STUDENT LEADERSHIP GROUP

THANK YOU!

The Linsford Park Parents' Association would like to extend a huge thank-you to those families that participated in our many fundraising events this year! These events included bottle drives, Mom's Pantry, World's Finest Chocolate sales, Popcorn sales, Healthy Snack, and Hot Lunch days. The money raised from these events helped reduce the cost to our students for many events, including LRC swimming lessons for Grades 1 and 2, field trip bussing, staff luncheon, Grade 6 grad party, Patrol party, ice cream day, and Alex pool rental for year-end. Much of the money raised this year also helps in planning special events for the upcoming school year. Your contribution helps foster a wonderful environment for our students and staff. Thank you again!

Special thanks to our Student Leadership group members who did an amazing job running the Playground Pals program and the polydot hallway activities! These successful programs will continue again in the fall!

Throughout this school year both Mind Up and Zones of Regulation programming have been used to help teach self regulation and emotional management. Parents are encouraged to use the same vocabulary and techniques of these programs at home.

Please see http://www.zonesofregulation.com/learn-more-about-the-zones.html.

School use of these programs will continue next year.

BE FIT FOR LIFE

We are excited to welcome leaders from Be Fit for Life to our school for the following three weeks. They will be running a club called GO Play; which is part of the Girls Play initiative. It is specifically for girls with the purpose to keep girls engaged and active throughout their lives. Any girls who attend 2 or more sessions will also get their names drawn for LRC passes.

Leduc Public Library is proud to

introduce our

Summer Learning Challenge 2018

MAD SCIENCE!

July 9th

-August 17th

It’s FREE! It’s FUN! and we offer something for kids of all ages and adults too!

Research shows that children can lose one to three months of learning every summer.

This is called the “Summer Slide”. You can help your kids keep learning in the summer

when you sign them up for our Summer Learning Challenge. We offer reading, hands-

on STEAM discovery and open-ended design challenges to keep kids’ brains working

over the summer.

At the Leduc Public Library, we believe summer learning is all about having fun,

discovering, creating and exploring. The library will be offering free programming and a

learning challenge for all ages with many fabulous prizes. We understand the summer

months can be a busy time and therefore our program is designed to be flexible, so all

families are able to attend at their convenience. The challenge will be drop-in without

registered times.

Our program will be lead by a BEd student, certified teacher and certified educational

assistant. Our goal is for children to develop a love of learning as we explore science

through exciting science themed activities, crafts, and books!

All Learning Counts! Reading for 20 minutes a day helps your child practice important

reading skills.

Mark your calendar to drop-by throughout the month of June for details or visit our

website at www.leduclibrary.ca or give us a call at 780-986-2637 for

more information. Registration will begin in late June.
