    Chapter1.

     

    Product Information

    1. Package Contents

    The LectureMAKER package includes: 1 CD-ROM, 1 User Guide, and 1 Serial keycertification.

    Or you download trial version of LectureMAKER from website and request your serial

    key with Purchase Order.

    2. Product Registration & Activation

    In order to receive Daulsoft customer service benefits, you must register your purchase

    of this product. When you start your LectureMAKER program for the first time after

    installation, you are prompted to enter your Product Key.

    Before you enter a valid Product Key, you can run the software up to 30days as a trial

    version. After the trial using period, if you have not entered a valid Product Key, the

    software is expired.

    The Activation system automatically contacts the Daulsoft licensing servers through

    your Internet connection. If you are using a valid Product Key that has not already been

    used for the allowed number of installations, your product is activated immediately.

    Introduction

    LectureMAKER is E-Learning content authoring software which empowers anyone to

    create interactive lessons and activities that can be easily delivered in various ways

    based on the deployment requirements.

    With LectureMAKER subject matter experts or instructors can share their knowledge

    and expertise by developing and distributing a highly interactive, persuasive material.

    It allows saving the content in the universally accepted Flash format and the output can

    be SCORM compliant.

    1)  Master Slide

    Build a master slide to streamline creation of new slides. The master slide can contain

    all the elements you want in the individual slides, including motion buttons and design

    details.

    2) Multiple Editors

    Use LectureMAKER’s editing tools to create the exact graphic you need for your lesson.

    Popular options include text box, special characters, tables, formulas, shapes, and

    graphs.

    3) Variety of Multimedia

    Insert a variety of multimedia formats including pictures, video, sound, and flash files.

    For ease of use, multimedia files can be inserted directly into a large-capacity video

    link.

    4) Video Control

    Use a video clip as part of your lesson. If you wish, bookmark specific parts of the

    video clip to advance quickly to the area of interest. You can synchronize slide with

    video clip.

    2. Special Features

    1) Design and layout, Template

    LectureMAKER contains design and layout, as well as template. Use the template to

    quickly design teaching content. Template can be used to design almost any type ofcontent. Video, text and audio can be configured to work with the built-in template.

    Preset buttons are provided for contents, progress, and interactive learning.

    3) Dynamic Teaching

    By using webcam, microphone, audio and video recording, and the electronic board,

    you can create interactive electronic lessons.

    Install / Uninstall LectureMAKER

    LectureMAKER requires that your computer have the capacity to handle multimedia

    formats including sound, video, and flash.

    1) System Requirements

      CPU : Pentium III 500MHz or higher

      RAM : 512MB memory or higher (1GB recommended)

      HDD : Extra capacity of more than 300MB

      OS : Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7

      32-Bit Windows (x86) 2000 /XP /Vista /7

    Update the latest version Service Pack recommended

      64-Bit Windows (x64) Vista /7

    Need to install Windows Media Encoder 9 English version only

    2) Before you install LectureMAKER

      To install LectureMAKER, you need the LectureMAKER original CD and Serial

    Number. After installation, store disk and serial number in a safe place for future

    reference.

      Install Windows Media Encoder 9.0 before you install LectureMAKER.

      Install Windows Media player 9.0 or higher before you install LectureMAKER.

    3) To Install LectureMAKER (In case of Original LectureMAKER CD Install)

      Ensure computer is turned on.

      Insert LectureMAKER CD in to CD-ROM drive.

      AutoRun message appears.

      Click “Install” to start installation.

      Installation window appears. Click Next.

      LectureMAKER software license agreement appears.

      Read the agreement. If you accept the agreement, click Agree.

      Select the folder where you want to install LectureMAKER.

      It is recommended that you accept the default folder. To choose a different folder,

    click Browse. Click OK.

      Installation is in progress. Progress bar appears. When progress bar reaches 100%,

    the next step begins automatically.

      Installation is complete. Click Done.

    4) Product Registration

    To start LectureMAKER, select Start/All Programs/Daulsoft LectureMAKER. User

    registration window appears. Enter the product serial number. Click Submit.

    Once registration is complete, LectureMAKER starts.

    Remember

    If the program does not start automatically, select the CD drive-ROM, click

    SETUP.EXE.

    2. Uninstalling LectureMAKER (In case of Windows XP)

    1) From the Windows Start Menu, choose Control Panel. Select Program Add/Delete,

    LectureMAKER Uninstall, click Change/Uninstall.

    Note: Instructions vary depending on the OS. Please follow the uninstall instructions

    for your operating system. When asked if you want to completely remove the

    application, choose Yes.

