30, even 40+ years. In this world of overexposure and sensory overload,

indie stores have proudly assumed the position of tastemaker for our

customers. Booking a CIMS Marketing program allows you to tap into

the bond between store and customer, truly setting your titles apart

from the rest of the pack.

2018 brings some exciting changes to our CIMS Marketing programs.

You’ll obviously notice fresh, new branding throughout, but the two big-

gest changes we are most excited about is the introduction of our CIMS

Store Apps that will feature CIMS marketing on their homepages AND

the addition of vinyl included in our program buy-ins! And that’s not even

the best news -- the best news is that we’ve been able to add these valu-

able features without drastic price increases. In fact, you may not even

notice any price increases at all, because program prices have practically

stayed the same. Although what you will notice is streamlined program

options, increased features and value, and well thought out branding.

We are ecstatic to add these elements to our already featured packed

programs and we truly believe we offer the most diverse and impactful

marketing programs in the Indie sector.

On and Under the Radar have been merged

with In the Groove into one program, com-

bining CD and Vinyl with multiple level buy-

in options. This new, all encompassing pro-

gram is known as In the Groove.

Required vinyl buy-ins are now a part of our

In the Groove, CIMS Recommended, and

CIMS Handpicked programs with the ex-

ception of our Copper Level In the Groove

option -- it does not include vinyl. Programs

with this option are annotated with a vinyl

icon.

All CIMS Marketing programs, excluding

P&P and the Copper level of In the Groove,

will be featured on our stores’ app homep-

ages. Programs with this option are anno-

tated with a smart phone icon.

App customers will receive a monthly push

message directing them to check out fea-

tured new releases on their phone where

they can preview tracks, add titles to a wish

list, and even purchase direct from the app

for most CIMS stores.

There is a $110 promo shipping fee per title

on all programs unless otherwise noted.

A FEW NOTES

We have a Spotify playlist feature on multi-

ple programs that is either included as part

of the program or can be added for a small

fee. Programs with this option are annotat-

ed with the Spotify logo.

We are now offering a 2nd month option to

extend your promotion for more than just

the standard month. You can choose to do

P&P at a greatly discounted rate OR you can

extend the full program in to the second

month at a reduced rate and reduced buy-

in. Programs with this option are annotated

with a 2nd month starburst.

nyl program and you’d be correct – there is

vinyl involved. Only now we’ve merged 3 of

our top Marketing Programs (On the Radar,

Under the Radar and In the Groove ) into

one -- Meet the new and improved In the

Groove, now with a required vinyl buy-in!!

In the Groove is the cornerstone of our Mar-

keting efforts and features a listening booth

in ALL CIMS member stores, but now we’re

also putting a listening booth in every cus-

tomer’s pocket with the introduction of our

Store Apps. Each CIMS member store now has their own branded app available in the

Apple and Google app stores, and each store app features CIMS Marketing programs front

adding a required vinyl buy-in to our program that will be auto shipped monthly from AEC,

Love everything about our Recommended

program, but short on funds? We took a lot

of what you love about the Recommended

program and scaled it down to a more bud-

get friendly option. With Handpicked you’ll

get the social media promotion, the app,

the email blast, the website exposure and,

most importantly, you’ll also get the store’s

endorsement to their customers. Hand-

picked titles earn a slot in our In the Groove

program, but we’ve reduced the buy-in to

4 units per store of CD and 1 unit of vinyl per store. Additionally, Handpicked titles get

prominent online and in-store positioning, large displays, inclusion in our Spotify playlist

and in-store play. You’ll also receive 2 weeks of P&P post promotion to cover your title for

a total of 6 weeks of promotion. This program is a wonderful value for anyone looking for

– we pull out every trick in our book and

leverage every bit of influence we have to

promote your release in every CIMS mem-

ber store. Given the number of CD’s bought

solely based on employee recommenda-

tions at CIMS stores, this program is price-

less. Large, creative displays are installed

in prominent locations within each CIMS

member store and the title is sale priced

throughout the promotion. Stores reach out

to their customers through social media,

their mobile app, email blasts, and websites

to further promote Recommended titles and a track from the album will be added to our

In the Groove Spotify playlist as well as daily in-store play in all of our stores. Additionally,

when you book the Recommended program you’ll receive a slot in CIMS’ In the Groove

listening booth program at the Platinum level and you’ll also receive 4 weeks of P&P post-

ITG program, rounding out a full 2 months of promotion. It’s truly the best bang for your

Headbanger’s Wall caters to our Metal/

Hardcore/Punk/Glam/Goth fans out there.

