First Edition Showcase CD
The first Nova Scotia Country Music Hall of Fame CD includes music from 16 of our 91 current Inductees of the Nova Scotia Country Music Hall of Fame. With so many talented induc-tees, we are hopeful this will be an ongo-ing music project for years to come. Please support the work of the NSCMHF by pur-chasing your own copy of the CD. It will be available at the 22nd Annual NSCMHF Ceremony and Dinner on Sep-tember 15, 2018. The cost of the CD is $15.00

NSCMHF President Roger Bleasdale enjoyed catching up with 2014 Inductee Robert Bouchard in April at a show in Truro hosted by Dianne O’Brien.
Popular Nova Scotia fid-dler, Andrew Kent of Cheverie, NS, went home a big winner at the 69th Annual Maritime Fiddle festival in July. Andrew won the Open Class, Best Waltz, Best Reel, and also took home the coveted Don Messer Memorial Award.
2003 NSCMHF Inductee Carl Elliott was in the audience and enjoyed listening to his sons ‘The Elliott Brothers’ perform in Truro in early April.
NSCMHF congratu-lates Kevin Davison of Kentville, NS for his win at the 2018 ECMA Awards for Video of the Year.

bers and interested persons are invited to

NSCMHF Meetings
The NSCMHF Board of Directors meet every month. All NSCMHF members are welcomed and encouraged to attend our meetings. Please contact any of the Direc-tors to find out when and where our next meeting will take place.
The 2017-18 NSCMHF Board of Directors would like to thank all inductees, members and the public for ongoing support of the work the board continues to do to help promote and preserve interest in old time fiddling, country and bluegrass music. We en-courage nominations for induction into the Nova Scotia Country Music Hall of Fame. Nominations are open throughout the year until February. Thank you to all who put their name forward to serve on the Board of Di-rectors of NSCMHF.

Inductees News and Reviews...
Ivan Hicks, born in Upper Sack-
ville, NB July 6, 1940, was in-
troduced to music by his father
and played his first dance at age
six. Ivan is a graduate of Mount
Allison (1964) and University of
New Brunswick (1976). He had
a 32 year teaching career in Salisbury, NB and married fellow teacher,
Vivian Webb, who also became his piano accompanist. Ivan Hicks
works to promote and preserve old-time fiddling globally. He teaches
the art of fiddling to all ages and is active in workshops and music
camps. Ivan has many recordings, books of original compositions and
performs at many concerts. Bands formed were Golden Valley Boys
1950’s, Marshwinds 1969-1989, Maritime Express 1979 – 2000’s, and
most recently, Sussex Avenue Fiddlers. Achievements include, Mari-
time Fiddle Champion 1979, 1980 and Canadian finalist, co-founder of
the Maritime Fiddlers Association 1981, New Brunswick Country
Music Hall of Fame President, Chairman of the Fiddlers of the World
in Halifax 1999, two Canadian tours 2000, 2002, ECMA award winner,
Canadian Grand Masters Fiddling Championship Lifetime Achieve-
ment Award 2007 Inductee of both the New Brunswick Country Music
1985 and North American Fiddlers Hall of Fame 1990, the Order of
New Brunswick 2014 and Honorary member of the NSCMHF 2004.
Judy McIsaac released her first solo album 'Looking Through My Eyes' in July 2017. The album was recorded at Marsh Brook Studios, Margaree, Cape Breton. Judy’s recording con-sists of 5 original songs. Four penned by Judy and one by her mother Ruth Zinck. Judy incorporated her original songs with 5 cover songs: 'Sea of
Heartbreak', 'You Ain't Goin Nowhere', 'Walking After Mid-night', 'Cowboy of Dreams' and 'Look What They Done to My Song Ma'. Judy's album receives airplay on radio stations around the province including 105.9 Seaside FM - Halifax, 99.3 QCCR - Queens Co., and CHFX FM Cheticamp. Judy McIsaac’s musical highlights included being a member of 'Sugartime', who were regular cast members of the popular 'Up Home Tonight' show which aired weekly on ATV/CTV. Judy also sang with her brother in the popular duo 'My Brother & Me' performing in and around the Halifax Regional Municipali-ty. Judy's versatile voice has lent itself to a variety of musical projects including recordings for radio and television.

With his cousin Wilf Carr and band members Murray Deal and Sheila Newman (Inducted 2017) Fred plays bass with the group Son Rise. This group performs at local nursing homes and churches. Fred also plays music with Bill Huey (Inducted 2012) and his wife Susan Huey at various local shows. Wittenburg Baptist Coffeehouse is fortunate to have Fred organize the line up of musicians for their monthly shows. Fred also writes the music column for Rural Delivery Magazine. Fred Isenor is obviously not one to slow down!

• To establish and maintain a permanent Nova Scotia Country Music Hall of Fame.
• To develop and promote public interest in old time fiddling, and country and bluegrass music in Nova Scotia.
• The preservation and the public display of artifacts and memorabilia of those inducted into the Nova Scotia Country Music Hall of Fame.