    2) If asked, “Do you want to completely remove the selected application?”, click Yes.

    1) To start LectureMAKER

    On the desktop, double-click the LectureMAKER icon( ). Or from the Windows

    Start Menu, choose All Programs/Daulsoft LectureMAKER.

    2) To close LectureMAKER

    On LectureMAKER screen, find the LectureMAKER button ( ) and click

    onExit.( ). Or click the close window button in the top right-hand corner

    2. Screen Components

    LectureMAKER has a wide variety of authoring tools and configuration possibilities. 

    ①  LectureMAKER Button( ): Works like a File menu button. Use to access

    features such as New, Open, Save, Print, etc.

    ②  Quick Access Toolbar: Quickly access the most commonly-used items like

    Save, Undo Edit, Redo Edit, etc. Quick Access Toolbar can be added in the

    Options of LectureMAKER button.

    ③  Menu Bar: Shows the name of the current file.

    ④  Menu Control Button: Minimize, maximize or quit the window.

    ⑤  Ribbon Menu: Ribbon menu is consisted with six basic Tabs and temporary

    appeared Tabs when object is selected. Ribbon menu is minimized to make

    larger authoring space.

      Tab: Home, Insert, Control, Design, View and Format.

      Group: Clipboard, Slide, Font, Paragraph, Draw, Edit and etc.

      Command: Paste, Cut, Copy, Attribute, and etc.

    ⑥  Slide Window: Shows thumbnail view of the current slides.

    ⑦  View Button: adds/deletes slides, controls view default and current.

    ⑧  Slide: working area for current slide.

    ⑨  Object List: Shows list of objects in the current slide.

    ⑩  Status Bar: Shows information about the current project, including location

    and number of slides.

    ⑪  Scale Up/Down: zooms in or out.

    3. Menu Overview

    Ribbon Menu Tabs

    1) Home: Controls basic functions and formatting options, including font, color andfont size. Also used to add new slides, text boxes and draw simple diagram.

    2) Insert: Inserts pictures, video files, sound files, flash files, documents and files. Also

    used to add formulas, shapes, graphs, or draw complicated diagram. Makes quiz and

    table as well.

    3) Control: Configures inserted multimedia items, including pause between objects,

    slide by slide movement, video/sound file conversion, and transition effects.

    4) Design: Adjusts properties for slides, including size, layout, and templates.

    5) View: Controls the master slide and slide view. Also turns on/off viewing of HTML

    tags.

    6) Format-Text: Configures properties for text boxes, including alignment, output

    effects, and hyperlinks. Changes color and line as well.

    (Temporary object tab does not display by default, but appears when you double-click

    the object.)

    7) Format-Picture: Configures properties for pictures, including transparent color,

    output& transformed effect. Also changes location and size.

    synchronization settings.

    9) Format-Audio: Configures Properties for audio files, including sound option and

    play order.

    10) Format-Button: Configures properties for buttons, including button option and

    play order.

    11) Format-Multiple Choice: Configures properties for multiple choice question

    including mark type, arrange view, correct answer and show hidden object.

    12) Format-Short Answer: Configures properties for short answer question including

    correct answer, correct answer decision.

    13) Format-Draw: Configures properties for drawings, including bright, contrast,

    transparent color, rotate, flip, crop change color&size. Also changes Play order and

    animation effect.

    14) Format-Electronic Board: Configures properties for the electronic board including

    synchronized file, show electronic board control panel.

    scroll bar, boarder line and browser number.

    4. Customize the Menu

    You can customize the toolbars and tabs so they contain the functions you use most.

    1) Setting Quick Access ToolbarTo customize the Quick Access toolbar, click LectureMAKER Button. Click Options.

    ①  In the dialog box, click Custom Menu. Select the commands you wish to

    add/delete.

    ②  Click Add. Click OK.

    ③  The commands are added/deleted.

    2) Manage the Quick Access Toolbar

    To manage the Quick Access Toolbar, select Customize Quick Access Toolbar.

    ①  Customize Quick Access Toolbar: adds/deletes commands.

    ②  Reset Quick Access Toolbar: reset the toolbar to its default setting.

    ③  Place Quick Access Toolbar below the Ribbon: places the toolbar underneath

    the ribbon.

    ④  Minimize the Ribbon: hides/unhides the Ribbon menu.

    3) Turn Grid On and Off

      To turn on the Grid, select View, then Grid.  To turn off the Grid, select View, then Grid.

    4) Turn Grid and Guideline On and Off.

      To turn on Grid and Guideline, select View, then Grid and Guide. Click OK.

