Ms. Monette has already been working directly with the students providing them with counseling services, therefore this will be an easy transition for the whole academic community. Included in her additional tasks is the oversight on the daily goings-on of the main campus. However, Ms. Monette still remains responsible for research and development, and will continue to provide counseling to the faculty, staff, and students in both campuses. Congratulations, Ms. Monette!¨ Marians Gather for Annual Field Day On June 13 , Marian College held its th Annual Field Day at the park. It was an all-day affair and students, faculty, staff, administrators, and their guests from both campuses gathered in one of the picnic areas along Crystal Springs Drive in Griffith Park, Los Angeles, which is the country’s largest municipal park with urban wilderness area. Like many field days past, the different classes spread out their picnic fare on their tables, and everyone was invited to drop in and share what each class had to offer, which was naturally a multi-cultural mix of food and beverages. Besides the sampling of food, there were other activities and games. Group games were played, which helped foster a camaraderie between students of both campuses. Of course, the highlight of the day was when Ryan David D. Tanglao of Van Nuys and Dexcelle L. Camins of Los Angeles won the Mr. & Ms. Marian titles respectively. It was a very carefree day and the weather was perfect with lots of sunshine and the right amount of breeze to keep everyone cool and content. Everyone was afforded a break from the rigors of lectures, tests, and clinical sessions, and you could tell that the students really welcomed it. The annual field day, as well as any campus-wide gathering, is also a fitting welcome gesture that all employees and students extend to the “newbies,” or the new students who just started classes early this year. Yes, this is the spirit of Marian College; come and share in our laughter and triumphs!¨ Los Angeles Campus students gathered for a photo with Miss Jo Anne.
