March 1, 2011

Recently, I met with the officers of the Pendleton Business Association and we discussed our Get Linked Madison initiative. They love it.

Later that week I was invited to participate as a board member of the Alexandria/Monroe Chamber. They like our new mission. Back in November, the Elwood Chamber “got linked” at our regional expo and they want in. What do we all have in

common? Madison County.

Enter Mad9. Mad(ison)9 is a partnership of nine Madison County organizations with the common mission of realizing a positive vision for the future of our business community and region.

Mad9 will set the standard of relationship building beyond boundaries by helping businesses and civic leaders connect, communicate, and create commerce. The partnership’s first initiative is to connect business and civic leaders once a month around the county (north, south, east and west). It’s called

the Mad9 Mixer. Each month, a new city or town. Each month, new commerce for

that region. Each month, a new opportunity for dialogue, relationship building, and, of course, dog-and-pony shows.

What will come of this? Great question. We have a few ideas on the whiteboard…

Experience Madison. Imagine bringing businesses from around the region to meet you and your fellow colleagues at a mini expo. For example, a taste of Elwood or Anderson. More exposure to our individual cities and towns, but create unity as a county.

Regional Links. Perhaps while in Alexandria we invite Muncie down for a visit and connect our two business clusters. Why not expand our footprint and allow them to do the same?

Hot Topics. We have a few on our plate right now. Perhaps Mad9 can help facilitate dialogue between private and public sectors?

Whatever the outcome, this we know: we all have common ground, so let’s start building on it.

Connecting Business. Creating Commerce.

Put your business in the hands

of 800 plus decision makers for only $199. You print it and fold it, we’ll mail it. Save on cost of mailing through this unique, shared medium.