    LectureMAKER uses pixel units.

    1.  Create New File

    To create a new file, click the LectureMAKER Button. Select New. The new file will

    be called [No Title X ] until you save it under a new name.

    Set the slide size before you author a lesson.

    2. Open File

    To open an existing file, click the LectureMAKER Button. Select Open. Browse until

    you find the file you wish to open. Select the file. Click Open.

    3. Save File

    To save a file, click the LectureMAKER Button. Select Save.

    The first time you save a file, you must enter the file name (*. lme). Click Save.

    4. Save As

    To save an existing file under a different type, location or name, click the

    LectureMAKER Button. Select Save As. Select Save As again. Enter the location, name

    and type of the new file. Click Save.

    To save a file for web distribution, choose the Save As Web. Web files can be saved as

    either a *.lmd and *.swf file or html file. Content cannot be edited once it is saved for

    web distribution.

    1) To Save As *.lmd and *.swf Format

    To save as *.lmd and *.swf format, click the LectureMAKER Button. Select Save As.

    Select Save As Web. Choose Web publishing files(*.lmd, *.swf) file format. Enter the

    location, name and type of the file. Click Save. A lmd or swf file will be generatedbased on the Viewer Format selected.

    2) To Save As HTML format

    When saving files in html format, the contents will be saved in to separate files thereby

    shortening loading time.

    Click the LectureMAKER Button. Select Save As. Select Save as Web. Choose *html

    file format. Enter the location, name and type of the file. Click Save.

      Publish in Flash Viewer Format

    Note1:

    When saving files for web distribution, SCO & SCORM Package and executable file, you

    must choose a viewer format either LectureMAKER or Flash (*.swf).If you choose LectureMAKER viewer format, the LectureMAKER Viewer need to be

    installed before the published content can be viewed. Similarly if you choose Flash

    viewer format, the Flash Player is required to be installed to view the published content.

    Note2:

    The following LectureMAEKR functions are not supported by the Flash viewer format.

    4-2. Save As SCO and SCORM Package

    Content created in LectureMAKER can be published into SCO (Sharable Content Object)

    or SCORM (Sharable Content Object Reference Model) packages.

    1) Save As SCO

    To save as SCO, click the LectureMAKER Button. Select Save As. Select Save As SCO.

    Enter the location and name of the file. Click on the appropriate SCORM version.

    Choose a viewer format (LectureMAKER or Flash). Click Save.

    The file format name, html document, APIWrapper.js, and embed.js are generated.

    2) Save As SCORM Package

    To save as SCORM package, click the LectureMAKER Button. Select Save As. Select

    Save As SCORM Package. Enter the location and name of the file. Click on the

    appropriate SCORM version. Choose a viewer format (LectureMAKER or Flash). ClickSave.

    Select the slide and click Edit SCO Name or press F2 to enter the name of the SCO.

    The following slides will be packaged under the SCO until the slide with another

    SCO Name. If there is not SCO Name specified, then only one SCO will be packaged.

    Click OK. The SCORM package is saved as compressed ZIP files.

    4-3. Save as Executable File  

    Content can be published in executable file so that no installation of viewer is

    required for viewing.

    To save as an executable file, click the LectureMAKER Button. Select Save As. Select

    Save As Exe. Enter the location, name and type of the file(*.exe). Choose a viewer

    format (LectureMAKER or Flash). Click Save.

    LectureMAKER provides basic slide designs. You can also create your own.

    To save as design, click the LectureMAKER Button. Select Save As. Select Save as

    Design. Enter the location, name and type of the file(*lmm). Click Save.

    To save as a template, click the LectureMAKER Button. Select Save As. Select Save As

    Template. Enter the location, name and type of the file. Click Save.

    2) After saving a template, you can see the complete at Template Group. To import,

    export or clear templates, click the right button.

    4-6. Save as Image File

    To save as an image file, click the LectureMAKER Button. Select Save As. Select Save

    As Image. Enter the location, name and type of the file (*.jpg). Click Save.

    5. Print & Print Preview

    Slides can be printed.

    To see a Print Preview, click the LectureMAKER Button. Select Print Preview.

    1)  To print a slide, click the LectureMAKER Button. Select Print. The Print

    properties box appears. Configure the settings according to your preference.

    This section shows copyright information, update and version information.

    6-1. Copyright Information

    Click the LectureMAKER Button. Select Information. Select Copyright. The Copyright

    Information properties window appears.

    Author Information: Enter the company and personal name of the software owner.

