II. Product Description

LubriMist® auto drain leg assembly is equipped with a two-gallon reservoir made from stainless steel and with standard monitoring/control features such as oil level gauge, filter/regulator, pressure gauge, diaphragm pump, and pneumatic level switch. A complete system installation includes auto drain leg assembly, drain leg manifold with visual sight glass and manual push button valve, and interconnecting piping/tubing. Only instrument air supply is required for operation.

LubriMist® auto drain leg system is designed to collect and to reuse the oil

accumulated at the low point trap in the oil mist header piping layout. The low point trap is created as a result of elevation changes in the header layout where a continuous slope back to the mist generator is not possible. For example, when the header pipe crosses an access road, the header is routed up, over, and down. The header pipe on the opposite side from the oil mist generator will have a low point trap and this is the location for an automated drain leg system. The collected oil is automatically pumped overhead back to a section of the main header where it can slope back to the oil mist generator.

III. Mechanical Operation Conditions

Normal regulated air pressure range: 40 - 60 Psig (2.8 – 4.1 Barg). Maximum instrument air inlet pressure: 125 Psig (8.6 Barg). Minimum instrument air inlet pressure: 80 Psig (5.5 Barg). Maximum fluid outlet pressure: 100 Psig (6.9 Barg). Air consumption: about 5 SCFM (8.5 NM3/H) @100 Psig (6.9 Barg). Operation frequency: Intermittent 2 - 3 Times Per Week; Duration: 5 – 10

Minutes.

IV. Installation The auto drain leg assembly is to be mounted against column structure at a

height of about 4 feet (1220 mm) from ground level using wrap-around braces or the drain leg can be bolted onto a mounting stand.

Mounting location should be near an instrument air supply source. Follow Typical Installation Detail Diagram to ensure all piping are

properly connected to the respective ports on the auto drain leg assembly. The drain leg manifold is to be mounted no more than 6 feet (1830 mm)

above ground level and at about 2 feet (610 mm) above the auto drain leg assembly. Operator must be able to reach the drain push button valve located on bottom of the drain leg manifold.

Ensure tubing line from the drain leg manifold is sloped toward the auto drain leg assembly.

Refer to oil transfer pump manual for proper grounding and other safety instructions.

VI. Commissioning

Ensure plugs have been installed in all connections that are not being used. Verify grounding to pump is done. Add an appropriate amount of oil about one gallon (3.8 Liters) to the

reservoir. Important: Test oil must be the same oil being used on the oil mist system.

Open the incoming air supply and oil return block valves. Unscrew the adjustment knob located on top of filter/regulator. Adjust

filter/regulator to achieve a regulated air pressure of 50-60 Psig (3.4 – 4.1 Barg).

Verify proper operation of pneumatic level switch and air operated pump. Turn the Operation Check Knob counter-clockwise to raise the float until the pump begins to operate. The arrow on the position indicator should be pointing upward.

Turn the knob clockwise back to its original position or to lower the float and pump should stop. The arrow on the position indicator should be pointing upward.

Visually check for oil leaks at all connections. Auto drain leg system is commissioned for operation.

VII. Routine Checks Check and replace broken or cracked sight glass on the drain leg manifold. Check drain leg manifold. If oil is collected in the drain leg manifold, just

manually push the button valve to drain the oil and to flush out any debris. Check mist pressure reading at the drain leg manifold. Pressure reading

should be about 20”WC (508 mm WC). Check proper air pressure setting at filter/regulator. Check and replace air filter element every 6 months. Check and replace broken or cracked pressure gauges. Check oil level in the reservoir. Oil level should not be full. Check operation of pump and pneumatic level switch. Check oil return line for blockage.

VIII. Troubleshooting Always make sure air and oil return block valves are open. If oil is visible in the drain leg manifold, manually push the button valve to

drain the oil and to flush out any debris. If mist pressure gauge reading is not stable, check for oil traps in nearby oil

mist header/drop piping. If reservoir is full with oil, check pneumatic level switch. If oil level float is raised and the pump does not operate, check pump.

Refer to pump manual for more details.
