2. Lesson 10 In this lesson we are going to study: Going to and Will Asking about future plans Talking about the weather 3. Be going to The be going to form is nothing but an auxilary, just as do. It means we are putting the sentence in the future. 4. Be going to But it's different from another future auxilary: will. They both help us to put the sentence in the future, but the main difference is... 5. Be going to The imperative is formed the same for all subjects (you, he, we, they), but you can include yourself in the imperative by adding "Let's," as in, "Let's go for a swim." 6. Be going to x Will The be going to form is used when you already have plans to something to happen, when you are sure about that fact. The will form is used when it's about something you aren't sure. It'll probably come together with expressions like I think, I guess, I suppose etc. 7. Be Going To Ex.: Eu acho que vou para Salvador I think I will go to Salvador. A ponte vai provavelmente cair The bridge will probably collapse. 8. Will Ex.: I am going to study English - Eu vou estudar Ingls He's going to play soccer next Saturday - Ele vai jogar futebol no prximo sbado. 9. What about you? What are your plans for the future? What are you going to do? Where are you going to live? 10. Exemplos Use 1) planned actions in the future We are going to sing at the party. 2) You are certain that sth. is going to happen in the future. Look at that car! It is going to crash into the yellow one. 11. How's/What's the weather like? 12. Exercise Let's talk about your future. First write about your plans for the weekend, and then write about your plans for a farther future: how and where do you see yourself in ten years?