    Copyright Reserve: If you choose, set the software so it can be run only in certain

    domains.

    Configure the settings according to your preference. Click OK.

    6-2. Visit Website

    Visit the Daulsoft website to learn more about LectureMAKER and other valuable

    Daulsoft products.

    Click the LectureMAKER Button. Select Information. Select Visit Website.

    1.  New Slide: creates a new slide.

    To create a new slide, select the Home tab. Select New Slide. Alternatively,

    click the new slide icon at the bottom of the slide screen.

    2.  To Delete a Slide: deletes a slide.

    To delete a slide, select the Home tab. Select Delete Slide. Alternatively click

    the delete slide icon   at the bottom of the slide screen.

    3.  Set up Slide : controls the ratio (either 4:3 or 3:2) and size of the screen.

    To set the slide size, select the Design tab. Select Slide Setup. The Slide

    setup box appears. Configure the settings according to your preference.

    Click OK.

    4.  Slide Properties: controls slide properties including slide title, screen color and

    background image.

    To set the slide properties, select the Design tab. Select Slide Property. The Slide

    Property dialogue box appears. Configure the settings according to your

    preference. Click OK.

    5.  Master Slide: controls the settings for the master slide, including font, format,

    background images, etc.

    To view the master slide, select the View tab. Select View Master Slide.

    To end viewing of the master slide, click Close Master Slide.

    Remember

    If you insert a multimedia file to the master slide, it will be inserted in all slides

    within that project.

    Click the Slide Screen to quickly go to a project’s master slide.

    6.  Slide Design: set a preset slide design. There are 20 designed images to

    choose from. You can modify the preset slide design as you wish.

    To select a slide design, select the Design tab. Select Design Group. This

    design will apply to the body of the master slide and the master title. Click OK.

    To design your own design template, open an existing design, click LectureMAKER

    Button, select Save As/Save as Template Design *. Lmm.

    7.  Layout: indicates the shape of an object placed in the slidework. There are 10

    preset layouts.

    Once the layout has been applied to a slide, the slide can easily be changed via

    the task pane layout.

    To set the layout, select the Design tab. Select Layout Group. Add picture, video,

    flash, PowerPoint and web files as you wish.

    Remember

    When you insert the layout of objects, size and proportion will remain stable.

    8. Template: uses a preset template for design and layout.

    To use a template, select the Design tab. Select Template Group. There are 6 set, 24

    templates. Choose the template. The template is inserted into the master slide.

    To make your own design template, open an existing design, click LectureMAKER

    9. Slide Object List: shows a current list of objects in the slide. If you want to hide an

    object, right mouse click over the object or object list and select hide/ show object on

    the property menu .

    10. Run a Slide: runs slides as single units or consecutively.

    To run a slide, or run a full-screen PowerPoint presentation, select the View tab.

    Select Run Slide.

    To insert an image, select Insert tab. Select Object group and image icon. Select the

    image you want to open. Click Open.

    To modify the image properties, use the Format tab. To activate the Format tab,

    double-click on the image.

    To edit the picture, right-click the image and select Edit Image. Use the Paint tool.

    6. Navigation Button

    Use navigation buttons to move slides from previous to next.

    To insert navigation buttons, select the Insert tab. Select Button and choose the

    navigation button. The Navigation Button properties window appears. Set theproperties according to your preference. Click OK.

    Remember

    You can apply the properties to all slides or just new ones.

    Since buttons are set as pixel images, changing the button size is not

    recommended.

    To create your own button, create a picture.

    7. PowerPoint

    To insert a PowerPoint file, select the Insert tab. Select Document and choose

    ① PowerPoint File Information: shows file information, including location, size and

    number of slides.

    ②  Type: set the format of the PowerPoint file. It can be imported as a

    background images, or as PowerPoint Document, or PowerPoint Slide by itself.③ Size: selects the size of the PowerPoint slides.

    ④ Select Slide: controls whether you add an entire PowerPoint file or only selected

    slides.

    Remember

    If you don’t select individual slides, the entire PowerPoint file will be inserted.

    For using synchronization function slide and lecture video, the PowerPoint file

    must be inserted as image.

    PowerPoint must be installed on your computer before you can import a

    PowerPoint file.

    8. PDF

    To insert a PDF document, select the Insert tab. Select Document and choose PDF.

    Website files are added as HTML tags.

    To insert an HTML file, select the Insert tab. Select Document and choose Web Page.

    The mouse pointer changes to cross shape(+). Place the cursor where you want theweb browser to be inserted. Write a URL and click OK.

    To open the Object Property window, double-click on the object.

