesticides. Again with the poisons.

• And of course there are chemicals ranging from Arsenic to plastics,

• and a more recent addition: Pharmaceutical residue. Yes, people are flushing their meds.

Different States and Counties have differing levels of allowable contaminates, but – I’d rather drink zero contaminants thank you very much. ‘Alright’ you say. Tap water is awful, but this doesn’t affect me because I drink bottled water.’

Well, I’m afraid I have bad news. Over half of all Americans drink bottled water. Sales have tripled in the past 10 years, to a multi-billion dollar a year industry. This sales bonanza has been fueled by ubiquitous ads picturing towering mountains, pristine glaciers, and crystal-clear springs nestled in untouched forests yielding absolutely pure water. But is the marketing image of total purity accurate? Also, are rules for bottled water stricter than those for tap water? Again, I’m sorry to disappoint, but bottled water is not the answer to safe, clean water. The National Resources Defense Council has spent years watching and analyzing the Bottled Water industry, with particular concerns over the lack of regulation. Bottled water is not regulated at the same standards as Tap Water. The standards are LOWER. The NRDC has released their

updated report in July of 2014 and in most recent testing of hundreds of bottled water samples, a third of tested waters violated enforceable state standards for excessive Bacteria content and Industrial chemical content. The biggest problem with bottled water is the introduction of a new host of carcinogenic chemicals used in manufacturing of plastics. These chemicals leach into the water, creating a new threat to water quality. It might be important to note here that the FDA does not test bottled water on a regular basis. According to the NRDC, ‘The FDA’s Regulations for bottled water are much less stringent than Europe or Asian Countries. Our FDA standards for water quality, for both Tap Water and Bottled Water, is weaker than the World Health Organization guidelines. Hmmm. So where does this leave us? Water is the substance of life. If our water is poisoned, and bottled water is rarely better, where do we turn? How about looking back to the UN list of countries with the longest life expectancy and lowest mortality

rates. I will call them ‘the healthiest countries’. Janie Ross

“10 Amazing Facts About IMPaX Nutrition” By Ben Greenfield, NSCA-CPT, CSCS, MS, C-ISSN Sometimes it’s easy for us to become complacent,

or even ignorant, about what kind of pills and pow-

ders we consume on a daily basis. Sure, we know the

stuff is supposed to be “healthy” for us, but seldom

stop to wonder at the actual complexities of the

compound we’re consuming.

To help you understand what is going on inside

your body when you consume IMPaX nutrition, I’ve

chosen 10 amazing facts to share with you.

1. Spirulina Is A Total Package.

stop producing bile, which is essential for digestion,

and also lose our ability to filter many toxins through

One such compound is called “silymarin” which is

the active ingredient of milk thistle, which is an Ener-

the liver is dandelion root, another EnerPrime

stuff about something or other leaching out of the plastic and into the water. You know,” she paused briefly, “I gave up colas several years ago, but perhaps it’s time to relapse.” Cracking herself up, this comment was followed by her peals of laughter. “I hope you choose to avoid relapsing,” I said, smiling. “You already know that colas are loaded with sugar. A 12-ounce can contains nearly 40 grams of sugar and, at 4 calo-ries per gram of sugar, that’s a hefty load of ‘empty calories.’ To say nothing of its being toxic to the brain.” “Well, there’s always orange juice and lemonade and apple juice,” Emily retorted. “Just because a beverage is labeled ‘juice’ doesn’t mean the drink is not sugary. Unfortunately, in this country, our life expectancy is artificial and our last 10-15 years are not good. Obesity, diabetes and high blood pressure do no lead to a good old age! A few years ago a study was done in Eastern Europe. They followed people with extreme longevity – took blood tests and identi-fied what distinguished longevity versus all other (current day) average lifespan individuals including those who lived longer but experienced illness, disease and. What they found wasn’t smoking or drinking, eating habits or even exercise. The real distinguish-ing point was whether they had naturally high insulin levels or low insulin levels. Insulin was revealed to be the key factor in health and old age and also a key factor in areas we don’t look – take the group of apparently healthy individuals blood pressure, lipids, etc. all tested within normal range. This group was followed for 13 years. It was determined that the group had the lowest levels of insulin or highest level of insulin sensitivity level had the lowest levels of coronary heart disease. Those with the worst insulin sensitivity had the highest lvel of coronary heart disease.

Insulin sensitivity refers to how effective insulin is at disposing of glucose from blood, e.g. 2 individuals both with fasting blood sugar, say normal of 90, both have roughly same rate of increase blood sugar after a meal. The one controls blood sugar with one-half the insulin than the other . The one who uses little insulin to control is ‘insulin sensitive’. The one who uses a lot of insulin to control blood sugar is ‘insulin resistant’. This does NOT include diabetics, but those who appear to be normal and healthy. They discovered a random group of apparently healthy individuals, 25-30% will have most insulin resistance and will have serious risk of coronary heart disease! This tells us insulin is NOT your friend! Inflammation - the way to regulate blood sugar has a large role in how much inflammation generating directly to the arter-

ies.” Cary: “A recent study determined people in high normal range for blood sugar also had greater risk for cognitive decline.” Dr. Dallas Clouatre: “What people refer to as Alzheimer’s is actually diabetes type 3! Discovery was made if the body has poorly regulated blood sugar, it also affects the brain. If one has a lot of blood sugar in the system – you will have a depressed amount of glucose getting into the brain. Brain runs on glucose – because insulin influences circulation into the brain (even high normal blood glucose level) because of insulin being used to regulate and influ-ences the circulation into the brain – little is getting into the brain. If glucose is not getting into the brain, processes don’t work right.” Cary: When you have proper insulin sensitivity – weight regulates itself – a key factor in maintaining ideal weight. Dr. Dallas Clouatre: “Insulin is a storage hormone. Insulin regulates fat storage – so ‘wear it rather than use it’ applies. High insulin levels inhibit your ability to use fat: your ability to metabolize fat for fuel.” This results in low energy levels. Also what is hunger level? The real regulator for hunger is insu-lin. If having to count calories and portion control to maintain weight, it’s probably an insulin issue.