The Metal genre as a whole has proven to

be a VERY physical genre and our stores

are where these devoted fans come to shop.

The Headbanger’s Wall program features

most all of the highlights of our other listen-

ing booth based programs, but it also comes

with a little bonus that the other listening

booth programs don’t have – a custom de-

signed web banner that features every HBW

title and is used on our store’s email blasts

and websites. The Headbanger’s Wall pro-

gram has also been refreshed with the new app features so customers can check out tracks

from our featured titles from anywhere they please. For maximum impact on all your metal

genre titles, Headbanger’s Wall is for you.

The Homegrown program focuses squarely

on Americana/Folk/Blues/Bluegrass/Sing-

er-Songwriter/Roots and all musical sounds

Our Outside the Heard e-mail has been re-

branded as Now Hear This! With a fresh new

look, each month Now Hear This features

titles in a specially branded e-mail blast cre-

ated by CIMS HQ that is distributed to all

CIMS stores. Each store then sends to the

email to their own individual email blast list

(well over 150K opt-in subscribers total).

The email features custom reviews of each

album along with artwork and a link to “Lis-

ten Now!” to a Now Hear This Spotify play-

list featuring one track (chosen by the label)

from each NHT title. The Spotify playlist can

be followed and shared directly from Spotify. Participating titles will be sale priced and

branded in the stores as well with Now Hear This bincards. Additionally, CIMS stores will

automatically receive 2 units of each title from AEC auto-fulfilled each month. And now,

Now Hear This will also be featured on the homepage of our store apps!

The Now Hear This email will also feature our Recommends and Handpicked titles as well

as a click-through to each month’s listening booth titles.

Introducing our newest addition to pro-

grams for 2018, our mobile only program –

The Play List. This program is featured only

on our store’s apps (no in store listening

booth – just the one that’s in your pocket!).

Every CIMS store has their own app avail-

able in the Apple and Google app stores.

Imagine the opportunities for exposure di-

rect to music CONSUMERS!! App users will

be able to preview tracks from the album,

read a custom written review as well as view

video content (if provided by label), and

each title will receive a slot in a custom de-

signed rotating banner on the app homepage. Additionally, customers will receive a push

message at the start of each month with a deep link to the program directing them to

check out this month’s featured releases in our Play List. Titles can be added to wishlists

and even purchased directly from the app. Titles booked into The Play List are sale priced

and positioned in our stores with designated Play List bincards and stores will receive an

auto shipment from AEC of 2 units per store, per title for this program. The Play List pro-

gram runs for 4 weeks and can be booked to start at any Friday street date. Yes, you read

that correctly, this program is flexible (woohoo!).

Our basic price and positioning program guarantees you out of bin positioning and sale

pricing for the promotional period in ALL CIMS member stores. While this program does

not have a specified required buy-in or an auto-shipment from AEC, stock is required for

the promotion. This program can be booked by the week, making it a great option for brief

promotions or as a supplement to one of our monthly programs in order to be sure you’re

covered on street date. “On Sale” bincards are provided to our stores to further highlight

these titles and make displays more eye catching and attractive. Exact positioning varies

store to store but some examples include endcaps, new release walls, over bin and water-

falls.

Popping in a particular market? Rather focus on growth in specific regions? Or is your artist

touring and you want to make sure product is positioned in Tour Markets? Regional P&P

is for you. Budget friendly, this program allows you to pinpoint CIMS stores by Region and

focus your promotional efforts in that area only. The program runs in two week increments

and stock is required for the promotion. The title is sale priced and positioned out of bin

during the promotional period with designated “On Sale” bincards. You have the option

to choose from 7 different zones (Northeast, Southeast,South, Pacific West, West, Central

Plains, and Midwest) all with their own unique indie record stores. Please refer to the map

and the list to the right for each Zone and the indie stores that lie within them.

Did you know you have the ability to extend your promotion in CIMS when booking

one of our booth based Marketing programs?! When you book In the Groove, Head-

banger’s Wall, Homegrown, Now Hear This, Recommends or Handpicked you can

extend your marketing into the following month with P&P at a greatly reduced rate.

Supplemental National P&P is available for $125 per week ($500 per month) when

booked in combo with one of the above programs. You can also use supplemental

P&P to cover yourself for street date prior to the start of a booth based program.

Additionally, if you’d like to extend your booth based program into the next month

we can offer a 20% discount on the subsequent month. Booking multiple months

ensures maximum sell through on your titles and is a great option for albums with a

long lifespan or albums that just need a little more time to build.
