1.To ask the time in Italian we may use “Che ora è?” oppure “Che ore sono?”

2. In Italian the definite hour precedes the hour. Es: È l’una = It is one o’clock, Sono le due = It is two o’clock.

3. È is only used with one o’clock, midday and midnight; sono is used

with all the other hours.

4.The 24 hour system is used in Italy in official language, examples times of trains, theatre performances, hence 4 pm is translated sedici, at 11pm, alle ventitre