    Enter the file name for the website. (e.g.: http://www.Dualsoft.com/en )

    10. Message Box

    To create a message box select the Insert tab. Select Other Object and choose

    Message Box. The Object Property window appears.

    ① Title: Enter the title.

    ② Message: Enter the message you want to use.

    ③ Icon: Select the icon that will accompany the message.

    Set the properties according to your preference. Click OK.

    Remember

    You can hide or show the message box with configuration button action. When the

    button is set to create objects that hide, the message box can be used as a way to

    output.

    11. View HTML Tag/Call Java Script

    To view HTML tags, LMS (Learning Management System) content must be created first

    HTML Tag/Call Java Script is very advanced function for upload content in high level

    LMS.1) To view an HTML tag, select the View tab. Select HTML tag. Select Save File.

    2) For HTML and JavaScript the OnEvent argument is passed. The variability in the

    function name event is also passed.

    12. Record Lecture

    To record a lecture, select the Insert tab. Select Record Lecture on the Recording

    group. The Record Lecture window appears. Select audio+eboard, or video+eboard, or

    eboard. To record the lecture, click the record button .

    To stop recording, click the stop button .

    To insert the recording into the lesson, click the Insert button .

    13. Record Video

    To record a video, your computer must have a working webcam.

    To record a video, select the Insert tab. Select Record Video on the Recording group.The Record Video/ Audio window appears. Set the properties according to your

    Click Apply.

    To start recording, click Start Recording.

    To stop recording, click Stop button.

    To insert the recording, click Exit after Insert as Object.

    Remember

    Checking video or audio option means to record only audio or video file.

    14. Record Sound

    To record sound, select the Insert tab. Select Record Sound on the Recording group.

    Record Sound window appears.

    Enter the file name. Set the Channel, BPS, and Frequency properties according to your

    preference.

    To start recording, click the record button.

    To stop recording, click the stop button.

    To preview the recording, click preview button.

    To insert the recording, click Insert as Sound Object.

    Remember

    After you record the sound, use the play feature to listen to it. Use the Delete

    Head and Delete Tail buttons to delete any unnecessary noise.

    Check Insert as object after converting to .wma: Click the selection box for

    converting wav file format to wma. Wma format is more compressed so it can be

    played faster from a server.

    15. Equation

    Enter simple mathematical expressions or advanced university-level equations.

    To insert an equation, select the Insert tab. Select Equation on the Editor group. Thenumerical formula editing window appears.

    A table can be used as a stand-alone object or it can be used to manage the layout of

    other objects inserted into a table. For example, you can insert a text box into a table

    cell.

    To insert a table, select the Insert tab. Select Table icon on the Text group. The Table

    Editing window appears.

    Set the properties according to your preference. Click OK.

    To modify the column and row widths once the table has been inserted, click on

    the table and drag the lines to the desired location.

    Alternatively, right-click on the table to change its properties.

    Select the character you wish to insert and Click the Select button. Close this

    character map window and right click mouse to Paste.

    Remember

    Before you select the character, choose the font you wish to use. The font used

    impacts the characters that are available.

    This Character Map is provided by Microsoft Windows. The Map window might be

    difficult to view from your Window’s version.

    To set the web browser properties, select the Control tab. Select Document Control.

    5. Electronic Board Control

    To e-board properties, select the Control tab. Select Electronic Board. The Object

    Property window appears.

    ①  Play: plays the e-board.

    ②  Pause: pauses the e-board.

    ③  Stop: stops playing the e-board.

    ④  Close: quits the e-board.

    Set the properties according to your preference. Click OK.

    6. Slide Control

    Use to control slide advancement.

    To set the properties for Goto Slide. Select the Control tab. Select Goto Slide. The

    Object Property window appears.

    7. Convert Video/Audio File

    Sound files (*. wav, *. mp3) and movies (*. avi, * asf, etc.), formats can be converted to

    compressed file size. Files in . wmv format can be used for quick downloads.

    To convert Video/Audio files, select Control tab. Select Convert Video/Audio. The

    Video/Audio Conversion appears.

    ①  Original File: selects the file that needs to be converted.

    ②  Converted File: selects the location where the converted file will be stored.

    ③  Screen Record Video/Voice Audio: indicates whether the file is video or

    audio.

    ④  Video Bit Rate: sets the bit rate (number of bits transmitted per second.) A

    low bit rate compresses better, but results in poor video quality.

    ⑤  Start: starts the file conversion.

    ⑥  Insert converted file as object: inserts the converted files as an object.

    ⑦  Exit: exits the file conversion.
