III. PROCEDUREPreparatory ActivitiesA. DRILL: Flash Cards

Direction: Change the following percent into its decimal form.20% 9% 78% 43%3% 99% 1% 100%

B. REVIEWDirection: Identify the Base, Percentage and Rate in a problem.1. Dina wanted to buy a Volleyball. She went to the store and saw that it is on sale. Its original price

is 920 Php at a 15% discount and so she saved 138 Php.2. Jim got 68 points in a Math quiz of an 80 item test. His score is 85% of the total number of the

quiz.3. The Basketball team won 64% of its games. The got 32 wins out of 50 games.4. 50% of the cats in the pet shop was sold last month. Out of 150 cats, only 75 is left.5. 85% of the apples were given to the orphans by the sponsors. 170 apples were distributed and the

D. PRESENTATIONNicko and Nicka are mango trees. They live in the wild where all the trees live in peace. They

live happily and contented as they hear the birds sing their favorite music and watch wild animals play all day. One morning, people came with their chainsaws. Using the machines that they have in their hand, one by one, Nicko and Nicka’s family was cut down. Their trunks and branches were placed in the truck leaving their leaves and twigs on the ground. E. DISCUSSIONComprehension Check:

Who are the main characters of the story?Where do they live? What happened to them as people came to their habitat? Are trees important? Why?

What is asked in the problem? What are the numbers given in the problem? Is the number the Rate? Base? Percentage?Which among the three is missing in the selection? What is the number sentence to be used in the selection?

Page 2: MATH LP

How can we find the percentage in the problem with the Rate and the Base provided?- We change the rate into its decimal point and multiply it with the base.

A varsity player is given a monthly allowance of 1,500 Php. If 15% of this amount is put into his trust fund, how much is transferred to his trust fund every month?*picture here as shown in the slideshow presentation*

Multiply the base (1,500) to .15 and the answer is 225 Php.
